Very happy with our stay at the Cross Keys. The room was very nice; looks to have been refurbished not too long back, and the bathroom was quite spacious. We were made to feel welcome (including the dog) and the bar/ dining room are cosy with a good atmosphere. We were fortunate that our stay coincided with a musical event one evening, which was really good. The breakfast/ food was all fine and small touches like miniature milk bottles in the room were appreciated.
Couldn't really fault anything. Those after a lively nightlife might want to look elsewhere as there's nothing else in the village, we personally see that as a plus though.

The trip exceeded our expectations in all aspects. From the greeting, at the door, when we arrived to the breakfast before we left. The staff are amazing, friendly and very welcoming. We were shown to our room and helped with our bags. The room was a good size, clean and cosy and the bed was very comfortable. When we went downstairs, the welcome was again there from staff and locals and we were invited to sit by the fire with our drink. The food was very good, not a massive menu but more than adequate and the quality was top notch. A truly exceptional place buried away in the Borders of Scotland.
Nothing, everything met or exceeded expectations

Cross Keys B&B provided us with a delightful weekend escape. Nestled in a charming, lovely country location, the B&B offers a traditional and welcoming atmosphere, complemented by exceptionally clean and comfortable bedrooms. The high standard of bedding and well-regulated warmth through the night ensured a restful stay. The B&B is perfectly situated for exploring the surrounding area, offering access to wonderful local walks and a short driving distance to stunning locations such as the Grey Mare's Tail and St. Mary's Loch. Furthermore, its proximity to the Borders and Scotland's farther reaches makes it an ideal base for further exploration. The staff and food perfectly matched the charm of this lovely Scottish retreat, leaving us with a desire to return.

This was a favorite stay on our trip. We stayed at many different places during our trip, but my kids liked this place the best. The staff was super friendly, the food was awesome, and the area was so quiet and quaint. There isn't a lot in the town, so if you are looking for shopping this may not be the place for you. We woke up and went for a long walk, the locals were very friendly and helped us find a good route. The inn was comfortable and clean. The restaurant was a surprise, we assumed basic pub food, which was not the case. It was fresh and delicious.

This was our first hotel in Scotland and it was definitely a great place to start our trip. Such a lovely little pub in a very cute village surrounded by nature and lovely views. The staff were friendly and attentive. We had dinner in the pub and it was one of the best meals we’ve had all trip, so definitely eat here if you can. Very reasonably priced too for the quality!

The Cross keys exceeded our expectations. The staff were welcoming and most helpful. The bed was comfortable and the linens and towels first class. We enjoyed the fish and chips, excellent fish in crispy batter and found the homemade tartare sauce the best ever. Superb breakfast cooked to order. Ample supply of milk for tea/coffee in bedroom.
Could not find anything to fault.

Breakfast was perfect. There was a choice of different things so suited our whole party. The staff were absolutely spot on - it instantly felt like our local rather than just a ‘country pub’. So friendly. The drinks bill was even allocated to the relevant room without having to ask! The room was quiet at night even though it was on the main roads through. Lovely oldy worldy feel to the whole place. Plenty of parking round the back. Felt safe (and we’ll looked after) the whole time we were there.
Ideally there would have been a bit more shelf space (easy remedied) in the bathroom as my wife and I didn’t have enough room for our toiletries. The pillows were a bit firm for my liking (although I can also apply this to some other hotels).

The Cross Keys is a lovely country Inn with “old fashioned service standards “ help in with luggage and taken to our room personally nothing too much trouble. Room was lovely very comfortable and clean and loads of tea/coffee (more in corridor if needed) and toiletries. Food and drinks in the lovely cosy bar area was very nice. Will most certainly be visiting again!

Location is great, property is good with fantastic staff who are so pleasant and helpful. A great place to stay in this lovely friendly pub. Breakfasts are amazing! We had 2 evening meals which were both good too.
Maybe, for us next time we would book a larger room for a 3 night stay. The room we stayed in was small but cosy and we didn’t not like it, just our personal preference.

Very friendly welcome, very nice and comfortable room.( was given a choice of two rooms!) Good food served by helpful staff at all levels.
We came by way of Moffat on a narrow road with dozens and dozens of motor cycles weaving in and out of traffic as part of some sort of event. On our return we went via Peebles and it was a slow run back to the central belt. Not something anyone, can do about the road infrastructure.
