Had an incredible time at Awa! Such a great location in the middle of nature and right by some beautiful beaches. The property was clean, the food was great, the rooms were excellent, and the staff were so kind. We really enjoyed the complimentary breakfast and liked the variety that it offered. The coffee was some of the best I’ve ever had. We also enjoyed the hotel restaurant for lunch and dinner, but also ate at some incredible restaurants nearby including El Refugio (recommended to us by hotel staff), Selvin, and Zaika. The staff was incredible and so attentive to our every needs. They gave us some incredible recommendations and helped booked activities including a Cahuita hike and transport to the airport. The beaches nearby were beautiful and some of the best in the area. I look forward to returning to Awa the next time we come to Costa Rica!

The place feels magical! Hidden in the rainforest, next to a beautiful beach. Saw many sloths and toucans every morning at breakfast. Staff was incredible, very thoughtful and very knowledgeable of the animals which makes it even more fun. Alejandro was the best!!! We really hope to be back very soon.

We had a wonderful stay at Awa, a boutique hotel located on one of the most beautiful beaches on Costa Rica’s Caribbean coast. The staff was exceptionally kind and helpful, always going above and beyond to assist with anything we needed. Their attitude and professionalism were truly outstanding, far surpassing service standards we’ve experienced in many European locations. The rooms were exactly as pictured, beautifully maintained and thoughtfully designed. The overall vibe of the hotel is relaxed yet refined, making it a perfect escape for those looking to enjoy a quieter, more intimate setting by the beach.

The access to the hotel is not clearly marked from the main road, there’s no sign, so you’ll need to rely on the directions provided by the property. If you’re arriving at night, like we did, it can be a bit tricky to find. The entrance is right next to the beach, and without clear signage, it’s easy to miss. There’s also a low-hanging palm tree near the driveway that you need to carefully maneuver around, which adds a bit of confusion when you first arrive. A clearer path and signage would definitely improve the arrival experience, but once you’re there, everything else more than makes up for it. Awa is a serene and stunning spot that’s well worth the visit.

Extremely friendly staff. The ultimate connection with nature, we never experienced before.

The beach furniture was not very comfy. We would strongly recommend to offer cushions!

First of all, I would like to say a big thank you to all the extremely professional staff and a special thank you for the person in charge of selecting the staff. I can speak indefinitely about how beautiful the property is and about the unique location on the best beach in the area. It wouldn’t have been the same without all the efforts of the staff. Staying in AWA allows you to experience the wildlife of Costa Rica without leaving your hotel. Howler monkeys , sloths , beautiful frogs and birds are hanging out right over you head :)

I only wish breakfast options would change more frequently, but it doesn’t really matter if you stay for 3-4 nights. We stayed for 6 and at the end we wished we had some other options. Nevertheless breakfast was exceptional and made from the best ingredients.

Loved everything about our stay here. Upon arrival, made to feel super special and the hotel location is so spectacular, getting the best of both worlds in the jungle & on the beach. We spotted so much wildlife here, sloths every day, green parrots, toucans & howler monkeys to name a few! Room is finished to a beautiful standard, quite modern but still in keeping with its surroundings. We stayed in one of the rooms in the main hotel building and didn’t have the problem mentioned by some other guests with no bathroom door. The toilet & shower are still separate, it’s just the sink that is in the bedroom itself, which didn’t bother us. Food is a little on the expensive side, but so worth it. We had the 3 course dinner down on the beach twice and the standard was the same both times. Special mention to our waiter Ricardo who did a fantastic job with his excellent service. Also, special mention to Dinnier who served us at breakfast on a couple of occasions and Walter who helped us spot lots of amazing wildlife! The staff here are incredible and do make an extra special effort to learn your names and make you feel so at home.

Reiterating what other reviewers have said, it isn’t sign posted but Waze/Google maps took us to the correct road. Only other thing was that there was maintenance going on one day which we weren’t pre-warned about and there was very loud sawing going on all morning. It did stop fairly soon after we complained about the noise though.

The staff were so friendly, hard working and polite. In particular Edwing on the reception desk, who was most helpful with every request we had, and nothing seemed too much to ask. The breakfast was delicious and the rooms were immaculate. The location is great for a quiet beach with chairs and sun loungers, and food and drink available on the beach too.

The toilet is not separate from the sleeping area so lacks privacy.

A slice of paradise - being surrounded by the jungle and only a few steps away from the Carribbean Sea with a beautiful and what felt like quite remote beach, was just incredible. So was the food and the service. Big thank you to the lovely staff for this wonderful experience.

There were quite a lot of mosquitoes. We would have enjoyed our stay even more, if we would have found some precautionary measures in the room, e.g. mosquito net/s over the bed and/or in front of windows.

Room layout in Gloria did not offer privacy for toilet and shower, which only works well for couples, not friends. Online photos of pool were misleading - pool is private and most guests do not have access.

Very nice place. Great architecture and design of the hotel. Right by the beach. Good breakfast and dinner. Friendly staff.

Unfortunately the WiFi didn’t work besides the first hours of arriving. And it is no phone connection. So that maid our experience a little bad. It is a place where it is perfect to disconnect but that was not what we had in mind and maid it difficult plan our day. For example to look where to eat. We are also disappointed with the bathtub in our room which was the centrepiece of the room. And when it didn’t were a pool we were excited to use the bathtub. But it took extremely long to fill up water and the water had a yellow color and didn’t feel fresh. It is a really nice place, don’t get me wrong. But with this things it kind maid our experience bittersweet.
