The spa is lovely. The room was comfortable with good amenities. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Location is pretty. Overall a very nice hotel and would return. The man who works in the spa/gym is lovely and goes out of his way to help you out and check in with you.

The 5% service charge on the room was unnecessary. The cost of the stay is already high so not sure how an additional 5% is tacked on for something you're already paying for. There was also a 12.5% charge at dinner for service. Although these are optional, they rely on guests feeling too awkward to ask that the fees be removed. They should not be standard. When we arrived, we were asked about booking dinner. We did this but were told that no tables were available between 18:30 and 20:15. We had to cut our spa visit short to make the table at 18:00. The restaurant was mostly empty during our dinner visit right up until we left around 19:00 so this was quite frustrating.

The welcome by Philip, the doorman/butler was amazing. He made us so welcome and he is the most valuable asset to this hotel creating the very best first impressions and beyond. A try gentleman. The Hotel was beautiful, rooms comfortable, the indoor/ outdoor spa amazing, food great… we absolutely enjoyed our stay. Thank you

Too many dogs in the restaurant…. Although we really like dogs, after a dinner surrounded by dogs we had to request a breakfast table away from the four legged friends. Moving forward we would recommend the hotel to consider either a more premium/ separate area for an evening meal for demanding customers. Or to create a dedicated area in the main restaurant to accommodate dogs and young children away from the rest of the guests. Considering the size of the restaurant, this should not be difficult.

The spa seating area was excellent. The food was good and the morning team in the breakfast restaurant were fabulous. An excellent breakfast was served. We didn't have our dog but we were delighted to see how welcome they were in such a hotel. Seriously made welcome like no where I have seen before. The dog owners were brilliant as well btw they were very well behaved super job and one of our group really doesn't like them!

The very worst is booking a spa weekend and being unable to book any spa treatments two weeks out. Seriously folks if your selling a spa weekend you need to provide spa treatments it just not good enough to say your full to people staying in the hotel.

Stunning and immaculate hotel located in the beautiful countryside. I chose this hotel as a gift for my wife’s birthday and it did not disappoint. The spa facilities were fantastic, the staff’s professionalism and courteous were of the highest quality we have experienced at a hotel. The personal touch of a concierge giving us a tour of the hotel and taking our luggage to our room was something that we have not experienced before, and I really think this was a very professional and warming impression on our stay. Thank you once again for making my wife’s 30th birthday in her words “one of her favourites”!

Every single member of staff provided fabulous service. The hotel is beautifully decorated throughout and has both the traditional open fires etc in the main building and the modern facilities in the new extension with the exceptional Spa with outdoor pool which surprising you will find to be more than happy to be in on a cold December evening with saunas hot tub and plunge pool all adding to the experience. The fine dining restaurant was exceptional and would recommend without any hesitation.

From the moment we arrived, the whole experience felt like a special retreat. The country charm, the beautiful property, and the spa all made it unforgettable. As soon as we stepped into the reception area, we were welcomed by the comforting scent of the crackling open fire, which immediately set the tone for our stay. We spent one night to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday, and the thoughtful touch of a birthday board and brownie waiting in the room made it extra special. The views from our room (Room 7) were absolutely stunning, and it was such a treat to sink into the big, comfy bed after enjoying turn-down service in the evening (I’ve never had that before!). Breakfast was great too. The spa was simply incredible - we could have stayed there all day, and I already find myself missing it. Everything about our stay made us feel relaxed and spoiled. We can’t wait to return!

The only small downside for us was the food options. While we really appreciated the variety of restaurants and relaxed dining spaces, some of the menus leaned heavily on local game, which my boyfriend isn’t a big fan of. A few more classic or simpler dishes alongside the creative offerings would have been perfect.

WOW! From the moment we drove in we knew it was going to be magical. Phillip at the front door is fabulous and couldn’t be more helpful during our entire stay, sorting restaurant reservations and suggesting nice walks for us. Our rooms (we had a suite for the first 3 nights, and decided to book an extra night and moved into the “new” part) were stunning, the spa is next level and both restaurants were amazing. We golfed one day too and the course was right up there, and the driving range was kitted out with all the tech you need. All of the staff were amazing, the best customer service we’ve had in Scotland for a lonnnng time, and better than any other luxury hotel in Scotland, 100%! We’re now hoping to go back for Christmas and/or New Year :)

The clubhouse is a bit underwhelming, not very cosy/comfy or inviting. We were there for the Ryder cup and thought it would have been more of an experience. In Charlie’s restaurant, the steak option for 2 (or more) always seemed to be a minimum of 800g (we tried to order this on 2 nights) and this was simply too much for us. Would be good to have more of a “steak menu”…?

The spa is phenomenal, I could have spent a full day there going from the pool, to sauna, to jacuzzi to day bed. I particularly liked the abundance of day beds to relax on, reading enjoying the complimentary tea refreshments. The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to help. The hotel room was spotless, beautifully decorated and perfect temperature. The mattress was probably the comfiest I have slept on in a hotel. The breakfast was very satisfying, a range that covered all tastes. Communal areas are very nice to sit in, indoors and outdoors.

Drinks. £16 for a single rum and coke.... The coffee machine in the room didn't seem to work properly and leaked. The location meant that in the evening we needed a taxi to and from Kelso which were hard to come by so resulted in a long wait.

Helpful staff went above and beyond. Spa was fantastic, the heated pool and the saunas. We also loved the generous breakfast and had dinner twice over our 3 night stay and food and service was perfect. Really enjoyed our spacious and warm room in the new area and the large fire places around the old part of the hotel. Easy access for mobility issues and disabled room had the perfect easy access shower. The market shop was a great find. The whisky and gin bar were quite special. Water every night in the room and a turn down service was a lovely added surprise.

Minor point, we would have liked more hooks to put our robes in various places around the hotel. There was a fire alarm test on a Monday that we didn’t know about that surprised us.

We stayed just one night at Schloss Roxburghe as part of a Highlands road trip, but the warmth of the welcome made it one of the most memorable stops. The staff were incredibly friendly, and our dog, Teddy, was treated like royalty — he absolutely loved it. Our room was modern and very comfortable, with everything we needed. Dinner was quite good, if slightly on the expensive side, and the overall atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. It’s a lovely property with a polished but unfussy feel, and we’d be happy to return for a longer stay next time.

Dinner felt slightly gratuitously expensive. The whisky bar is not dog-friendly. The room didn't have a bath tub which feels like a bit of an oversight for a newly built wing.
