The accomodation is in a very quiet and peaceful part of town. Things are very clean and new, room is Japanese style low to the floor but beds are raised. There are a lot of electronics, window shutters to make the room dark, controls for bath, shower, toilet, ventilation etc. There's a book to translate the controls written in Japanese. There's no breakfast nor is the place continually staffed but the owner who speaks English is around quite a lot and is very helpful. Short, peaceful walk to the fish market and sites

This was one of the best accommodation experiences we have had in Japan. Beautiful building and amazing rooms, very comfortable and beautiful decor with lovely little tatami area for tea. The bathroom and laundry was excellent, the clothes drying facility in the bathroom was ingenious, dried clothes overnight ready for the next day (very handy given how much it rains in Kanazawa!). Location was lovely next to the river, short walk into central Kanazawa and not far from Higashichaya. Masa san was the ultimate host, so kind, accommodating and gracious. He took pains to make sure we knew where to go, what the weather would be like (Kanazawa has a saying - you can forget your bento, but don't forget your umbrella!), helped us with Yamato luggage transfers, just a really lovely person.

We had a very pleasant stay here. Masa, the owner, was a wonderful host - very friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The bedroom was fairly spacious and beds were very comfortable. Shower gel, shampoo and conditioner were provided. Bathroom was, large, clean and had a bath and a shower. The washing machine was a bonus. And clothes can be dried in the bathroom which has a built in laundry drying facility. You have a choice of comfortable Japanese robes to wear when you check in. Air conditioning and heating are provided. Location is great and very quiet. The Shinkansen train station is a comfortable 10-15 minutes walk away. Omichi market is about the same distance away. Another 10 minutes walk takes you to the castle grounds.

The overall design and focus on details by the owner evokes the essence of Japan with all of his thoughtful choices. Masa was very helpful and responsive to our needs and any communication with him. The location was very good, convenient to everything we needed, and it was super quiet at night.. perfect for a restful sleep. This place has a lot of state-of-the-art technology and the best user guide I've ever seen, yet it retains a thoroughly Japanese sensibilty that we really enjoyed. We will definitely stay here again when we return to Kanazawa.

We would like to have had a light in the alcove where the hanging system for clothes is located.

We loved everything about this hotel. The host was warm and welcoming. He was very thorough in explaining all the features of our room. We stayed in the Oudo (Ochre) Room, which was beautiful and very comfortable. The location of the hotel is fairly central, and we were able to walk to all the sights we wanted to see in Kanazawa. We cannot recommend Hanaakari enough. Many thanks to our gracious host for such a wonderful stay!

The host was super sweet—greeted us with welcome gifts and drinks on arrival, making us feel right at home. Tucked in a peaceful Kanazawa neighborhood, just a chill 10-minute stroll from the station and near Omoide Yokocho. The room? Spacious and comfy, plus bonus points for having in-room laundry—total game changer!

The host was very friendly and spoke excellent English. He took the time to explain how everything worked. He had a book that explained everything in the room and walked us through everything from the door lock to the washing machine. The room has a blend of Japanese and Western style that leans more Japanese. Everything was perfect, in our opinion, and we would highly recommend it.

We had an incredible stay thanks to our warm and welcoming host who made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. Their attention to detail were truly impressive. The room was beautifully decorated and provided everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We highly recommend this place!

We were really happy with everything. To be honest, there wasn't anything that stood out as something we didn't like. So yeah, no real negatives here.

Hanaakari is located near the river, in an incredibly quiet part of Kanazawa, away from the busy station. Yet it is still easy walking distance to the trains, buses, markets and sights. We were so warmly welcomed by our very kind and generous host. He took time to explain everything about our room, which was so beautifully presented. We loved the traditional feeling the room had, the futon bed so very comfortable and we had plenty of room.

Superb hosting, even offering to book an experience we spoke about. He took us through the room and gave us good recommendations in Kanazawa when we asked. The room was so great, spacious and clean. Seemed very traditional, even the bathroom! Really enjoyed our stay.

We would love to suggest the use of reusable cups, at least for the tea making facilities.
