From the moment we arrived we had a very warm welcome and it never ceased. The room was very comfortable, well-appointed and gorgeous. It is exactly as advertised - a listed building, so expect some traffic noise. Breakfast was amazing, such care went into making it - coffee was fantastic and we left being well fed. Makes me want to go back to eat in the restaurant which unfortunately doesn’t open on the night we stayed. Location was ideal, with a short walk into town. Staff couldn’t have been more helpful, really made our stay!

Absolutely nothing - I loved it - just be mindful of traffic noise if you’re a light sleeper and bring ear plugs. We had no problems at all.

Very enjoyable second stay at The Lemon Tree. Beautiful building and a very comfortable stay. The evening meal was very good; breakfast was excellent. We did discover we'd got a puncture on the morning of our departure. However a member of staff (sorry cannot recall his name) went above and beyond to practically change the tyre for us by himself.

Nothing drastic to recommend to improve on. The car park by the hotel has a very narrow space to pass, but once we were parked up we were advised that they did have additional parking but there was no signage to suggest this.

The hotel is a listed building so expected some character which it had. We went for my fathers 90th and had a meal there also. the staff were absolutely lovely, the food was exceptional and the atmosphere was great. Staff allowed us to put up some decorations for my dad which was lovely.

I booked 4 rooms and all had a bit of an issue such as a musty smell in the bathroom in one or a slow emptying sink or a cracked light switch or dust between the wardrobe and draws however we did not complain because we were only there for one night and we were pre-occupied with the birthday celebrations. I am sure if we had they would have responded positively but I wouldn't say it made us dislike the place. The driveway to the main car park is very narrow as the wall is also listed

Rooms although black out blinds would be more suitable. Good double glazing no noise from road. However the ruins can become very hot with the windows closed. So the colder months would be better to stay. There are modern tv and a good selection of food

No room service breakfast as booking. Com advertised. This was necessary as I made this booking an overnight stay being treated in hospital and I didn’t want to come down in the morning. It was a shocking experience at 11.30 the fire alarm went off. I could find no one only two other guests in the hotel. I had to call the police and eventually 25 minutes later the alarm was off this affected my sleep as I needed it after my day in hospital

Hotel full of character and exceptionally clean with friendly staff. Location great - very close to the centre. Had an evening meal - exceptional standard.

Breakfast was surprising - tea, coffee or fruit juice then choose a breakfast from a list. Most hotels allow cereals, fruit and often pastries in addition. The cooked part is usually help yourself but can be made to order. One cup of coffee and the cooked breakfast was a bit surprising. However, that said, it was a really nice cooked breakfast, with sourdough toast.

All of the staff were very friendly, extremely helpful and they were really what made our stay such an enjoyable one. Everyone we encountered during our stay, from the breakfast waiters, chefs, reception, bar staff and our waitress in the evening, did a wonderful job of representing The Lemon Tree. The food in the restaurant was absolutely delicious and, despite being incredibly busy, we never waited long for food or drinks. Our room was a good size, very comfortable and we both slept really well. We will definitely return. Thanks for a lovely stay Raymond and Lynn from Glasgow

Great staff Excellent value for money Amazing scallops at dinner Lovely big bathrooms Amazing 5* breakfast

Unable to enter the tight car park entrance, although the staff came out straight away and found an alternative. Soundproofing is bad and maybe I was unlucky with my neighbour who was constantly slamming Doors and talking loudly late into the night. Unsure why they don’t buy door silencer pads which is a very easy fix for these type of wood fire regulation doors.

A lovely, warm room during one of the coldest weeks of the year. It was worth going for the breakfast alone, which was fabulous! Everything was presented beautifully and tasted fresh and not at all greasy. Short walk into town. Would stay again.

Just a small thing but there didn't seem to be a hot drinks menu at breakfast. We were just offered tea or coffee but it would have been good to have more of a choice and a price list. Also the guest in room 6 decided to have a midnight shower, which was very noisy- not the hotels fault, but there are thin walls.

The dinning room was large with a few smaller rooms off , The bedroom was one I had stayed in before so had requested this room it was good .we had clean towels and the room tidied every dayalso bottles of water coffee and biscuits replenished .dinner in same room as breakfast The dinners were lovely and plenty on the plates the staff were very helpful and friendly . Bed was very comfortable .

The breakfast was very nice but I would have liked to have had the option of cereal as do not normally eat a cooked breakfst everyday. we were there 4 nights on the two occasions i asked for soup it was the same one so I had something else that I did not really want. As i am a little older it would have been nice if there was a lounge with some comfortable chairs that could sit in .

Every member of the Lemon Tree team were superb, they were all very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We had our dog with us and he was made to feel very welcome and was well looked after. The room was clean, comfortable and well appointed and even had a fridge and microwave. We had asked for a room downstairs with easy access to outside for the dog and we were given a room that suited us perfectly. The bathroom was small but had a lovely hot shower. The breakfast and Sunday lunch were superb, we would stay again just to eat in the restaurant.

A nicer outside space for when the sun is shining would have been lovely
