Biketour: Our guide showed little interest to give any explanation or information. Sandflees: I had more than 40 bites all over my body which took 2 weeks to heal.

From the moment we were checked in at the port lounge we were greeted with friendliness and efficiency. The captain of the boat for the hotel transfer was safe and confident. On arrival to the island we were greeted by waving staff members and this unwavering kindness persisted through the stay. The villa was stunning, clean and personalised as we were staying for our honeymoon. The staff were flexible to requests and accommodated our wishes at every point. The sand was immaculate and the turquoise sea was stunning. We did the extra activities with Sinoun and he was knowledgable, caring and really made the extra effort with special touches. The food was delicious both western and Khmer. The staff throughout our stay were professional, kind, genuine and always caring for us. The hotel is perfect for guests who want quiet private time or guests who want a bit more to do. The best hotel we’ve stayed at in Cambodia and we will return!

Nothing - amazing!

The beach was breathtaking and the staff put a lot of effort into keeping things clean. It can’t be overstated that the staff were incredible; friendly, polite and very welcoming! The pool was lovely and rooms super clean and well equipped. They gave us insect repellent (probably in response to the sand fly complaints) but we didn’t really notice an excess of bugs/insects. Cocktail happy hour a nice touch and having the option of a low key dinner by the pool vs a more high end dinner at the restaurant. Menu was varied enough with some ‘western options’ and more local dishes.

I can think of very few improvements. The transfer options (speed boat) organised via the hotel are quite expensive in my opinion. But you do get access to a lounge at the port which is a very nice touch!

This is an amazing resort. The food is excellent. The staff is very helpful and friendly, but not intrusive in any way. The room is very comfortable, large and luxurious, with daily fruit, snacks, and water. The private infinity pool with the villa is large enough for swimming and has warm water. We have had private pools previously in resorts but never one so large. We have been to many beaches in the world, but this is the best of the best. The white sand, warm clear water, and gentle waves make it the perfect beach for swimming. The villas are very close to the water for ultimate views. The beach is not at all crowded and has daily lounge chairs/umbrellas provided. Perfection!

Best sea in all Cambodia! And we see any other in Koh Rong. The villa with the pool is spectacular. Don’t go to pagoda beach area, come directly here and book months before or you will find nothing. Fantastic breakfast overlooking the sea at the Ocean Restaurant Ciao Royal Sands you will remain in our hearts!

The fruit selection is exceptional, although they should offer more options for vegetarians and not include predominantly meat dishes. Otherwise, everything was perfect.

This is place is exceptional ! Best beach and best hotel in all SEA ( and i do travel worldwide since 20+ years ) The staff is always there for you, the quality sand of the beach is awesome, the two restaurant are beautifull and the food ….hmmm just perfect !! I am happy to see as well that the beach didnt change since 2018 and is intact !! The spa well is just perfect, each spa room is build on top of a little lake and you are able to see fishes whille you are having your massage !! The sunset area is as well very good set up with a fire every evening !! The choices of the beakfast is as wéll very good !! The rooms are perfect! Bed is enormous and you private outdoor shower as well as indoor and bathroom is big too !! Seriously i will be back for sure !! Thanks again to all the stafft’ that is welcoming and smilling all the time !!

We stayed one whole week at the Royal Sands and it was simply amazing! After the busy cities of Siem Reap and Phnom Penh this was the perfect place to relax. The Villa was perfectly clean with a lot of space. The breakfast had a huge variety (especially for western guests!). It really looks like a place out of paradise. The ocean is so so clean and they have the best setups for sunsets (including cocktail happy hour :) ) But the best thing was the staff: Everyone was exceptionally friendly and helpful - and always with a smile. We really felt at home there and were sad that we had to leave eventually. Also special shoutout to our guide Savy: We had so much fun going snorkling, fishing and driving with the banana boat! :)

The beach was beautiful and the beachfront room spacious and welcoming. Breakfast was a solid good. And sunsets fantastic.

Although so lovely it felt a little soulless. The staff were lovely BUT it all felt a little contrived. Given that the hotel was empty as the manager I would have made the effort to go and talk to guests and see see what they thought of everything and if anything could be done to improve the place. I thought the food prices were higher than anywhere else I had been (including the Six Senses on Krabey island) and unjustified. Maybe offering service on the beach would also be a good idea. I think it just lacked the magic it could have and should have given its location.

We spent here our honeymoon in a villa with pool. The Royal Sands Koh Rong was our Earth paradise. We have never seen such a wonderful environment like this. It was stunning, amazing like a dream which became reality! This place is the perfect location of absolut relaxing. We felt like we were the only one of the beach, it was totally unique. The beach with white sand was incdeible beautiful. The architectural view of the villas were understatedly elegant. The interior atmosphere of the villa was excellent with local materials and simplicity. The pool was enjoyable and cozy. The villa was well equipped, always clean. The staff was really friendly, helpful, kind and smiley. In the spa we felt like we were in the heaven. We had the best balinesen massage ever!! The western and asian menu of the Royal Sands Koh Rong were incredibly delicious with a professional staff. The breakfasts were colorful and tasty. It was easy and fast to rent a motorbike and go around the island. The village was just 15 minutes motor ride from the resort. The amazing sunset was a daily program with delicious coctails. We highly recommend Royal Sands Koh Rong!

Also got a private pool which was fantastic Beach is definitely one of the nicest I’ve ever been on Hotel Pool is also massive and close to the beach and great with getting drinks / happy hour

The sandflies… they killed us. Kind of ruined it a bit. Because after that we didn’t step foot onto the beach anymore. We are still suffering so much from the bites. We were also staying on the other side of the island and we didn’t get any sandfly bites there… that hotel was turning over the sand with a tractor daily… which obviously is also annoying to hear while you’re at the beach. But honestly rather have that then these bites 😅 Maybe there is more you guys can do in order to get ride of them 😭
