My fiancé and i stayed there for our wedding which was held at the Edinburgh Castle. The Gate House was absolutely perfect for our evening and preparations for our wedding. The atmosphere and location are fantastic and perfect for what we had in mind. The dinner on New Year’s eve was a capstone to our wedding day and could not have been better. The staff were so welcoming and really went above and beyond to assure that our wedding was special. I cant thank them enough for how comfortable they made us feel!

truly enjoyed my stay at The Scott. The property is beautifully designed in an elegant Scottish style that makes you feel like you’re staying in a small castle — a perfect blend of charm and understated luxury. The staff were exceptionally polite and attentive, always ready to help with any questions or requests. Although the room was not very large, it was thoughtfully furnished, cozy, and had everything we needed. I particularly appreciated the small touches — like the daily treats, cookies, and coffee provided in the room. These little details made the whole experience feel extra special and warm. I would also like to highlight the breakfast — the atmosphere was simply wonderful. The dining room was stunning, the service excellent, and the food both delicious and beautifully presented. There was a nice selection to choose from, and it truly felt like a luxurious start to the day — the perfect way to begin exploring Edinburgh.

The hotel is in a tastefully restored 18th century baronial house. The bedroom and en-suite although a bit on the small side were well equipped with modern amenities and the bed comfortable. The neighbourhood is quiet and well served by buses to the city centre. The breakfast, using Scottish produce, was promptly served in the original lavishly decorated dining room .

There were some IT issues. At check-in the temperamental card machine generated duplicate £0.01 'pending' transactions in addition to the full payment amount. At check-out the itemised invoice had a different address to mine. There is no lift. Alternative dining options nearby are limited although there are frequent buses in to the city centre.

A well presented clean property. The room was very nice and comfortable. Reception staff very attentive, courteous and friendly.

Lack of parking, room lighting was either really bright or under lit, a full size ironing board would be nice. Breakfast service was very slow, took a long time to cook although tasted good. I would avoid the Scholar restaurant nearby, very slow service, some food over cooked and some under cooked. Staff quite snooty and give off the vibe that they don't want to be there. Should probably be a cafe rather than a "Bistro". Over priced.

The location was perfect, a 20 minute walk from the city centre. The hotel itself, it's decor and ambience are all beautiful. We had our dog with us and it was great for him as he had leafy grounds to run around in. The doggy package was a welcome treat and very well presented and equipped. We asked to move rooms due to the kitchen fan noise and they were able to accommodate us without hesitation to a ground floor room which was perfect. The breakfast was really good too. We couldn't fault any of it from the stylish crockery, pressed linen covered tables to the quality of the food. The staff were very friendly and the service was first class.

Comfortable 3 night stay at The Scott. The entire team was focused on their guests comfort and well being from the welcome, to assisting in carrying your luggage up to the higher floors, excellent breakfast to The Scott lounge for freshly brewed coffee and tea to homemade shortbread cookies. Our room was spacious, quiet including a comfortable king size bed. We were provided with robes, waffle cloth slippers and excellent bath products. I forgot to mention we had a coffee machine in our room, high end teas and biscuits. Great parking too.

We visited the Scott for one night before starting the north coast 500 route. On arrival, we were offered a glass of whiskey whilst waiting to be checked in. We were shown to our room which was lovely. In our room was a bottle of sparkling wine and some dark chocolate for our honeymoon! Beautifully decorated room but also dog friendly! Dog bowls, bed, treats, poo bags and ball in the room! Lovely comfortable bed. We chose to eat at the Scholar that evening (just next door) and were able to leave our dog in the room to rest. A lovely nights sleep. We then walked up Arthurs seat in the morning (as the hotel is incredibly close!) with our dog and then returned to the hotel for breakfast which was lovely. Thank you for a great stay!

The hotel is a lovely old building with great interiors set in the grounds of Edinburgh University There is ample parking so no need to book The staff were really lovely and helpful. Breakfast was great and complementary tea and coffee throughout the day was available . The rooms were comfy and really clean

It mentions that electric car chargers are available on site. If you had a Tesla then there was one charger , but for the other chargers you had to have a pre paid card that is posted to your home address prior to arrival. So we couldn't charge our car which is worth knowing if you expect to recharge at the hotel so I though was worth pointing out

Very lovely hotel! I loved that they had vegan options at breakfast. There was avocado toast, coconut yogurt, and croissants, but you can also “veganize” the vegetarian dish (the veggie sausages were vegan, for instance). We also loved going to the cozy bar later in the day.

Could sometimes hear people in the rooms upstairs and across the hall. My fiancé slept through it, but I’m more of a light sleeper :) I then wore earplugs which helped.

A beautiful hotel, incredible original decor mixed with modern timrous beastie fabrics. The bed was incredibly comfortable and the bed linen truly luxurious. A lovely part of the city and only moments away from Arthur's seat.

There were a few minor flaws, the wardrobe was too short to take out coats, there was no mirror near a socket for doing hair or make up, the coffee machine wasn't working and there was maybe just a tad too much clutter on the dressing table. More inconvenient than disappointing. I made mention of these things to the reception staff, who did take note.
