The spa is lovely. The room was comfortable with good amenities. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Location is pretty. Overall a very nice hotel and would return. The man who works in the spa/gym is lovely and goes out of his way to help you out and check in with you.

The 5% service charge on the room was unnecessary. The cost of the stay is already high so not sure how an additional 5% is tacked on for something you're already paying for. There was also a 12.5% charge at dinner for service. Although these are optional, they rely on guests feeling too awkward to ask that the fees be removed. They should not be standard. When we arrived, we were asked about booking dinner. We did this but were told that no tables were available between 18:30 and 20:15. We had to cut our spa visit short to make the table at 18:00. The restaurant was mostly empty during our dinner visit right up until we left around 19:00 so this was quite frustrating.

The welcome by Philip, the doorman/butler was amazing. He made us so welcome and he is the most valuable asset to this hotel creating the very best first impressions and beyond. A try gentleman. The Hotel was beautiful, rooms comfortable, the indoor/ outdoor spa amazing, food great… we absolutely enjoyed our stay. Thank you

Too many dogs in the restaurant…. Although we really like dogs, after a dinner surrounded by dogs we had to request a breakfast table away from the four legged friends. Moving forward we would recommend the hotel to consider either a more premium/ separate area for an evening meal for demanding customers. Or to create a dedicated area in the main restaurant to accommodate dogs and young children away from the rest of the guests. Considering the size of the restaurant, this should not be difficult.

The spa seating area was excellent. The food was good and the morning team in the breakfast restaurant were fabulous. An excellent breakfast was served. We didn't have our dog but we were delighted to see how welcome they were in such a hotel. Seriously made welcome like no where I have seen before. The dog owners were brilliant as well btw they were very well behaved super job and one of our group really doesn't like them!

The very worst is booking a spa weekend and being unable to book any spa treatments two weeks out. Seriously folks if your selling a spa weekend you need to provide spa treatments it just not good enough to say your full to people staying in the hotel.

Every single member of staff provided fabulous service. The hotel is beautifully decorated throughout and has both the traditional open fires etc in the main building and the modern facilities in the new extension with the exceptional Spa with outdoor pool which surprising you will find to be more than happy to be in on a cold December evening with saunas hot tub and plunge pool all adding to the experience. The fine dining restaurant was exceptional and would recommend without any hesitation.

The property is in fantastic location, amazing feeling to live in an old castle vibes. The the area is full of site seeing, castles, family activities. Wow!! The staff, front desk is is amazing.

No laundry. No 24 room service. Limited menue. No limousine service. Challenging in logistics, rare taxi activities near the hotel, and rail station is 30 mints away! You have to rent a car to enjoy the vacation. Otherwise the logistics will be always a concern. Breakstaf staff not used to tourists from middle east, some attitude is there. Easy the feel the attitude during the breakfast.

Charlie’s restaurant is a bit pricey and has limited menu considering we had dinner there every night. Adding service charges and tip made it plain expensive . The food is very good, cannot fault it. The spa has limited offers of drinks and snacks, they could step up and offer non alcoholic cocktails and smoothies The jacuzzi would benefit from adding anti foaming treatment and the aroma sauna had no aromas whatsoever.

Beautiful location. Really friendly staff. We were lucky enough to check in an hour early and had an upgrade to a room with a balcony! Spa facilities are fabulous (although no loungers available mid afternoon Sunday when we went to use the spa, I think there were several people on day spa packages?) Complimentary tea and coffee in the bar on arrival was a great touch. And we took it outside to enjoy in the sunshine. The decor in the main bar is lovely and a great location for pre dinner drinks. We found dinner very overpriced for the standard of food. We stayed 2 years ago, just after it had been refurbished. It was great to see everything fully finished eg the outdoor spa area is now all paved/gravel rather than some grass. And the staff are now a lot more experienced and there are more staff. We look forward to staying again in the future.

Breakfast was fantastic. A lot on offer as a buffet style plus continental offers and there was a chef to make you eggs, pancakes, omelettes to your liking. Staff were very friendly and happy to help. It’s a family friendly hotel and we went with a 3 month old baby, a baby bath, changing mat and baby bin where provided for us and there was an option for a cot but we had a travel one. Meals at the restaurant where excellent to. Every single member of staff we came across was amazing and so friendly and willing to help.

Refilling of tea/coffee/milk and sugar in the rooms didn’t happen and we had to ask for more.

The hotel was glorious! Lovely vintage and luxurious decor for a start and gorgeous spa where you get free tea and fruit. The roaring fires all round the hotel and the little cosy nooks are great. But the staff are what makes this place so great. Every single person was fabulous, attentive and so positive and helpful. From the brilliant George welcoming us and showing us to our room, who made us feel so at home, to Graham in Charlie’s who was the best waiter we have ever had! Found us a wine not on the menu, got my partner a birthday brownie and was so attentive. Also Ella at reception who was so lovely and patient when we were checking out. They found us some board games too and helped us decorate the room for my partners birthday. It was so nice to be somewhere where the staff seem genuinely proud to work there and genuinely want to make sure you have the best experience…they certainly do the job! We will definitely be back I would say it is the best overnight we’ve ever had in Scotland.
