The room was gorgeous, clean and very spacious. The walk up to the room was picturesque and beautiful. I was so impressed

The bed is a little too hard for me

Brilliant little base for if you're making a trip to the area as its in the town centre (but not too busy) and family attractions are nearby (we visited bewilderwood and the ice cream farm). Love that the room/apartment is separate to the pub but only across the courtyard so easily accessible when needed. Breakfast was really good and we had the best Sunday roast we've ever had here! The staff are lovely and approachable and were wonderful to our our children.

Nothing we didnt like but we think a mini fridge would be a great addition just to be able to store some juice and snacks mainly for the kids, however this wasn't an expectation. The kettle was slightly difficult to fill as had to take it upstairs to bathroom sink and the tap is quite low, however we managed just fine using a glass.

Well worth a diversion of the main routes to discover this GEM - The menu is accomplished and well executed - excellent wine list and a friendly team + I am rarely impressed , but I was , to run a business such as this, in this location you have to be good to make the journey worth while - make that journey. After a good pint, excellent wine, excellent food - To be able to enjoy a Dram of Glenmorangie was an enjoyable night cap before retiring to the most comfortable bed at this fine pub with rooms.

I would need to unnecessarily need to scratch my head….

Spotlessly clean, modern and comfortable rooms, within a beautiful country cottage courtyard area. Absolutely gorgeous setting and lovely bar and restaurant interior. The staff were fantastic - particularly the girls in the restaurant area and the male waiter. All were so helpful and polite to our large belated Christmas family get together group. They accommodated 10 of us in the atmospheric back dining area and everything we asked for was granted where possible. The food was delicious and with a really varied menu. Thanks so much for a lovely stay. Would love to experience the outside area during summertime. Looks amazing with heaters and pizza oven!

That we couldn't have stayed another night!

Beautiful place with welcoming staff! We stayed in the Bakery suite which is over two levels. The decoration and furniture was all stylish and charming, and the bathroom was a triumph- partner ran me a bath and it was so relaxing! Really nice touch with the provided brew options, snacks and flip-top bottle of water too, though took me a while to realise it had water in as it was so full 🤦‍♀️. The Crema Caffe coffee bags were delicious, we will be buying those for ourselves! We both really enjoyed our stay and will definitely book again if staying in the area.

No criticisms, just ideas on what could be improved for future. As mentioned above I didn’t realise the glass bottle had water in it until morning, but that wouldn’t have been enough had we used it for drinking before bed and for the coffee machine/kettle in the morning. I wasn’t sure if the bathroom taps were safe drinking water or not, perhaps that info could be added to the check in letter, or leave two bottles of water- one at the brew station and one for drinking water next to the provided glasses. A couple more milk pots would have been great too, there were three in the basket and between two didn’t go far. A small fridge with a pint of milk would have been even better to go with the many delicious brew options!

Fantastic breakfast. One of our party asked for poached egg rather than fried and another asked for very well done bacon which was no problem for them.Excellent car park.

We were attending a wedding at Iscoyd Park and had to be at a church for 12 midday and check in at The Lion was between 3pm and 11pm. I believe you could go that extra mile and provide the room earlier if it is a wedding party as the ladies like to dress and make up beforehand. We would have had to pay an extra £30 for that on top of everything else. Maybe ask when booking if they are attending a special function with Iscoyd Park being so close. We had 4 rooms in total.

Beautiful accommodation set in a courtyard adjacent to the pub. Lovely to have our own front door! Bed very comfortable and bathroom spacious. Lovely toiletries and tea, coffee, crisps and biscuits in the room. Very nice meal at the pub with free wine and birthday desert! Lovely breakfast - we paid extra to include it in our stay which worked out cost effective as prices higher on the day. Portions for breakfast were quite small for the price charged but lovely food.

Quite a lot of noise from the pub and people sitting out right in front of our room, drinking and playing music. Wasn’t quiet until club closed and stopped playing music at about 12:30am. Wasn’t much of a problem to us as we were in the pub until 11ish the first night and at a wedding on the second day/ night so didn’t get back until late. If you wanted a quiet night in, the music and people would be a problem.

We liked almost everything about our stay. Excellent food and drink. Great accomodation, facilities and friendly staff. Superb English breakfast and evening meal.

We stayed in the old bakery room and unfortunately the bedroom window looks onto the main road. It was a hot night and we could not leave the bedroom window open due to traffic and people noise. Even with the window and curtains closed we were still disturbed by noise while trying to go to sleep. The room was very warm during the night and possibly a fan in the room or ceiling may have cooled the room. We would 100% stay at the lion again, just in one of the other rooms away from the main road.

Beautiful & relaxing place to stay. Room was lovely with everything we needed. Bed so comfortable. Gorgeous patio garden leading up to room. Food was of a very high standard and well presented. The staff were very helpful and attentive. Nothing too much trouble.. Each and every one of them were proficient at their jobs and ensured we had a comfortable stay. We had our dog with us and she was made welcome also

Could not find fault

Room was great and better than I expected which is always nice. outside courtyard areas between the main pub building and the accommodation really added to the atmosphere and feeling of a more premium venue. Inside the pub was lovely and although I only had a flatbread snack in the evening, I saw plenty of other meals going out to tables around me that look great.

I thought Breakfast was a slight let down. I can only speak for what I ordered which was the smoked salmon and scrambled egg on sourdough toast. It was one piece of toast not two which isn't an issue if it's then dressed nicely with some chives / cress etc to give it a bit more bulk. It felt underwhelming but with that being said it was still very tasty!
