Small family hotel with friendly helpful staff. We were staying for 3 nights and had booked the small double but got upgraded to the triple room which was spacious. Both room and ensuite were spotless. Towels were big and soft. Food was tasty, well presented and very large portions. BR had good selection of beers, spirits and wine.

Pillows were too hard for me and couldn't see tv from bed or sofa but free WiFi meant I could relax with my ipad instead. Room curtains didn't close properly and so street lights shone in which may disturb some as the blinds were not black out blinds. Trying to use hair dryer took negation as plug was next to bathroom door with mirror on wardrobe. L ighting was not great for using the mirror either unless daylight which is in short supply in December in Scotland. There were side lights over the beds and bathroom mirror though.

Breakfast was very good. Good porridge, plenty of food. Delicious coffee. Good service. We also ate the Sunday roast. Vegetables were delicious. There was LOTS of food. Staff were very nice, helped us with transportation arrangements and loaned us an electric converter. This is a charming, old fashioned family owned hotel with a pub and restaurant. Our room was comfortable, very large, with 3 big windows overlooking the town. Located in the center of town, walkable to everywhere.

Shower wasn't great and main bed not overly comfortable.

Room was a lovely mix of modern and cozy aesthetics. Very functional despite its size. Really appreciated the pillows choice with different thickness! Hair drier and good quality of shower products are also nice touch. Bathroom was surprisingly big. Staff was lovely, took every extra care to make us feel welcome and comfortable. They like dogs and are genuinely helpful in making them feel at ease (e.g. trying to leave some space for each dog between tables, bringing treats, etc). Breakfast was delicious and we stayed for dinner too (not included) - delicious and comfy food and decently priced. Good choices of beers too. Dog note: I have a small dog and could fit its blanket in the coat niche. For bigger dog I'd recommend asking for a bigger room.

Outside our room there was a neighbour Heat pump which was a bit noisy - just worth bringing a pair of ear plug just in case.

The room was very comfortable, spacious, clean and looked after. The shower room was very well appointed. The beds were comfortable and a good size. Breakfast was well cooked with a wide choice of hot and cold dishes and drinks. Dinner was very enjoyable although slightly limited in choice. The public areas associated with the bar were well thought out affording private sitting areas when required.

Unfortunately, because of the hotel's location, there are no parking facilities except on the public road opposite.

Great value venue. Evening meal was fantastic , one of the regulars recommended the fish and chips and I dont think I’ve ever had a better F+C, it was perfectly cooked. Great central location and managed to park in the main square for free. The en-suite was high spec. We had the dog with us so we were given a v nice table for breakfast and dinner in the lounge part of the bar next to the restaurant which was perfect and a bit more space so more relaxing.

This hotel has the most incredibly friendly staff from the owners right through, everyone is so helpful nothing is too much trouble, even the locals in the bar just make you feel so welcome, especially Paul with his banter. I can't recommend this hotel high enough, simply the best people we have met in a long time, and the food is excellent the best lasagne I've ever tasted. We are so looking forward to going back again soon.

Cracking hotel in the centre of Melrose. Wonderful staff, great food, very accommodating and friendly. Extremely dog friendly

Parking is a bit of an issue but it’s the nature of Melrose. Shower head was a bit problematic but still the shower was warm and wet lol.

The room was excellent , roomy and bathroom excellent , all cleanliness top level. Breakfast as a cooked meal was again just what I wanted and when asked to change something for my wife on the salmon , no problem. The lady serving us in the morning and doing our room was friendly , courteous and top class !!1

Happy with everything we needed

The location was great for our purpose of exploring the Borders. There was a free car park nearby and good choices for meals. We loved the entertainment the first night. Elaine was most helpful with our bags (no lift) and with breakfast and all our questions. The beds were super comfy and everything was very clean and tidy. The bar service was great, too.

A lift would have helped my husband because he was in pain with his leg.
