Very kind and friendly staff, always ready to help! Very nice location as well, especially if you are into surfing and/or watching surfers tackle the waves!

Since the street is nearby, trucks, tuk tuks and cars (as well as trains) are noisy, although it is definitely not a deal-breaker. In addition, the cleanness could be improved in the rooms. Otherwise awesome spot, would definitely visit again soon!

The hotel is right on the beach and has a beautiful pool. The restaurant is beach side with amazing views of the ocean. I loved having breakfast there. Rooms had double doors, I assume to keep the street noise and the heat away and this worked perfectly. We were in the main building and had a cute balcony with superb views of the garden and ocean. Staff from the restaurant and pool were all friendly and helpful.

Rooms and especially the bathrooms are a bit tired but the hotel is probably oldish. I didn’t mind it as it didn’t affect the comfort. At the pool there are very few sun beds and umbrellas. We had no problem having one but it was low season and hardly any people. I am not sure how that works during high season.

Very clean. Helpful and friendly staff. Bungalow rooms spacious and air conditioning excellent. Restaurant very good with good food especially good for gluten free. Hoppers were gluten free and I had some bread made for me. Reasonable prices. Was good to not have people selling things from the beach when you were sitting there. Much better than Indonesia from that point of view. Beach very clean.

The factor 50 sun lotion in reception was ridiculously expensive at 80 us dollars. We had factor 30 but sun is so strong that you need some 50. Went into the town and got some for fraction of price. We were there over their new year so not so many shops open on the second day of the holiday. That’s because they are all up all night! Didn’t get massage as they closed at 4.30 and wanted an evening one. Found places outside very cheap and were more flexible.

Really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The room was spacious and clean and the location was perfect. Located right on the beach front but walk out the back of the hotel and everything is on your doorstep. The food in the restaurant was delicious with gorgeous views of the beach. The staff were very friendly including chef, waiters and pool boys and nothing was too much trouble. Would stay again in a heartbeat!

If you need a taxi (car or tuktuk) it is best to just walk outside the hotel and find someone. We asked reception for a taxi to Mirissa beach (10 minute journey) who quoted $35, but we walked outside and asked a tuktuk taxi who was sat just outside the hotel gates and he took us there for $5 - big difference!

Beautiful buildings in a great location with excellent restaurant and the grounds were kept lovely.The Restaurant staff and pool area staff go out of there way to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable.

Only slight negatives being reception staff need to work on there hospitality skills, engaging with the customers more and not just processing them like a factory line. Drinking water!! 4 star hotel needs to get rid of plastic drinking bottles and get filtered taps for drinking water. We experienced smaller hotels/guest houses on our travels that had invested the money in such things and not only does it reduce plastic it gives us more that .5l of free water a day.

Great location and facilities, good choice at breakfast and helpful staff. I had a massage which was great and the hotel generally felt very clean. We didn’t eat meals other than breakfast here. Our beach villa was lovely with so much space so we could feel at home during our trip. We were in the closest villa to the pool, away from the neighbouring Marriott which felt like a win for us. Housekeeping staff were also brilliant.

While the beach villa is gorgeous, but the bathroom could do with being updated. There was general wear and tear in places including some rusting of metal etc.

The beach was beautiful and the pool area felt very secure and well maintained. The food was really good and reasonably priced. Having my evening meal right at the beach was a highlight of my stay.

I had an issue with my arrival date and communicating that to the site was very difficult with a lack of cell phone coverage to call and spotty wi-fi. When we did get phone access, they refused to talk over the phone and would only work through chat. I had to argue a little too hard to get my dates adjusted and I was initially told I had to pay the full fee for both days. They finally agreed to a one day penalty and moving my reservation forward but that meant I had to rebook my second night on my own and into a lesser room due to availability. That could have been made more clear to me. To their credit, I was just one day over on my change restriction but given international travel was involved they could have been move flexible.

It's a perfect place if you want to relax. The pool and beach are literally next to each other, and the experience is great. It's got nice little restaurants near the resort on the beach that have a good vibe. There is a Ceylon spa which is an amazing place.

Staff's level of English is low, so it's a bit difficult to communicate. Menu was very few options, especially for kids. Massage/Spa is below par, you would expect a resort that has people coming to chill and relax would have a good option. They overcharge if you are using their car, and the quality of the car is below par too.

WBR was the perfect place to stay. If you are looking to go somewhere and be able to truly relax in a warm and welcoming environment then I would definitely recommend this place. The Hotel sits on the beach, when you dine in the restaurant you have a lovely view of the sea. The staff were always incredible friendly and helpful. The food was varied and always of a high quality. From this location you can walk along the beach for miles or just watch the surfers ride the ways, there is something amazing captivating about the place. I enjoyed my vacation immensely and would definitely return.

We booked WBR for the final part of our Sri Lankan trip and the team went above and beyond to make it extra special for us. The hotel is perfectly located and you have the option to dine on the beach at the Cutty Sark restaurant, which is the extra bonus. The pool and the hotel spa make your stay even more enjoyable and I feel utterly relaxed during (and after)my stay. Sitting on the beach watching the surfers with a fresh coconut or juice from the bar is heaven! A huge thank you to Nimanthi and her team for providing us with such fantastic memories of Weligama.

There was an issue with our room on the first night that we arrived but Nimanthi and her team resolved it the following day. WBR is a smaller hotel compared to the Marriot next door but with that comes a very personalised and caring approach for their guests
