We had a wonderful stay at Serendipity! We wish we had planned to stay longer. Clean, comfort and very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was outstanding and the restaurant attached is just world class, fabulous food and service! We loved the tasting menus we tried on both nights of our stay! There is no pool but you can go swimming in the tranquil river right out of the back garden which was magical! We enjoyed borrowing a canoe and going for a short trip in that as well. It felt very personal and perfect!

Delightful location, warm welcome from Elsabe and her team, very comfortable (feels like home) and with a fabulous restaurant too! Liselle and her team produce the most delicious, innovative and inviting food. Rudolph entertainingly talks through the menu describing the hunting foraging and fishing involved as you enjoy pre-dinner drinks on the terrace beside the lagoon. We’ve enjoyed staying and dining here many times over the past 22 years and it’s always an absolute treat!

Stay 02/22-24/24 What a wonderful stay in Serendipity. The hostess Elsabe does everything to make the guests feel comfortable. What a great atmosphere this house offers with a terrace, tastefully furnished interior and located directly on the river bank. The house's daughter, Lizelle, an internationally awarded chef, offers a 5-course evening menu as a highlight. Of the 9 locations we booked on our SA trip lasting several weeks, certainly in the top 3. We felt very comfortable here and will definitely book at Serendipity again when we stop in Wilderness.

Peacefulness of the whole establishment. Elsabé is a great hostess - great effort was made to assist guests with local attractions, passing info on any of the local attractions with interesting detail. Breakfast is a sumptuous feast that she and her staff prepare with delightful detail. The restaurant is a seperate business although it shares the building, with Stefan being host and Lynette the masterchef. Be prepared for extremely high standards with each course of the dinner served - prepared with exceptional detail. Each course are explained in such delightful detail that makes your mouth water beforehand. Do not miss either breakfast or dinner !!

Lovely setting quietly located on a picturesque river .The restaurant dining experience was a highlight for sure !!

The room does have a shared balcony section which wasn’t a problem to us as the other guests staying were lovely and friendly . It was our only stay which didn’t offer any hot options at breakfast and probably our least favourite breakfast but still very tasty .

The quality of the accommodation and the attention to detail were absolutely outstanding. We travel a lot and this is certainly one of the best places where we have ever stayed. Elsabie was helpful and attentive throughout our stay. Do not miss booking for a meal in the restaurant, run by her daughter and son in law, which is one of the top restaurants in South Africa and a wonderful culinary experience.

Location lovely and peaceful on the side of the lagoon. Balcony from rooms overlooking lagoon a real bonus. Breakfast delicious and extensive choice- including pancakes!!! Hostess very helpful and informative. Added bonus was the opportunity to have a delicious fine dining experience in Serendipity Restaurant, memorable. Plenty of interesting walks in the area and a magnificent beach nearby - our room well equipped with beach bags and towels.

We had a lovely overnight stay. Elsabe welcomed us and from start to finish we received excellent service. The room was beautiful with a shared patio overlooking the river. Very nice breakfast as well. We also had dinner at the restaurant and it was the best experience and food we had in a very long time. What a treat!

The rooms were beautiful and very comfortable. There was a welcome decanter of port. Door leads out into shared terrace with sun beds, overlooking the Touw river and sunset. Lizelle, being a top chef prepared and served a gourmet fine dining experience. Wonderful food as you would expect and a very memorable evening.

Everything was so friendly and we felt almost like we stayed with family. It was such a nice experience and the icing on the cake was dinner at Serendipity ( remember to book in advance:-)). The food was the best we had on our trip and the service and stories around the food were absolutely amazing. You could feel the passion around the food and the wine and it was extraordinary.
