Very comfortable beds and linens. Room was spacious, airy, and very clean. Bathroom was updated with walk-in shower and the marble and fixtures were very nice. I loved the built-in closets that held the microwave refrigerator, coffee maker, etc. the rooms are very well put together and comfortable.
They charge $37 per night for valet parking, however, when I pulled up in my car, the valet never came out to meet me. I had to go in and find the valet who was on her phone. I was thinking she would come out and help me with my bags, but she did not, nor did she offer to. So I started to struggle with my bags myself, and then I went in and asked her for a cart which she did go get for me. But I was really surprised and disappointed that she did not offer a cart when I arrived, since she didn’t offer to help me at all. Super disappointed with the arrival “valet” which was basically nonexistent. However, the next day upon checkout, the departure valet was wonderful. Night and day.

My friends and I traveled from out of town for a concert. With three of us it was nice finding accommodations that were centrally located and allowed for each of us to have a sleeping arrangement. The suite was spacious as was the bathroom. The valet offer is great because you're so close to many amazing bars and restaurants. We walked all over downtown. The fold out couch was not comfortable but when are they ever? It would have been smarter to just sleep on the couch as it was comfortable and long enough. Overall, a great hotel for a night or two. Will stay here again due to the location and spacious rooms.

Convenient location. Great price. Love the layout of the room, comfort of the sheets. Love the texting ahead of check in, online check in, opportunity to add things in advance. Really set a nice tone of engagement, efficiency, etc.
Shower leaked (couldn't stop the water flow) Toilet kept running (couldn't get it to stop) Need to align the online digital experience with in person. No one was at the front desk or valet when I arrived and there was no sign saying "be right back." I was told via the app and in person that valet parking was $33 yet was charged $37 which I realized only post my departure. When I called re: this the person who helped was friendly but the initial response was "oh yea, the price went up" and was going to leave it at that until I challenged to say you are marketing one price and charging me another. It was eventually resolved.

Staff were exceptionally friendly. From the front desk, to the bar, to the valet parking, every person was very welcoming and helpful. Truly the best experience I’ve had at a hotel (and I’ve been to MANY). The facilities were fantastic. The room was clean and comfortable. The bar/restaurant was cozy; although we did not eat there, the bartender went out of her way to accommodate our requests (decaf Irish coffee at 10pm because we were cold!). The valet staff were also super helpful, keeping our car close when we were in and out. Great gem of a hotel!
Nothing!

The people were exceptional! The rooms were amazing! The location to the place that I had to go was super convenient and close. I definitely will come back to the Commonwealth Hotel and recommend the Hotel to anyone going to that area.
One server in the restaurant attached to the hotel. She snatched money from me because I didn't want to put the charge on my credit card or charge it to my room. I had cash to pay for it and I did not want anything charged that didn't have to be.

The bed was extremely comfortable. I'm gonna get one of those mattresses! I booked at the last minute for just an overnight stay. A room was available when I got there and it was clean. I was able to walk just a few blocks to a great restaurant. I felt safe walking at night. Staff was friendly, but didn't really know the neighborhood. Being at such a central location, I expected more foot traffic and hustle and bustle, but it was really quiet.
There was nothing that needed to be fixed.

Very unique and large rooms. Beautiful bathroom. It was the best hotel I’ve stayed at in Richmond. The people at the front desk and valet guys were very friendly and helpful.
We had a bad experience with the waitress in the restaurant. She was dreadful . I have a feeling this was her usual approach to her job so we won’t be the only guests to have dealt with her. It ruined our visit. I don’t think it would be fair to give a bad review for the hotel based on this one employee.

We loved the room size, location of the hotel and comfortable beds.
The first night we arrived (Sunday), the front desk person and valet were professional but not friendly. It seemed like we were inconveniencing them. Also, the shower in the room was tricky. It was challenging to get the water hot or colder at times. There was a slight chemical smell in the hotel hallways. The staff and valet the last day of our stay (Wednesday) were much friendlier and more approachable.

Older, recently renovated building with a great, eccentric collection of artwork throughout the lobby halls and rooms. Great location downtown, especially if you're there for a show (like we were). The staff was especially friendly and made us feel welcome right away. Everything felt safe and even though it's not a new facility, you can tell there was a lot of care taken to give it a unique look. Would certainly stay again!
Please keep in mind, this is an older property so don't expect the flashiest of everything, but it's nicely designed and really reflects the city it's in. Perhaps one critique would be how awkwardly small the elevators, but my crew got a good chuckle out of it, and is a peek into the hotels former life.

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We booked two Roomy Queen suites and they were so perfect for a larger group. We loved having the living room area as an additional space to hang out and get ready.
When we first arrived, the air conditioning was not properly working in the living room areas of our two rooms so we had to call maintenance to fix it. They came super quickly and helped us turn it on so that it blew at a comfortable temperature.
