Arriving at the carpark at the rear of the Inn during heavy rain at lunchtime, a staff member serving in the conservatory, saw us taking the luggage from the boot and immediately opened a rear door and said come in here. What a great start to a wonderful stay, as ALL the staff were absolutely wonderful, warm, kind and so very helpful during our 4 night stay. We stayed in a lovely four poster room, Rm2, which was very tastefully decorated in keeping with the age of the Inn, yet the bathroom was modern and very clean, yet was decorated to blend in seamlessly. Great bars and dining, from tasty bar food, to ample breakfast offerings, all freshly made. Great bus link, just steps away from the front door, taking an hour to get to Princess Street, so the Inn offered peaceful location, with ample parking yet easy access to the centre of Edinburgh. Note if you want a quicker route in or out of Edinburgh, then an Uber will cost around £20. All in all a fantastic place to stay. As an aside, but which was noticed during my four nights, some unusual activity occurred in the room which couldn't be explained. I was awakened during my first night by the sound of the floor boards creaking, in the darkened room, as though someone was slowly moving around the bed watching us. The hair on the back of my neck was literally raised like never before with an intense feeling that someone was standing next to me, but I saw nobody. The next 2 days we returned to the room with our bag, which was stored under the front facing window, lying toppled over into the room. The final morning, the bathroom sash window, which had been left a quarter open due to the warm nights and showering, was found to have been physically closed and was open when we had gone to bed.

Nothing really could improve my stay... apart from the bar being able to make a Mojito ;)

A lovely stay, really enjoyed the inn atmosphere, the decoration, so authentic and original. A very good option to stay near Edinburgh without breaking the bank, as the Inn is well connected by Lothian buses with Edinburgh city centre (I recommend getting return tickets on the bus). The food was delicious, both evening meals in the pub area and the home-cooked breakfasts we were served in the mornings. All the folk working there were so incredibly helpful, one hundred per cent of the time, I really enjoyed our stay there and look forward to coming back one day - though perhaps outside of the July/August slot due to overcrowding in Edinburgh city centre. There was street parking right in front of the Inn, and our motorcycle was perfectly safe there for the three days.

Excellent to have a room with a BATH (which are hard to find these days). Reasonably priced compared with the extortionate prices in Edinburgh. Fruit at breakfast and very generous well-cooked hot options. Comfortable mattress and nice soap. Welcoming staff, who upgraded us to a room with more space. Effective heating. Well decorated dining room. We liked the location outside the city but with a reliable bus service.

Very small basin and the positioning of a shelf above it, made it hard to wash face. Pillows rather solid. Dark colours in room a bit gloomy.

Breakfast cooked to order, we tried various items and all were delicious, plus very friendly staff also in the restaurant and reception. Room decorated very tastefully.

We liked the location. Right near bus stop giving easy access into Edinburgh and within walking distance of famous Rosslyn Chapel. Quaint and quirky areas of the pub. Several bars. Large room. Very helpful and friendly manager.

Shower practically unusable in bath as too high! Shelf over sink coming away from wall. Very difficult to wash your face in sink because of the shelf. Nobody on reception to check us out. When I eventually found the lady (who was making coffees for others), she told me to leave key card in the bar. This is just a courtesy really to be able to see guests out. Breakfast on Saturday morning seemed to be lacking a few bits from other days - / jam, fresh fruit salad, yoghurt, teaspoons on cups.

Like stepping back in history and seeping in the whispers of guests passed. What an experience, what a stay! Loved the ambience and unique characteristic of the Original Rosslyn Inn.. Rooms are named after famous poets. We had no. 5 , Walter Scott. Dinner was exceptional and breakfast a treat. No need to drive into town . We parked our car at the hotel and caught the bus no 37 directly to and from the city. A short 5 minute walk takes you to the Rosslyn Chapel where scenes from the movie "Thev Da Vinci Code" staring Tom Hanks were filmed. History, attentive service, good food, a hot bath or shower and a super compfy bed. What more could one ask for?

A beautiful and spotlessly clean inn with masses of character, friendly and helpful staff, the personal touch, nothing was too much trouble, food was excellent - I particularly recommend the full breakfast!!! Restaurant served a good choice of food and was very tasty. If you like character and the personal touch in a gorgeous and peaceful location located close to Roslin chapel, then this for you.

Quiet location with parking, Clean recently decorated room, Easy drive from Edinburgh and to surrounding areas. Scenic walk to the chapel/castle nearby. Breakfast was the best we had on our trip cooked fresh and plentiful. Our overall stay was pleasant.

Previous accidental wall damage from previous guests. Dinner in the evening wasn't the best. Too much emphasis on fancy presentations which missed the mark and cutting the steak up for the diner isn't necessary. In my experience it is best to keep it simple and put out an honest clean plate of food.

Location is stunning. Just a short walk from the amazing Rosslyn chapel. The hotel is homely and the staff are friendly and keen to assist with any requests. The hotel restaurant has a lovely atmosphere and the food is enjoyable. The bar is welcoming and usually full of local customers.

Anything I was slightly concerned about on arrival melted away during the course of my stay.
