This was a very old building with lots of history and they had the history through out the building for you to read and see pictures which is a great idea although the building is very old it has been modernist over the years and looks lovely although there is a lot more work needing done on the building inside and out. We went as a family with our dogs, and they were welcomed in most of the staff were amazing especially the restaurant manager Colin, he always went out his way to make sure you were accommodated, and when there was any issues he quickly resolved them, our first evening there and the food was amazing there was an area for us to have our meal out the way with the dogs, a bar area there so was really good our 2nd and 3rd day, there was only the no cocktail bar available for us with dogs, which was very small and having an elderly dog who lines there own space wasn’t the best place for her, the food on both these nights was not what we had the first night, the curry was not a curry, was edible but couldn’t actually say what it was, it was more like a microwave meal without flavour and wasn’t pleasant to look at one of our party had the chicken burger but wasn’t cooked properly, the restaurant manager Colin couldn’t have been nicer about this, the other staff in the no cocktail bar didn’t have a clue and one in particular was very abrupt after speaking to the manager, the first night in the no cocktail bar one of our party burnt there hand on a very hot plate the server didn’t say it was very hot and they didn’t have a clue how to deal with the issue of a burnt hand, just handed a glass of ice cubes and told don’t no what else to do.
There wasn’t much to not like about this property, the toilet roll could be doing with better quality and like I say above the no cocktail bar staff could be doing with retraining, one really disappointing thing was that I would expect a hotel like this to source locally, but the black pudding for instance was sourced from Dundee, the honey was from Essex, these are just examples, they had there own bee hive and gardens where they grew, with ducks etc and there is plenty local businesses they could source more locally than they are

The staff were exceptional very friendly and genuine .Facilities very good .Lovely atmosphere.Breakfast had everything you could need (you definitely won't need lunch) Bar had a lovely relaxing feel with excellent Friday a reasonable price .The pool and leisure facilities are top notch and the right temperature , my husband liked how they cater to mountain bikers and ease of access to Glentress it is also in a good location for pebbles town centre 5 to 10 minutes stroll .Family friendly hotel and as it was on the run up to Christmas lots of things for kids to do like find the elves hidden round the hotel .Would definitely come back.
Hot water took a long time to come through the tap .

The location and general ambience of the hotel is what makes it popular. Staff are always very courteous and happy to assist. Our double bedroom, whilst located at the back of the property with limited views, was clean, fresh and appeared to have been refurbished with a modern bathroom. Good choice of hot and cold food at breakfast; perfect for kick-starting your day.
There is little doubt some of the external paintwork is showing signs of age as well as around the pool area but it doesn’t detract from a very enjoyable stay.

The Room was very spacious with a lovely view. Good selection of breakfast foods too. The restaurants onsite had a good selection of different foods so we were able to experience different thigs during our stay. The pool & gym facilities were good. The surrounding area was perfect for a walk or bike ride. Overall we did enjoy our stay
During our stay there were 2 wedding parties which I found hindered our ability to enjoy certain areas of the hotel. Due to where the bar was situated for the weddings, I would have enjoyed being able to sit in the lounge and read but wasn't able to do this for too long.

The hotel was really nice, very spacious when walking around, the grounds were very picturesque. Our view of the hills was amazing. Great Leusure Club, and Spa facility too. Had a lovely DT Massage befire we left. Nice dining and bar areas. Loved the fact the hallways were adorned with old pics and history of the hotel. It was very interesting to see. Also the location was brilliant a literal 5-10 minutes walk into town.
Not a complaint or negative comment, and it wasn't the hotels fault. We wanted to go out on the 4 wheeled EZ Riders (a 4 wheeled off road Segway), but the route was getting work done so couldn't go. It couldn't be helped, but was just disappointing.

Lovely rooms. The food was very good quality and delicious. Plenty of activities available. All the staff were friendly and professional. Nothing was too much trouble, very good staff throughout.
The first room we were put in had adjoining doors to the next room. We asked said to the receptionist and she moved us to another room, which was perfect. Very helpful. Perhaps mention on the website rooms that have interconnecting doors. So that customers can decide whether to choose these type of rooms at the booking stage.

The hotel is very well run and the staff are friendly and efficient. The pool and leisure facility was great fun for all the family.
We unfortunately had 5 bikes stolen from our van in the car park. If we had known we would have used the secure bike store but we were not aware of this until it was too late. This ruined our experience which was a shame as the hotel, food, staff and facilities were excellent. We only hope the hotel does more to make guests aware thieves operate in this area.

Used the pool every day. Did the axe throwing and walked the grounds. Enjoyed all of it. Remember to book activities day before as doing day of can be quite difficult. Breakfast was the same every day but it was also good. Usually not a fan of mushrooms but they were great. Rooms where clean, staff was friendly, really enjoyed the stay.
Ended up in a bunk bed which I was a little too tall for. I would have liked to book some of the activities day of and had trouble trying to do it on lines so we missed some opportunities.

The hotel has an impressive list of activities to suit everyone's interests, and you have the lovely town of Peebles to explore within a short walking distance. I loved seeing the history of the building in photo frames across different parts of the hotel. Staff were friendly and polite when greeting us for an evening meal and breakfast in the dining area. At breakfast time, there was an amazing selection of food.
I am very interior design-focused, and some of the areas of the hotel were a little dated and needed more of a design refresh. Some parts of the hotel could have been better lit. The lack of light in parts made it feel like the area was closed off or not part of the hotel.

June 2024
We were attending a wedding at the famous Rosslyn Chapel in June 2024 and due to a mix up we had booked our original hotel for wrong dates and could not rebook due to the Taylor Swift concert demand . Fortunately we found The Peebles hotel available for the correct dates. When we arrived we were delighted with its location and view and our room looked out of the front of the hotel across the grounds towards the hills . Plenty of parking in the front of the hotel. The reception staff were very welcoming and helpful getting our luggage to our room on 2nd floor. An afternoon lunch in the bar area proved very good with prompt friendly service and breakfast on both days was very superbly managed by the staff despite the large volume of people (Swifties) going through the restaurant. We slepted comfortably in the bed which is always a blessing. We noted that the hotel ran lots of activities for families , there was also a big wedding on at the hotel on the same Saturday as we went off to ours but even when we arrived back late Saturday night there was no disruption from noise. There was also spa facilities but sadly time commitments did not allow us to take advantage of them. On the day we left I found I had somehow mislaid my wedding hat and mentioned it to the receptionist who took my details. She rang me some time later to say it had been found and would arrange to get it back to me which she did so .10/10 goes to her for being so efficient in dealing with the matter. Overall this is a big hotel , but it is very well run by friendly welcoming staff and is looked after which is in my books very important. It has a lovely feel to it of its days gone by we would certainly stay there again if we are in the area .
We didn't realise that there is a lift service which is located in a seperate entrance door to the left on the main ground floor level entrance to take your luggage up to the reception area. So we ended up carrying our luggage up the grand staircase to reception. Would be handy to have known that in advance.
