The Niigata Grand is an older but still beautiful hotel. The rooms were very comfortable and VERY reasonably priced. The breakfast was excellent - whether the Japanese or Western version. The location is also great. Any easy walk across the Bandai Bridge to shopping and restaurants and a quick cab ride to the Shinkansen station. One of the staff was a native English speakers and was extremely helpful. Bottom line an excellent value and a wonderful stay.

Kind of an outdated hotel. When we booked as 2 adults and 1 five year old child, the room suggested was not a good choice. The assumption is the child sleeps with an adult and the breakfast ticket had to be bought separately. Breakfast was also the same 2 choices daily, so if you want variety, not recommended. Probably had the worst view in the hotel. The majority of the rooms have a river view or city view. We were tucked in some corner where we saw the NTT building and a parking lot.

This was a real surprise. The staff we dealt with, a Japanese man, was really top notch... this guy went out of his way to help us.. our society on the whole needs more people this passionate about their job! When you have an experience at check in like this everything else just seems better. The hotel looked old from outside & lobby however, the room was very big we booked two rooms & they were both spacious & very well appointed. Full ensuite bathrooms two twin beds a sitting area, tvs with full YOUTUBE, HULU etc functions & nice & quiet. Location wise we walked over a bridge & were in the thick of it so to speak. There is plenty to do in Niigata. Niigata is under valued guess as it rains a great deal however, we have been here a few times now & as a town there is a great deal of potential here.

Furnishings are a bit dated and it’s odd that they store high chairs and extra chairs in the main corridor to the lift. It’s doesn’t give a great first impression but don’t let that put you off

I was even surprised how nice was everything in this hotel. I booked semi-bouble and the was worried, but the room is so well organised that you have place for everything you need. The bathroom was also very clean and convenient. There is an underground parking, we payed 600¥ for a day, which in my opinion is a very good price. I really liked everything in this hotel.

It was a beautiful location, looking over the river while eating breakfast was lovely. The beds and room were much more spacious than we expected and the staff were super kind and helpful. It was a walk over the bridge to the main city, but we loved the scenery and exercise. Stunning at night time with the lights over the river.

Staffs were friendly and helpful. Room is spacious and well equipped. Location is good, in between Niigata station and Furumachi, both within walking area. The hotel is not located at the main roads, thus the surrounding was clam and quite.

WIFI coverage was weak - causing difficulty during working/studying time. Cleanliness has room of improvement on detailed e.g. the inside part of toilet.

Being able to watch YouTube on the tv was pretty cool.

Would have been better if the rooms faced the river.
