Everything about this little break at the Cross Inn was wonderful. We were treated like family by the staff, and nothing was too much trouble for them. The authentic Thai food cooked freshly in house was to die for, and the location magically serene overlooking the hills and moors. Breakfast was also very good, a banquet of food set out fresh every day, and cooked breakfast also available on request. The Inn itself is very old and inviting. All rooms were clean and kept to a high standard. Plenty of complimentary tea and coffee in the room, and also bottles of water. Heptonstall village itself is a magically historical time warp high up above hebdon bridge. The old, old houses and medieval church ruins adding much to the overall atmosphere. Everyone should visit this very special little village and of course stay at the Cross Inn. We definitely intend to return here. For me it was Paradise.

Nothing. What's not to like here.

This was a real gem of a place! I received a warm welcome and although I had booked a single room with a shared bathroom, had a room with an ensuite. The room was very clean and comfortable. The food was absolutely wonderful! The pub specialises in Thai food and the cooking was fab - I had one of the best veggie Pad Thai meals I've ever eater in finished this off with lovely banana fritters and ice cream. Along with a lovely pint (they have an excellent selection of real ales) this rounded off the day really well. The bed was comfortable and the breakfast lovely - really well cooked. The Crown Inn exceeded my expectations - excellent value for money, and I will be returning (specially to sample more of the food and drink!). Thank you - a really good stay!

Nothing - I loved it all!

The Thai food is delicious and a welcome respite if you've been restricted to the usual regional pub fare lately. One of our group members said it was her favorite stay on our 6-day hike. Breakfast was simple, standard continental (yogurt, cereal, fruits, toast & spreads, juices, etc), vegetarian hot breakfast is just eggs + toast + salad if you request it. The ground floor pub downstairs is a local favorite, but we had a quiet & good sleep. Glad the room had opaque shades in order to sleep properly in summer hours.

Could use some more vertical space to hang things, like clothes hangers and wall hooks, but satisfied overall.

Heptonstall for those who haven’t been is a quiet little hamlet with historic church and graveyard, 2 pubs, post office/shop, cafe and museum. It is a narrow street and car park entrance though there is a bigger car park a bit further away. It is only a mile or so from the busier town of Hebden Bridge but is up an extremely steep hill so the little bus, taxi or car is a good alternative to walking back up. The Cross Inn offers a more relaxed accommodation than the more hectic town below. It has a few rooms upstairs in the pub. Our room 2 was large, had a mid century styling vibe with a sofa by the large window overlooking the street. The shower was in the bath. Towels were nice. Continental breakfast laid out in the morning and option of cooked meat or veg hot breakfast (free but order the night before). Good coffee at breakfast.

The pub stays open til midnight on Friday and Saturday, and there is no door at the stairs bottom, so sound will and does carry up. Bed was king size (good) but hard and very squeaky (not so good).

On first appearances the pub looked a bit tired downstairs. I turned up late at 22.30 as I'd just finished the Spine race (43 mile running race across the Pennines). I'd messaged ahead to warn them and they were very accomodating. The bar man was obviously busy but quickly showed me to my room. The room was spotless, it was well presented and comfortable. It had an added bonus of a bath. It had tea, coffee and bottled water. I couldn't face the cooked breakfast in the morning due to being washed out from the run but it looked really nice and other guests rated it. The staff were lovely. Overall a hidden gem at a bargain price.

Loved Heptonstall village.Quiet and quaint, away from the more touristy Hebdon Bridge. The Cross Inn is comfortable.Clean twin room and nice bathroom.Ideal for short visit.Continental breakfast ok but disappointed there were no croissants! A limited cooked breakfast can be booked the night before. Friendly bar staff.Thai food in the evening was good and nicely served.Would recommend the Cross Inn,especially in an appealing area for walking .Steep path to Hebden Bridge but good exercise!

Only a very minor quibble. No marmalade or honey for breakfast toast!

Gem of a place....Staff were so friendly and attentive....great food especially Chef Linda's Thai chicken signature dish...Wow!!

NO negatives from me but something you should bear in mind if arriving by train or on foot the walk up to the property from town is VERY steep and you need to be very fit and mobile to attempt it........that said the views are great when you reach the top but be warned......you can catch the bus 596 from town up to the property or a taxi costs a £5 cash or £6 by card.

Location could not be better and I recommend anyone considering staying in Hebden Bridge to come this 1 mile further and stay here, such a historic and beautiful place. The pub is lovely with traditional floors and an amazing range of ales. Good welcome from the host.

I went for the 'continental breakfast' as the description of the cooked breakfast was limited - bacon, fried egg (only), bread, salad and vinegar. The toast and cereals were fine, not a great breakfast, but something to start the day.

I travel a lot and this is one of the best hotels/inns I've been to. It's an old house, and it looks like it, but it is by no means dirty or otherwise uncomfortable in the rooms. The pub downstairs is a nice atmosphere, and one needs to expect the noise, but I didn't mind them. The service is impeccable. I have rarely seen staff that is this friendly, considerate, and caring. I would give 11 of 10 points for them, if I could. The location in the village is a nice one, I just warn everyone to take the bus up, because walking, especially with luggage, will be a task for sure. Overall, this was a great experience, and I see myself returning when I visit Heptonstall again.

Made very welcome on arrival, my room was airy, clean, cool and bright. I ate a tasty Thai meal of ribs and Pad Thai, complements to the Chef. My bed was comfortable and the shower was modern & warm. I enjoyed the complementary breakfast before checking out and walking the hill road down to Hebden. The village of Heptonstall has a lot of history and character and well worth exploring, and is only a quick bus ride up from Hebden Bridge. Great views across the valley. I look forward to my next visit and stay at The Cross.
