Beautiful building interior & exterior. Plenty parking near entrance of B&B. Selkirk shopping area accessible & near by. Lots of historical interest around. Price for 3 nights with breakfast included. Dog friendly & very low costing added for same. Evening meal Mon - Thurs, restaurants/take away close by. Pre-order b'fast night before & allocated time of our choice. T & coffee tray in room, flat screen TV, view from room. Comfy clean room. Antoinette & Steve lovely, helpful owners, nothing seems a problem. ALREADY planning to use The Glen for future travel.

Plug sockets scarce in room i.e for charging phone by bedside. Adapted to situation with no problem. No other negatives!

The owners kindly gave us 2 lovely family rooms - so nice not to be fobbed off with a sofa bed for the extra child for a change! Spacious and comfortable with a nice en suite and a delicious breakfast. Was nice to find a heater in the room as we were cold from our seaside day. Dog-friendly with a park round the corner to take the hound for her morning pee. Beautiful building in a lovely setting - good value. Owners super-friendly and helpful.

Bedroom smelt strongly of cigarettes - a real pet hate of mine. May be trapped in some of the old furnishings? Lighting could be softer in bedside lamps.

Our stay at the Glen Guesthouse was a positive and relaxing experience. The period property had a homely and welcoming feel to it, which was confirmed by Steve who greeted us upon arrival who was polite and courteous too.Our room was relaxing,clean and comfortable,with nice views of the countryside beyond. Our breakfast was very good,nicely presented and cooked and most welcome. Overall a very nice stay, thank you very much.

PERFECT is the only term that can qualify this outstanding establishment : impoising and manor like exteriorly, but happily surrounded by beautiful ground and flowers. Warm welcome on arrival, fantastic, spacious room where no comfort or detail is missing, very good bed AND armchairs, very quiet. Spacious and pleasant bar and restaurant, and the best food we’ve had among the 10 hotels we’ve stayed at during our trip. It is truly wonderful to end our journey on such a wonderful note. Thank you Glen Hotel and all its staff!

Nothing : all was perfect

Spacious room, comfortable bed, lovely shower, spotlessly clean. Good nights sleep.

Not keen on pre-ordering breakfast, but delicious when arrived. We chose to eat out in the evening as only one dish available, and no choice offered. Returning at 8.30pm nowhere available to sit as a group of 4. Bar closed and in darkness. This did not feel welcoming. I understand no longer claiming to be a hotel, but comfortable lounge area for guest use was expected.

A lovely pet-friendly guest house in a historic building with a warm & welcoming atmosphere. The owners were very friendly & accommodating. They even thoughtfully arranged my table in the dining room so that my dog could lie in front of the fire. The evening meal was delicious - good hearty food, as was breakfast. The meals had to be booked in advance but this was easily done & meant no waiting for the food to be served. A nice quiet location on the edge of the town with a pleasant riverside walk from the door which was great for my dog. The bedroom was perfectly adequate for my overnight stay with a good hot shower & kettle in the room. I would certainly stay here again.

The bedroom decor was a little dated & in need of refreshment but it was in keeping with the style of the building & I prefer a hotel with character to modern bland grey. I couldn’t turn the radiator on in the en-suite bathroom but the radiator in the bedroom was excellent so it wasn’t a problem for my one night stay.

Breakfast excellent, wide variety of options, cooked breakfast very good quality. Room large with superb views, comfortable bed and lovely shower. Hosts friendly and helpful with places to visit. Very close to town and restaurants. Would not hesitate to return if visiting the area again.

Nothing that we did not like about The Glen

The overall hotel, the location, the facilities all met our needs for 1 night. Breakfast was good and well cooked.

The room was frozen upon arrival, and I had to put an extra heater on. This isn't what you want after travelling and the weather was cold and raining. A nice warm welcome would have been appreciated. No evening meals Fri - Sun, which wasn't great. And, although pet friendly, the dogs can't use the grounds, and there are no grass surroundings to search for in the pouring rain.

I have stayed at this property before, so I suppose the fact that I returned tells its own story. The Glen is easy to find and has decent car parking. I was travelling by motorbike and I felt comfortable with the parking arrangements for my bike. The accomodation itself is nice and is only a short (10 minute or so) walk from the twon centre. My bed was huge and very comfortable and my room was a good size, although I was on the front of the hotel facing the road I wasnt aware of any traffic noise at all really. Breakfast was decent (pre-order the eveing before) and was cooked freshly for me. Location is good for the road to Moffat that passes St Marys loch - a superb road for bikers and one I have done many many times over the years. I'd be happy to stay there again if travelling in the area

Nothing to dislike really, it was good and I enjoyed my stay. The only thing I would say is that visitors should be aware that although an evening meal can be had at The Glen it must be pre-ordered and is served at 18:30, so you wont have dining flexibility BUT having said that the communications from The Glen were perfectly clear and I was aware of the dining policies in advance of my stay, so it wasnt a problem.

We had an excellent stay at The Glen as usual. The room overlooked the back gardens and we had a nice view of trees and the garden. It was lovely to be able to relax in somewhere that is dog friendly. Dogs are allowed in the breakfast room, but our rescue dog isn’t ready for this so they kindly accommodated my husband and I having breakfast at separate times (and me changing my mind about my breakfast after my husband raved about the cooked breakfast). Really nice friendly hosts. We have stayed before and we will be back.

My husband would have liked a comfortable chair in the room. That was all really.
