The owner was very helpful. He contacted me by phone to confirm my arrival time and when I informed me that I was delayed due to my flight arriving late. He kept the accommodation available and made sure I could access the property at a late hour. The following days he provided me with excellent advice on where to eat and visit for the duration of my stay. I would repeat my booking.

The proprietors kindly allowed me to book in early as I was attending an afternoon function and as the property is very conveniently situated next to the bus station I didn't have to take my luggage with me to the function. Had my case carried up the stairs for me. Although conveniently close to the centre of Galashiels, with shops and eating facilities close by, it was an exceptionally quiet place to stay. No night disturbance whatsoever (Saturday and Sunday nights.) Nothing fancy about this property - just clean and cared for and everything you needed close at hand. Very happy customer.

There are a lot of stairs in the property, which needed to be negotiated to use the bathroom facilities, and while this was no problem to me whatsoever, it might not suit someone with mobility or breathing difficulties.

Very friendly and helpful owner; clean and comfortable room with nice hot shower; excellent location right beside transport hub (but not noisy) and convenient for town. Could leave luggage after checkout to collect later, allowing me to take a day exploring comfortably (I took bus to Abbotsford House). A great economical alternative to staying in Edinburgh (was going to football at Murrayfield!), with the train providing a good transport link in just 50 minutes.

Maybe somewhere in shower to rest spectacles and shower gel/shampoo? Otherwise no problems; breakfast isn't supplied but this was made clear from the start on booking and there are plenty of places nearby to get supplies or have a café breakfast.

The bedroom was very comfortable. It was fully equipped with tea, coffee etc. Extra pillows and blankets if you should need it. The en-suite was clean and spacious. It was located literally across the road from the train station which has good train times to Edinburgh.

There was only a three parking spaces outside. This didn’t seem a lot for the size of the property.

Superb location edge of town right next to the train station into the borders and onto Edinburgh. The owner kindly let us leave our vehicle on the carpark for free while we took the train into Edinburgh for the day .. perfect

Single beds a little small but I'm being really picky as everything else perfect .

Location super convenient for getting around all areas of the Scottish Borders and beyond, short train journey to Edinburgh. The host was very friendly, beds were comfortable and is priced well for what you get. Short walk to a variety of pubs, restaurants and other shops. Would stay again if I was in the area.

I recommend this guest house provided it doesn't matter to you that some rooms, possibly all, are not ensuite, and they currently don't do breakfast (I guess that might change). The room was clean and comfortable, including the bed. Little details were well attended to. That is, more than enough tea bags, coffee and milk sachets with the tea maid for my three nights, plus chocolate biscuits. The shared bathroom with another room was clean, and the shower was probably the simplest I've ever used! It was a friendly welcome, and the proprietor obligingly locked my bike in the former breakfast room, making it very secure. Location-wise, for me, it was perfect. Just a short walk to the town centre but more importantly, for me, it was immediately opposite the reopened Galashiels railway station and, likewise, reopened Borders rail line, Tweedmouth - Edinburgh. It is also just two doors from the bus station. It was a pity they no longer do breakfast, but I respect their probable reason for it and it wasn't an issue (I used the Wetherspoon). The property is for sale so I infer the proprietors are winding down to retire. If new proprietors continue it, I guess it's possible they will reinstate breakfast. As things stand, however, I recommend it provided you are comfortable with the two points.

My mattress felt a bit tired, could feel the spring's a little too much.

Friendly staff, clean room, comfortable beds, relaxed atmosphere and excellent location. Very good value for money. We really enjoyed our 3 night stay here and would recommend this Guest House to anyone visiting Galashiels.

We were a bit disappointed that clean cups were'nt provided daily.

Stayed for 1 night at the beginning of walking St Cuthbert's Way. As advertised. Simple, comfortable warm room next to railway station, short walk from town. Quiet at night. I slept well. Tea/coffee facilities. TV. I ate at an Italian restaurant in town which was delicious.
