I had planned to go out for an evening meal, however when I arrived I discovered that the hotel had an Indian restaurant on-site. So I decided to save a journey & eat in! WOW, what a treat - the food was quite superb, very tasty & quite different form the norm - it transpired that the chef was Indian not from Bangladesh - as a result the flavours were very different. Breakfast was absolutely what was needed to set me up for a day at Knebworth.

Nothing - I was very happy.

Staff were great, I had a small issue in my room and they sorted it immediately for me. The beds were really comfy, and the bedrooms and en-suite were clean. The rooms are not modern, but for the price they are really good value.

The rooms were hot, I couldn’t get the radiator valve to turn off, and if you are on the ground floor you couldn’t leave the windows open all night as someone could get in. Not a problem if you are on the upper floors though.

The staff are so friendly and willing to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The cooked breakfast orders were taken promptly and delivered quickly, we only had breakfast food at the hotel. The food was delicious and cooked well, not greasy at all. You get a continental breakfast and can also order a cooked breakfast. The restaurant was clean and comfortable. Staff are attentive. The bed was super comfortable, there's tea and coffee available in your room, with some small snacks. The room was very clean and comfortable. The shower was nice and warm. The hotel was very close to where my daughter lives in Stevenage, so location was perfect.

I didn't love the access to the reception, I struggle with my mobility and chronic pain and the steps were quite deep to access the main entrance of the hotel. So if you struggle with your mobility just be aware, that being said I did see a few doors at the back of the property which could be used instead.

lovely quiet room with a small hallway where the teathings were set up. Very nice bathroom with instant hot water and an excellent shower (in the bath). The sink taps were the old fashioned sort but the basin was large and had a proper oldfashioned plug. Bed was comfortable and the lighting pleasant and suitable. Nice large desk with plenty of sockets. The breakfast was good and served promptly and courteously The man at the desk was also very helpful. Parking was good and easy to access. I am hard put to fault anything.

I could not get used to the system for unlocking the door - both the outside and the room door. It took several attempts every time. There was no breakfast available on the second day of my stay although a TOby Carvery is actually within walking distance so this was not a major problem.

Friendly and efficient staff. Amazing historic building. Spacious very well appointed room, with loads of towels, tea and coffee making facilities. On site Indian restaurant excellent. Let down by old fashioned bathroom - fixed head shower and generally a bit tired. Unfortunately it was between 2 main roads so there was traffic noise especially in the morning and under the flight path for Luton? so again we were woken up by the noise. Quiet overnight.

Check in went well and room was clean and adequate. Was very warm in the room but no control over the heating was available as its an old property. Windows open for 10 minutes solved that one. Staff were very helpful, especially Ali who called prior to arrival to check it was all OK and looked after us in the bar when we got back at night. Bed reasonably comfortable and room was relatively quiet despite being near a main road. So overall not a bad place. No complaints and I would recommend it for a short stay. Thought it was a little expensive for a room only at £85/night but for the area was comparatively cheap. Would stay again

Thought the room was a bit "dated" (although functionally was all good). Was noisy with window open in our room due to traffic noise on the Knebworth Road.... to be fair that would only apply to certain rooms

Traditional , maybe in need of a bit of TLC, but independent and not like the chains where you feel like you could be anywhere. Clean. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Good value for money & in a convenient location for us

A bit tired …and the shower needed 2 of us to figure out (I’m a frequent traveler so…)

Property is well located in Stevenage and easy to find. The property is presented well and clean. The room is basic but requires all the needs you would require for a short stay over. The room was very clean and laid out as you would find in a well known named hotel.

Nothing.

The service was excellent, the staff welcoming and the rooms were really cosy. The food is exceptional and highly recommended. Best of all it's around the corner from my parents house so it's a perfect home from home.

Nothing that I can think of.

Last year,we had an overnight stay, and unfortunately we were unable to start our car on leaving. Lisa, a member of Roebuck Inn staff, gave us more than an hour of her own time to assist us in getting the car started.(A lift to a nearby shopping centre for jump leads, and using her car to get ours started) She wouldn't except payment. We had no hesitation in booking at this hotel again this year, as we were so impressed with the staff.
