I love the Hotel Elysee. It's impeccably run - Joseph and AJ are helpful, friendly and efficient - and has a certain old world elegance and lots of character you won't find in vast, impersonal global chain hotels. My bedroom was extremely large, exceptionally quiet and with a marvellously comfortable bed, pillows and duvet. The club room down on the 1st floor offers all you need for a good breakfast and is open until midnight for simply relaxing, reading and enjoying fresh machine-made coffee , fruit and other snacks. Perfect for hanging out when not out and about in Manhattan. Although some of the furnishings are a bit tired and need renovation, I found the easy comfort of this place quite perfect. This would always be my first choice of hotel- and location wise it couldn't be better it's so central.

My main criticism is that there is no butter or vegetable spread to put on those deliciously light and fresh croissants at breakfast. Also it would be a good idea to add the option of hot chocolate to the otherwise excellent coffee and hot drinks making machine.

I’ve traveled all over the world and this hotel is superb!! Check in was fast, staff were very welcoming and friendly. I was upgraded to a king room with outdoor terrace and it was perfect. The hotel is not super modern but instead a boutique hotel with history and character which is why I chose it. The bed was sooo comfy, the bathroom had all the amenities needed (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion) and plenty of towels. The 2nd floor library room was relaxed and lovely to spend time there. Breakfast was in the library and had coffee, pastries, fruit, yogurts, boiled eggs - simple but a great start to the day. The library had complimentary coffee, drinks and snacks all day/evening too which was great. I would definitely stay here again and I highly recommend staying here if you’re looking for value for money, a great location - literally 5 min walk and you’re on 5th Avenue, and spacious rooms.

Excellent hotel in a great location. The staff were genuine and friendly. The breakfast/snack room on the second floor was a nice touch with good coffee, tea and pastries. Decent yoghurts, crisps, fruit and cereal bars. Always chilled water and refreshing sodas available. Our room was on the 7th floor. Unfortunately no view, but instead we had a conservatory with frosted glass, blinds and a/c which was a real bonus and a great additional space. The bed was comfortable and the linens were good quality. Some other reviews have mentioned the bathroom being small - I don’t know if we were lucky with our room or if we’re just accustomed to smaller facilities in the UK, but we found the bathroom to be beautiful. The daily maid service was discreet and exceptional. Don’t go to a soulless chain - enjoy some genuine service and hospitality at a hotel with real character, stay at Hotel Elysee.

Shocking for what my booking described as breakfast... $320 1 night for 2 x double bed does not reflect on breakfast experience when I opened my blurry eyelids next morning (have then a bit of a rub, made no difference)... Yoghurt biscuit/biscuits... coffee.. banana, tangerine, apple... When I pay top dollar "to dollar overseas" (Dollar is US) ... generally top breakfast (as per example pics from elsewhere)... However... even given the New York prices excuse... Where is the hot breakfast..? Shaving down overheads. If you did full breakfast, you'd have a gem...

The location, the staff and the comfort of the room were all amazing. The decor is classic and very much part of the character of the place. The club room with complimentary snacks and drinks available all day is a brilliant feature of the hotel. The shower had good pressure and plenty of hot water.

We were visiting at the end of January when the outside temperatures were low so therefore had the room heater on regularly. This heater is loud and we needed earplugs to help us sleep, but this didn't detract from a perfect stay.

The central location of this hotel was ideal for our visit. It was close to two metro stations and multiple bus routes that we frequented. The bedrooms were quiet, spacious, comfortable and clean. Access to the adjoining Monkey Bar downstairs was handy and the salon/lounge area on floor two with free drinks and nibbles was a nice touch. The staff were efficient and friendly.

The only two areas I would suggest for improvement were the breakfast and the WiFi. Breakfast would be significantly enhanced with the addition of bread/toast and perhaps one or two cold meats. The pastries were lovely but some additional less sugary options would have been nice. We found the WiFi to be slow and unreliable. I think there was a lot of traffic shaping going on as connection speeds would start off at a very healthy 100Mbps and then would often tail off to mere kilobytes per second. The internet access was heavily firewalled too -- only TCP ports 25, 80, 110, 443, 993 seemed to be allowed. As such, I wouldn't say that the WiFi was suitable for remote working, especially if you need to use a corporate VPN.

The porters were incredibly helpful, ensuring my luggage was promptly taken care of and providing a warm welcome. The reception staff were equally impressive, handling my check-in smoothly and answering all my queries with a smile. The housekeeping team deserves a special mention as well. My room was immaculate each day, with everything neatly arranged and spotless. Speaking of the rooms, they were nothing short of fantastic—spacious, well-appointed, and impeccably clean. It felt like a home away from home, providing the perfect space to relax after a day of sightseeing. The hotel's location is another major highlight. Situated in a prime spot, it offered easy access to all the major attractions and transportation hubs. Whether I was heading out for a day of exploring or looking for a nice restaurant nearby, everything was conveniently close. One of the standout features of my stay was the club room on the second floor. It was simply amazing! The ambiance was serene, offering a perfect retreat with a variety of amenities that made my stay even more enjoyable. It was the perfect place to unwind, enjoy a drink, and reflect on the day's activities. Overall, my experience at this hotel was exceptional. The staff, the rooms, the location, and the club room all contributed to a truly memorable stay. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable, convenient, and luxurious place to stay. I look forward to returning on my next visit!

The location is excellent, and the lounge room with complimentary snacks and continental breakfast was a real plus. The old world feel and generous sized rooms with decent closet and draw space was very welcomed. The staff were very helpful. Unfortunately, we couldn't get a table at the Monkey Bar. You need to book in advance. It's very popular!

The bathroom was a bit small, but I think this is typical of New York hotel rooms.

Before we arrived the staff was very helpful. We requested 3 rooms that were all close together with two adjoining, which was just perfect. We requested a 4th room for one night only which was on a different floor. The staff arranged for us to have a card, champagne and flowers in the room when we arrived, amazing!! Parking was $40/day and we were happy that partial days were not charged. The 2nd floor lounge area always had enough space to accommodate our large party. Everything was perfect!

The quiet, quaint, charm. I liked the snacks offered and the late checkout time.
