This was my second stay at this hotel, and I truly appreciated their thoughtful gesture of assigning me the same room as last time—it made me feel right at home. The staff paid great attention to every detail, and the hotel is managed exceptionally well. They also kindly arranged a transfer to our next hotel, which made our trip even smoother. The location is perfect—just a 3-minute walk to Kiyomizu-dera in the morning. The Japanese-style breakfast was delicious. Highly recommended!

Our days here were something special. We were in our honeymoon trip and the time we spent in Kyoto ,and specially in Seiryu Hotel, was amazing. The attention to detail, the facilities, the rooftop bar with the pagoda view, the tea ceremony, the incredible kind staff, the room, the breakfast… all of these is just a part of the excellence that makes this hotel the best in Kyoto! PS: by the way, the aroma in the common area and green tea ceremony area is extraordinary! Please I would like to know what kind of aroma you use there, we falled in love with it! The concierge, Ms Nakamura was outstanding… the property is incredible

The rooftop bar is run by a third party and has many tourists visiting the property thru the day / evening. Some of which get a bit rowdy. This takes away from the experience … I would have preferred a bar more in keeping with the rest of the hotel.

Even tough the bar keeps open till midnight, rooftop terrace was closing at 10pm, which is very early closing for a bar. The rooftop terrace is really nice and we wanted to spend more time there, but there was no time to sit at the terrace after a dinner. I wish it was also open till the midnight.

This hotel is truly one of the best we’ve ever stayed in. Set in a beautifully renovated former school, it blends history with impeccable style. The service was top-class, and our corner room—with a breathtaking view of the pagoda—was simply fabulous. We loved the bright, airy spaces filled with natural light, the peaceful green areas, and the cozy, elegant club lounge—perfect after a day of exploring. The location couldn’t be better, and the breakfast was excellent. A special highlight was the exclusive cultural experiences for guests, like the serene tea ceremony.

The hotel is very beautiful. Even though it’s in the busy area near Kiyomizu temple, but once you step inside the hotel ground it’s very quiet and peaceful as the hotel has its own enclosed area. The room is nice. We booked the room with pagoda view and loved it. But the best of all is the staff. The concierge Miss Mika is the best. She helped assist us with restaurants booking. My husband had some ear issue the concierge also helped us with finding the English speaking doctor and clinic.

I think the hotel can improve on the food standard. The breakfast is not bad but it’s not exceptional. It can be better. We also ate at Benoit, a restaurant in the hotel ground. The place and view is nice but the food is a bit below expectation.

The hotel is situated in the heart of Kyoto, right next to the iconic Kiyomizu Temple and famous walking streets; Ninenzaka and Sannensaka. The hotel’s location enables you to conveniently avoid the crowds during the early morning or late evening hours to explore the temple and the charming walking streets. The room is incredibly comfortable and features a spacious bathroom with a bathtub, perfect for unwinding after a long day of exploring. Don’t miss out on the lounge access, which adds to the overall relaxation experience. In the evening, you can also enjoy a breathtaking view of the Yasaka Pagoda from the hotel’s top floor. Breakfast is a set menu; which you will be offered with several choices. It was quite delicious for our taste.

There’s a paid parking lot right behind the hotel, but you have to make a significant turn through the crowd to access it after checking in your luggage. The hotel could provide valet service to make it easier to check in. The parking fee isn’t included in the room charge and the fee is quite high. Although the hotel employed non-Japanese staff, we encountered some challenges in communicating with them in English. The traffic in front of the hotel could be troublesome. During breakfast, the non-Japanese staff didn’t provide much explanation. We understood that the service might be less impressive due to the crowd, but it was still a bit inconvenient. Overall, we believe this hotel is worth trying, and you might fall in love with it as we have.

The staff was exceptional. Our plans changed, and they found an English-speaking guide for a private tour in less than an hour. The guide was tremendous, and this resulted in the best day we had in Kyoto. The property is also amazing. It feels like a serene oasis in a very busy area of Kyoto. The property also has excellent weight training equipment in the gym.
