excellent location, with close proximity to Arthur’s seat and the beautiful hills and fields beneath, which made for a stunning evening walk and all less than a 10 min stroll back to the hotel. The room was clean, comfortable and well-equipped with complimentary soaps and shampoos etc. Bed linen of good quality and the bed itself extremely comfortable and meant I had a really good nights sleep. Staff extremely friendly and professional and the service is efficient and fuss-free. Good variety of choice in the continental breakfast ~ a cooked breakfast would have been nice and I would have been prepared to pay extra for this option. The free car park attached is such an added bonus and something I have not encountered in Edinburgh before. I’ve already booked to return later in the year and am very much looking forward to it.

We liked the location, on a side street so it was quiet at night. We also liked that you could walk into the centre of Edinburgh in about 30-45 minutes but regular buses run past the end of the road which are reasonably priced. We had continental breakfast and there was plenty of choice. The room was large with 2 single beds, wardrobe, 2 chairs and a small table plus a fridge and tea/coffee making facilities. There was also some alcoholic drinks in the room which you could pay for. Toiletries were provided and plentiful.

The window in the bathroom was fixed open about 8cm, fortunately it wasn’t cold whilst we were there! Also, the shower was over the bath and it wasn’t fixed in place and kept sliding down to the lowest point, which is okay for people who are not very tall.

We chose the Salisbury Hotel for our first weekend in Edinburgh and we were very pleased. The staff were extremely helpful and welcoming. Our room was spacious, very comfortable, and had everything we needed, including a king-size bed that was great to sleep on. Breakfast was excellent and offered a wide variety to suit all tastes. The room was cleaned and tidied every day. Lastly, the area is very quiet and well connected, with many bus lines to reach the city centre in just a few minutes – or it’s a lovely walk if you prefer going on foot. We would definitely come back!

I didn't expect too much. I was hoping for a nice clean hotel but it was that and more. The rooms were spotless and big. The staff really welcoming and helpful. We arrived earlier than check in so they took our bags and the same on checkout. Our flight was later in the evening so they took care of our bags while we had some time in the city. We had a lovely continental breakfast each morning which was included in the price and everything was fresh and really tasty with a really good selection of food. Plenty of buses near by for easy access around the city. Would definitely recommend for a comfortable convenient stay in Edinburgh

We had 2 single beds pushed together which i know is the norm but one bed was higher than the other so a little uncomfortable at times.

Beautifully presented. Incredibly comfortable bed. Lovely breakfast and such incredibly friendly staff who could not do enough to help. We have felt so lucky to have found this gem. Quiet location - even with windows open a peaceful night’s sleep. The lovely Italian receptionist was a delight - so sweet and helpful. Easy to get to, one mins walk from bus stop.

There was nothing we did not like. It was lovely. Although be aware there are no lifts.

The room was lovely, the bathroom great with a big bath and great big massive walk in shower (You could of held a disco in it). the bed was very comfy and so where the pillows. the bus into town is just around the corner with lots of busses one after another.

when unpacking i opened the drawer next to my bed and found a sex toy and a large tube of lube obviously left by a previous guest. Now we can laugh about it ... but REALY. (Staff need to check the room ). The bar and restaurant was closed for refurb so a let down there. The continental breakfast was made up of cheap store bought options not good quality at all.

The Scottish guy on Reception was excellent - professional but welcoming and friendly. The continental breakfast (included in the room rate in my case) was very good in terms of service, choice and quantity. We had a "small double room" which was fine as we didn't spend much time in the room - Shower was good. Location was excellent too - we walked into central Edinburgh which was a c.25 minute walk as the whole weekend was dry, although plenty of buses will take you straight into town, with an excellent Indian restaurant (recommend the Voujon) as well as a few Italians and others all within a few minutes walk of the hotel. Overall an excellent choice for visiting Edinburgh.

Nice building, great location only 30 mins walk into city centre. Staff were incredibly helpful, able to leave luggage and pick up before our train time. Room had everything you needed (fridge, hairdryer, nice towels) including toiletries and spare toothbrushes etc.

Only a few issues but they wouldn’t prevent us from staying again in the future: - the beds didn’t match, twin room with 2 different sized beds which was odd - the towel rail was on constantly making a small en-suite very hot - windows were sealed shut so no opportunity for fresh air in the room - no cooked breakfast which we didn’t expect (I must’ve missed that on the description) however great choice of continental breakfast and toasted bagels/toast available.

The room was spacious and tastefully decorated, with a wide and comfortable bed. Everything was impeccably clean, and we appreciated the complimentary cookies and tea/coffee. The breakfast was of good quality, offering a nice variety of fresh fruits, ham, cheese, croissants... On our last day, since we had an early departure, the hotel provided us with a take-away breakfast. The hotel is conveniently located near bus stations, offering great connections to the city and the main train station, although it’s about a 20-minute easy walk to the city center. 2 golf clubs are also within walking distance, making it an ideal location for both city exploration and golfing. Overall, a fantastic experience!

There’s so much that went right with this stay that it’s hard to list it all. Out of all the places I’ve visited, this one far exceeded my expectations. I knew it would be nice based on the photos and reviews, but experiencing it firsthand was on another level. From the warm, professional welcome at check-in to the seamless departure, every detail was spot on. The staff were outstanding—friendly, attentive, and genuinely invested in making the stay enjoyable. Breakfast was first-class, setting the perfect tone for the day, and the added bonus of off-street parking—an absolute luxury in Edinburgh—made everything even better. Without hesitation, I’ll be rebooking next time I’m in the city.
