It was a warm welcome, and we absolutely loved the house, we had a fabulous, well lit room. Best night sleep I could have had away from my bed! Very yummy continental breakfast. Bus stops straight outside to go to the centre of town, nighttime buses too!

There was nothing at all wrong with out stay! 100% recommend.

Very comfortable bed and mattress, super comfortable quilts. Friendly hosts, quick to respond to my questions about shower. Spacious room. Clean and nice bathroom. Cosy and warm interior design. Beautiful garden design at the front door. Safe neighbourhood, convenient public transport to city centre.

The shower faucet switch was so stiff that I thought the shower was broken. But a hotel staff was quick to help me find out the cause and promised to fix it. I only stayed for two days and had no time to wait for the fixing, but the shower can be used properly after the checking by the staff.

We stayed at Alba Hotel for three nights and from the very first moment, we felt completely at home. We were welcomed by a lovely woman named Cath. Absolutely wonderful, warm, and caring, like a sweet grandmother who just wants to make sure you’re well looked after. During check-in, she took a map of the city and carefully showed us all the places in Edinburgh that are worth visiting. Thanks to her, we immediately felt confident exploring the city and knew exactly where to go. The hotel itself is beautiful, located in a charming, character-filled house. Our room was very clean and comfortable, with skylight windows that filled the space with natural light and allowed us to get fresh air whenever we wanted. There was also a kettle in the room with tea, cookies, glasses, and spoons, so we could make ourselves a cup of tea whenever we wanted. It was such a cozy touch that really made me feel at home. I think it was a big convenience and added to the overall comfort of our stay. The location is extremely convenient: just a 10-minute bus ride to Edinburgh’s city centre, with the bus stop literally right in front of the hotel, and a shopping centre within walking distance. Our stay at Alba Hotel was truly pleasant and comfortable. This place has a soul, and thanks to Cath's wonderful hospitality, we felt genuinely cared for. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful, cozy hotel with a warm, homely atmosphere.

If I had to mention one small thing I didn’t love, it would be the bedding – I would have preferred something softer. To be fair, this isn’t a major downside, because I’ve noticed that many hotels tend to have this type of slightly rougher bedding. Personally, I’m used to sleeping under flannel at home, which is incredibly soft to the touch, so that’s probably just my own preference rather than a fault of the hotel.

Beautiful and clean hotel (used to be a B&B but they no longer offer breakfast) with updated facilities! We appreciated the updated bathroom appliances, excellent shower with plenty of hot water (not a given in Scotland), and comfortable layout of the room. The sitting area by the window was perfect for enjoying a cup of tea -- they also refreshed our tea/biscuit supply each day which we really appreciated! The location is a couple miles from the city centre, but everything is easily accessible by bus. The hotel is quiet and the hosts are very communicative if you need anything. We would stay here again!

Exquisite home beautifully decorated & comfortable So lovely to come home to. Cath is a gem. Nothing is too much trouble. You just need to ask We loved our little room at the top of the stairs with a view out over the surrounds & windows you could open. The position is perfect with the bus so handy or even a hire car to enter & exit the city

We had been warned by Cath that the room was at the top of the stairs & mistakenly looked at the stairs in the pictures. There was a killer spiral staircase above there. Difficult with luggage but we were helped by 2 lovely girls going up & Cath & her husband coming down. And we still loved that we had this cute attic room

The accommodation is spectacular! The location is great, it’s in a quiet residential area, and it takes around 15 mins to get to the downtown by bus, so it’s perfect. The neighborhood is so lovely, and there is a shopping mall and a few restaurants nearby too. The owner of the place is the sweetest person ever! She has given us recommendations and tips on where to go and what to do, and she’s been extremely friendly and helpful during all our stay. We felt so welcome! Thank you! The room was cozy and spacious, all those small details were great, and it had everything we needed. I would sincerely recommend this place to stay in Edinburgh!

The house and property are beautiful, with lots of local charm, and a seamless blend of vintage and modern. We arrived at 9 AM to drop our bags, and our room was ready! A very pleasant surprise. Our room was very pretty with gorgeous custom drapery, wallpaper, and quality linens. The bathroom was modern, with a strong, hot shower. The woman who greeted us in the foyer was very friendly and helpful. She gave us lots of information about the house, the bus line, and restaurants. The bus stop was literally across the street, and it just took a few minutes to get into town, where all the attractions were. It made our stay easy to navigate.

The only thing I can think of is that, when we booked this property it said it had a breakfast, and the pictures looked very good. And when we got there they said they no longer were doing breakfast. So we only went in and out of our room. If there were any other rooms in the house to see, we missed it.

Beautiful, large, immaculate room with comfortable king size bed. Bathroom looked newly remodeled, and was very functional and well maintained. Close to transportation. Bus stop was on the same block as inn. 15 minutes to town on the bus. Owner was very nice. Would highly recommend the Alba House if you are ok with using the bus system to get to and from the downtown area of Edinburgh.

Everything was great. Would be nice if they served breakfast, but that was not a deal breaker for us. There was a mall within a 5-10 min walk that had food choices.

The property was excellently located. Close to amenities. The room itself was clean and very comfortable. Very easy to come and go and had such a wonderful host!!

I mean this couldn’t be helped and I know it’s almost an abnormality for Scotland to have beautiful weather but we were situated in a room at the top of the building and as the temperature was very warm in general the room was prone to heating up and being stuffy although the windows were left open and a fan was provided it didn’t do much good. However this was very minor but worth mentioning.

The location was ideal for accessing the main city core (Royal Mile) by short bus ride yet convenient enough for leaving the City by car. The host was very nice, personable and a great help for instructing us on how to use the local bus system to get through the City.

The bedding only had a duvet (no separate sheet) and I was not use to this, therefore I found sleeping a bit uncomfortable.
