Candelo Hotel Utsunomiya is a new hotel in a fabulous location beside the train station. It is easy to access across the elevated pedestrian walkway. The hotel lobby is on a higher floor accessed via a lift entry from the walkway. Our room was comfortable and a good size, with views over the station area. Staff were helpful, and our 4 night stay to travel each day to attend the Motegi Japan Moto GP was a success. The bus pick up & drop off for the Moto GP event was located beside the Candeo hotel, which was great. There were many restaurant options in the area, including in the building where the Candeo hotel is located. There were also many shops, a convenience store & supermarket.The train station also had many food options, and some lovely shopping. I would choose this hotel again as it was a positive experience.

Chose it for easy train access, didnt disappoint - also got great access to shops, light rail, rooftop pool / spa and laundromat in building a handy feature

No dedicated hotel parking (though minor issue as numerous surrounding parking facilities)

I thought the hotel was clean and modern and I enjoyed using the spa. It is in a good location and had no issues during my stay. Would recommend.

As a vegetarian the breakfast was slightly limited in what it offered for this. Unfortunately, booking through Booking.com meant that they could not provide me with an invoice. This is an issue as I require one for my expenses, so may affect my decision to book this hotel again or more likely use another way of booking instead.

This was our third time staying here. The top floor, outdoor onsen, gives you a beautiful view and feels secluded even though you're in the heart of the city. Rooms are clean, and the beds are comfortable. The staff at registration spoke English, so check-in was a breeze. It's located a short walk from the Utsunomia train station and mall, which gave us a choice of restaurants and shops (which is a must because my husband has a lot of food intolerances). We travel this way about once a year, and plan to stay at the Candeo every time.

The first time we opted for the breakfast buffet, the selection was large. It was considerably smaller during our last stay. I'm not sure if that is a permanent change or do to the season.

Very stylish and cleverly designed room with a couch next to the window for a lovely view. Very good bed.

No tea or coffee in the room. Which makes the catle not usable if you already went to bed. You don't go outside to take it near the reception. Breakfast itself is good, but the breakfast room is crammed. Too much tables for too little space. The tables where the breakfast is served are also not placed wisely. You have to wait for people who are standing by other food, than the ones you want to have. A bit more light in the hallway would have been nice.

Stayed for a couple of nights. The hotel is very close to the station, on top of a small shopping centre with a Daiso and some small eateries and cafes, so it makes for an excellent travel base if you want to explore nearby areas on a day trip like Nikko. The room was comfortably sized for one person. The baths on the 14th floor are also clean and well maintained with toiletries, but remember to bring your towels from your room as they do not provide extra towels. Checkout is painless with a drop box for your room key near the hotel entrance.

After attending an event about a 15 min drive from the hotel around 8pm on a Sunday night, I called the hotel to ask if they could arrange for a taxi pickup from the location I was at, as uber wasn't picking up any nearby drivers. Wires may have been crossed due to language barriers but reception staff were unable to help or provide alternatives for a safe pickup and told me in very plain English to make my way back to the hotel by myself. Disappointing. If you don't need to communicate with staff, you will have a reasonable stay.

Great location, value and facilities. We used as a base to explore Nikko. Good room size and right near the train station

Didn't allow use of onsen due to tattoo's. This wasn't advertised and their onsen was the reason I booked. While I'm conscious of the history behind this, I feel it's very antiquated. (A white tourist obviously isn't Yakuza)

We got a room on the 14th floor (top floor) which also has the spa. The rooms are modern, comfortable with a nice view.

Booked and paid through booking.com for me and my teenage son. Upon check in I was told I needed to pay extra since my son is considered an adult when 13 or older. I had given my son's age when I made the booking and after pointing that out they said ok. When arriving early at 2:30 pm they said they wouldn't hold our luggage until check-in which I found a bit odd. When heading to the elevator, they did catch up with us and allowed us to check in early without extra cost though.

The Candeo in Utsunomiya is the quietest hotel I have ever stayed in. There was no noise from the hall or from upstairs or rooms next door. The drapes blocked out the early sunrise (4:30 a.m.) so we were able to sleep. The drapes also blocked the afternoon heat, and the air conditioning worked wonderfully. We slept through a thunderstorm that woke up our family that lives in Utsunomiya. (We happened to be awake during one thunderstorm and had a great view from our 7th floor room; it was spectacular.) The staff at the desk were very helpful when we had to change our plans and extend our stay by a few days.
