A true deference is paid to the history of this gorgeous property by the proprietors, along with modern touches gracefully incorporated where we all appreciate them. Much thought is given for the guest experience from the practical of umbrellas and filtered water provided, to the ambience of music from a century ago drifting through and enriching the foyer and its artworks. A property that not only gives comfort but tells so many stories from within its walls and elegant gardens. Yes we really enjoyed our stay!

Everything about the property was amazing - it was so cozy, clean and central. The kitchen was also stocked with the basics like oil, salt, pepper, coffee, teas, and a small carton of milk. Enjoying a stay at a property is all in the little things, and the property managers had thought of everything.

It was quite windy in the area during our stay, so we noticed drafts in the property, and windows knocking around in their frames. It didn't ruin the stay, or even ruin our sleep, but it's definitely something that is noticeable.

Beautiful period house that retains many of its original features whilst still meeting modern day needs. Everything was clean and comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped. Parking was easy with plenty of spaces available. The town centre was just around the corner. If you want to be in Portland, this is a great place to stay.

Everything was great - just one small thing, the shower over the tub is not very high nor wide - just about ok for us as we are relatively short but may be tight for those a bit bigger.

The apartment was well heated, with a lovely big comfortable bed. It had a well-equipped kitchen, sunroom overlooking the gardens and a lovely yard with tables and chairs. It was well appointed to suit the historic building, with out being overstuffed. It was great!

More detailed instructions on the bed/lounge heater would be helpful. I wasn't quite sure how to turn it off or whether it was ok to do that.

From the moment I saw Annesley House from the outside, I knew I’d be in for a treat. Nicole was still on-site when I arrived and showed me to my room. She was very helpful in assisting me finding places for dinner and breakfast the following day. The house is absolutely stunning. It’s been fully renovated while keeping its integrity and paying respect to the era it was built in. The corridors smell amazing and the apartments are spotlessly clean. The high ceilings are simply amazing and, although they make everything feel spacious and luxurious, there’s still a feel of coziness and warmth. The bed is very comfortable and the luxurious bedding is really nice. The house is located a block away from the Main Street and a couple of hundred meters from the port. I absolutely loved my (short) stay in Annesley House and I hope I get to visit it again in the future!

A beautiful historic superior accommodation house in the middle of town, but just off the main street and super quiet. Easy to leave the car behind and walk the town. The room was beautifully presented with everything you need to cook a meal in the kitchenette. We had a separate sunny reading/relaxing room overlooking the garden and the claw foot bath was a luxury. Our host was a delight. So friendly and helpful with any queries. Loved this stay in Portland.

Nothing for us, but I guess if you cant manage stairs, an upstairs room is not for you, although there are also downstairs accomodation.

Annesley house is a lovely place to stay. Very comfortable and beautifully decorated with nice touches such as fresh flowers in the bedroom. Gorgeous garden to relax in. Entry in and out was electronic. The house itself has an interesting history too. Housekeeping staff were warm and friendly. Nothing was a bother!

Not just an apartment, it was a beautiful experience staying at Annesley House, the attention to detail in the furnishings were just beautiful, I just felt so content & comfortable. 5 stars in my opinion!! This is a must place to stay for a business trip or a personal getaway if you are staying in Portland!

Absolutely gorgeous restoration of an historic home with all the amenities required for a comfortable stay. The garden looks stunning and we could imagine ourselves sitting outside with a glass of wine in finer weather. The amazing artwork decorating the house was an added bonus. Would love to come back here.

I loved this historic residence. I stayed 3 nights in The Grande Apartment and it was delightful and as I expected it to be. Though on entering I was surprised that the sitting room shared a space with the bedroom. In this room is a gas operated fire surrounded by a marble fireplace. At night it is cosy in the sitting room with the gas fire lit. Netflix and SBS were both a bonus to watch on the Smart TV. In a separate room, I loved the small round marble top dining table. In the afternoon, sunlight bathed this area on a cool wintry day. it was not just a spot to eat, but a place to set up the laptop and work from. The wifi connection was strong. Down the narrow hall one then walked into the country style kitchen. It was a joy to cook in as had a double Fisher and Paykel cooktop and oven. As the Grande accommodates just 2 persons, there was ample cookware, utensils, crockery and glassware. I guess the only 2 things I found to be missing were a cutting board and a wooden spoon. I also loved the modern bathroom again tastefully done to compliment the apartment. The walk in shower was great in that the water pressure was so good and the water hot. Most of all I loved that the French doors in the kitchen opened onto the large garden and in the morning I could sit outside and enjoy my coffee. And what was not to like about the many windows that ran down all one side of the apartment letting in natural light

At night the bedroom was lit up. Because the Grande Apartment is at the front of the property the lights that shine on Annesley House and the garden area also light up the large bedroom / sitting area. There are blinds and sheer curtains in that front room, but they do not at all block out any light. If like me your preference is to sleep in a completely dark room, then invest in an eye mask.
