Located in a residential area close to all the action, this traditional Japanese townhouse was exceptional in every way. The gorgeous and peaceful garden and glorious bath was a bonus. We highly recommended this place. Read the instructions carefully if traveling by vehicle to be courteous to the neighbours as the entry is on a private road. It's only a 30 second walk from the drop off point. Staff were so helpful, booking taxis and restaurants. Highly recommend Ebisu Sushi for dinner! It's a pleasant walk away.

The stairs are steep so anyone with mobility difficulties should sleep in one of the two bedrooms downstairs.

The house was lovely and clean. With everything you could need to enjoy your stay and the recommended tea ceremony was a dream. Along with a recommended udon restaurant which is basically next door, but nothing can compare for the value and quality.

The only issue is as a machiya house in the winter it let's in some drafts so make sure you get the heating on, and and make sure in the morning you're ready for your first few steps to be a bit chilled.

Evocative of Edo Period Japan along a beautiful river, the ambiance and location could not be beat. Spotlessly clean and one of the most lovely baths I’ve seen with a cedar soaking tub. I loved the little touches like a bag of amenities and coffee and tea that were waiting for us.

Perhaps with any house that old, my allergy to mold was triggered in my tatami room so I ended up sleeping in the wooden floored living room, which worked out fine.

Beautiful and large space - you could easily fit there 6 persons and even more great coffee and tea set! very friendly staff beautiful and tranquil garden and home decor

There was an absence of curtains which was a bit annoying for a person like me who likes a dark room to sleep in. The stairs to the second floor were too steep for us There was an issue with getting there by a car since there is no close place to park the car

We enjoyed the beautiful, well appointed house and garden. The service was excellent from the staff and housekeeper. We liked the large space and comfortable chairs. The price was reasonable.

We would have preferred a location that was closer to restaurants. We had trouble finding space in the few restaurants close by and got dinner from the local grocery store twice. Perhaps the property could provide a list and map to restaurants close by. The stairs were steep.

We liked the situation and the design. The small garden was really nice to have. There is a great restaurant next door at the end of the street! Amenities are provided however it would be great to have a set of kitchen things ( salt/pepper/oil) at least to start.

Traditional Japanese experience. Location was great. There was everything you might need - ironing board, iron, washer, dryer, even coffee & tea for morning.

We experienced an earthquake warning during our stay. Would be helpful to have instruction where to hide in such a situation.

This home is simply perfect. Beautifully appointed, with everything you need. Walking distance to key Kanazawa attractions, and lovely local restaurants close by. We had a fantastic time and would definitely book this home again.
