Spacious rooms, dining experiences, large bed in our room, spacious bathroom, quiet, the historical finishes in the building combined with conventional improvements, and convenient parking. The grounds are well kept. The atmosphere is peaceful. The dinner staff remembered our preferences from night to night.

The bar wasn't stocked with all of the items on the menu. We were informed that there were no bottles of preferred beer and only 1 bottle of cider. We had to buy our own from the local shops and drink in our room, or pay a £35 corkage per bottle, rather than be able to purchase our drinks at the venue and enjoy the atmosphere. The owner assured us after the fact that they did have our drinks however the front of staff did not know this and they were not stocked in the bar areas. Small thing that would have made a difference to our enjoyment of our stay if the front staff talked to the back of house staff.

Cringletie House was beautiful and my mum had the best stay there for her 60th birthday. The grounds were lovely and perfect for exploring with our dog. The room was spacious and inviting with little perks such as whisky and short bread biscuits and even some treats for the dog. The breakfast offered good portion sizes and variety of items and we adored our 5 course meal on her birthday. The staff were welcoming and accommodating to all our needs. Could not have asked for a better birthday celebrations! Thank you!

Sometimes it was difficult to locate staff as we were not aware you could ring a service bell. Some of the decorative cushion covers were a little musty.

The whole hotel had a warm feeling and not austere like other class hotels in Scotland. Checking in with the receptionist was easy and straightforward and a wam welcome. Room was warm and all the facilities you could wish for. We had a meal in the restaurant both evenings. The Monday was a 5 course meal and splendid. What a wonderful touch; to meet the owner, Bill Cross who was very approachable. Tuesday evening we had the room service meal served in the restaurant. Again this meal was also exceptional thanks to the talented head chef. Breakfast were also wonderful and relaxed with everything you could with for. I know it's been a tough start from 2019 but this hotel definitely needs patronising. We will be back.

I think our room/bathroom decor could do with some TLC

It is a fabulous old hotel that has a warm and welcoming interior and beautiful grounds. There were snowdrops everywhere! The staff are all very friendly and caring. We had booked the suite and it was amazing. The food is superb. Dinner is a tasting menu of 7 courses every night and each course was delicious and beautifully presented. The waiters with their white gloves were a lovely touch too! The hotel is very close to Peebles and there are plenty lovely walks in the area. The Tapestry of Scotland is a short drive away in Galashiels and well worth a visit.

Nothing. We will return again for sure.

Excellent location, very friendly and attentive staff. Add to that the little extras such as personalised welcome card and complementary whisky in our room, free use of putting, croquet and outdoor chess. Stunning setting and trail around the grounds. Food exquisite. We have stayed here before and will do so again - our favourite "get away from it all" spot.

Everything was just perfect.

Cringletie is a luxurious location set in the Scottish Borders a few miles from Peebles. A first class example of Scottish hospitality the property is located in a tranquil setting where you can enjoy all the best of attention ensuring a fantastic stay. The suite we stayed in 'Melrose' was spacious and immaculate with very comfortable bedding. Complimentary tea, coffee and whisky was available in the room which was serviced daily to a high standard. The restaurant provided outstanding food cooked and presented to a very high standard with local produce and served by attentative, friendly staff . I have been fortunate to have visited Cringletie before ,the standard continues to be outstanding.

I found Cringletie to exceed my expectations and had no issues the staff made my stay completely enjoyable.

The property is absolutely stunning. Breakfast was wonderful.

The room was only adequate. The shower had a handheld that kept flopping down and spayed all over. And the drain kept plugging. Needless to say I had to clean up the mess. The dinner is definitely not worth the price. Again, only adequate. One dessert was a very dry (old) 1x1” square with less than a teaspoon of sorbet on it. Very pricy for this property. You’re paying for the ambience. Not the quality.

I liked the car park. I like touring holidays and it suited my Porsche GT3. The hotel was awesome. The staff were excellent particularly for our tasting menu dinner. Food was great (we had lunch and breakfast too). We enjoyed one of the walks around the grounds and it was a lovely and relaxing place to visit.

Our room only offered a shower over bath and they seem to always flood the place! I prefer a dedicated shower, but it is an old building so this can be tolerated of course.

From the minute you drive up the long drive to the house which is all lit up you feel welcome. The staff (Victoria) were at the door to meet us with a warm welcome and show you to your room and explain about the hotel and the restaurant. The room is a classic old style room but with modern creature comforts and well laid out. Lots of nice touches left in the room for you and we had ordered wine to be delivered to the room and it was waiting there for us. Now the food was nothing short of first class and the restaurant is well laid out and the staff (Barry) were so attentive and explained everything and even had time for some friendly chat between courses. The menu apparently changes daily and you can pick individual courses or go for all seven courses. We went for 5 each and everything was perfect. The breakfast the following morning was brilliant and that was followed with a walk round the grounds which looked amazing due to the fresh snow everywhere. The hotel obviously prides themselves on customer service and while you do pay for that high level of service, it is worth treating yourselves every so often. So yes we would recommend the Craigletie house. Thank you.

I am sure the hotel will address but just some of the paint peeling off on the bathroom ceiling made it look a bit drab . However that didn't spoil the overall experience.

We loved the beauty of the house, surrounded by nature, the quality of the breakfast, and availability of the staff. The beds were great too!!

Being picky but, as always in the UK, the room is not entirely dark and the soundproofing of the door/walls is not the best (especially when you have the lift in front of your door). Otherwise all great!
