Stayed at this hotel twice now, as I visit the area for work, Staff are very helpful, the food is lovely, and the hotel has so much character, will always stay here when possible.

We arrived extremely late at night, but were welcomed by the lady at Reception with a big smile, who immediately helped to take our things in. One room had been upgraded to an executive suite and the lucky colleague who got it was absolutely bowled over. However, the rest of us couldn't complain, since we all had very pleasant rooms with comfortable beds. The breakfast was filling, with plenty of variety. As for the location - it couldn't have been better, being set in beautiful surroundings. It was only a pity that we had to set off early in the morning and couldn't enjoy the hotel and its location more. This is a perfect place for keen walkers, cyclists and nature lovers.

Stunning venue for an overnight stay and not too expensive for the rooms and breakfast. Staff were welcoming and friendly throughout our stay. Excellent meal in the restaurant with no need to book on a Thursday evening but a nice ambience. Quiet, comfy and unusual rooms in this former mill owner's Scottish mansion and throughout our stay the residual feel of that was all around which gave a feeling of traditional, large country house hospitality. Breakfast was excellent and freshly cooked and served in a dining room beautiful inside and with excellent views of the grounds.

NOT A CRITICISM AT ALL. We were informed there was no lift to upper floors when booking and understand this given the age and internal structure of the hotel. There were clear offers from the staff of help with carrying luggage anywhere it was needed, but a great shame that this would restrict access for those with limited physical mobility.

Stunning hotel with great food and friendly staff. Room was enormous and we had a great stay. Cocktail bar was so cosy and the food at breakfast and evening was amazing. Very relaxing charming place.

Slightly outside the town of Galashiels. Car is essential. Breakfast times were slightly tight (stopping at 9am each day except Sunday). Food was excellent but more lighter healthier options would have been better to offer. Got lost trying to find initially as you have to go through a housing estate. No conditioner in bathroom and products in mini bottles. Would be better and more environmentally friendly to have larger products attached to the shower wall as there was nowhere inside our shower to place the products.

Our 2nd visit here & again we had a lovely welcome. The staff were friendly and polite. It’s an absolutely beautiful property with views across to the Eildons. Breakfast came out quickly and cooked to perfection.

I was really disappointed with our room this time & it was just not worth the money. It was a very small, dull looking room and although clean, it looked shabby. A mug had a large chip out the side that surely must have been noticed. The tv would only turn on by switching it off and on again at the plug and then every program became so pixelated it was unwatchable.

The staff couldn't do enough for us, they were an absolute credit to the hotel. So kind, asked about our evening and went above and beyond. We were at a concert in Edinburgh so got back very late, one of our party decided to miss breakfast and sleep more, the lady serving insisted we get something for her, offered so much and organised a bacon sandwich for us to take with us so she wouldn't go hungry. Such a sweet gesture. The breakfast was delicious, literally one of the best hotel breakfasts we've ever had (and there's been a few haha). Very much recommend the eggs florentine and the veggie breakfast!!! We are not one for repeat visits as we like exploring new places, but we are definitely going to organise a little trip back so we can stay again.

The only thing even worth mentioning is there was a patch of paint flaking in the bathroom. But for the price we paid, the beautiful building and the standard of service we received its not something that bothered us at all.

Loved the high ceilings and spacious rooms and the 'old world feel'. The hotel is comfortable, the bar was a lovely welcoming place. We liked the dinner menu, the friendly staff and the feeling that we were almost 'family'.

I loved that I could open the window in my room, but I was a little worried when I closed it with the stick, that I might break a window! I didnt like having to leave this morning, knowing that I may never get back to this side of the world (from Australla). My UK family will certainly return

The staff are a thoughful, kind and hardworking team. Smiles were very much the order of the day from everyone who worked there. Our room was very spacious and comfortable with a great view across the River Tweed to the hills beyond. The bathroom was well appointed and everything worked well. Overall the hotel is very spacious and inevitably has a few neglected corners. Breakfast was fine. Restaurant offered very good service and fairly priced modest evening menu. It’s not luxury but it is comfortable and friendly which suited us fine. We would definitely return if we were in the are again.

The family suite was beautiful and the house itself was gorgeous. Very large room with plenty of space for four to relax. The beds were very comfortable and the bathroom was spotless. Even the small things that are often overlooked, such as tissue boxes and extra tea/coffee were provided. The breakfast was lovely (veggie haggis was very tasty) and the staff were very helpful and cheery. Would definitely go back if we're ever up that way again.

I can't think of anything the hotel could improve on.

The dinner & breakfast were excellent. I had cod and it was prepared with a lovely sauce and fennel garnish. Breakfast was served in a lovely dining room and there was a nice selection of fruit on the buffet table along with cereal selections. Nice offerings from m the hot menu.

Our room was on the second floor (3rd floor to us Americans) and there was no elevator of course. Carrying our luggage up 2 very long sets of staircases was a bit of a challenge. We were ok but it could be an issue with a lot of guests. This once beautiful and elegant home is well worn in some areas. Sofas and dining chairs very worn and some even tattered. Restoration is the best description of what the manor needs. Some areas like the bar have had obvious restoration & it looks charming.
