The staff were incredibly amazing. I always felt like my needs were taken care of. Also, the breakfast was delicious, and the property is incredibly close to public transportation. I also liked that it’s very quiet.

It was very hot in Edinburgh when I stayed there. My room was on the third floor, and the temperature in the room exceeded 30°C for several days. It was quite unbearable to return to the room on those days.

From the moment we walked into the front door and were greeted by Kevin (he and Susan are the owners), we felt comfortable. We have been traveling extensively for years in Europe and now we are spending 35 days in the UK. He carried all of our luggage to our room because of my recent hip replacement. This has to be one of the most charming places we’ve ever stayed in. The breakfast was amazing. They had items you could serve yourself and also order from the menu with a large selection. They were very helpful with directions. We also never had a problem with the street parking. The location was great. About a 5 minute walk to the bus stop or if you prefer, about 15 to 20 minute walk to city center. We would recommend this charming hotel to anyone especially our family and friends.

An excellent hotel. The staff were friendly and funny, yet very professional. The location was great - a short and easy bus ride into central Edinburgh and very near to Arthur’s Seat. All facilities you could possibly need on holiday were covered, including a laundry service and take-away breakfast for early morning starts if needed. The breakfasts were delicious - both cooked and continental- and were served very promptly. It was very quiet and we slept well. We were very impressed with Hotel Ceilidh-Donia and would definitely stay there again if we returned to Edinburgh.

The room was spotless, the bed comfy and the bathroom has a small window. Toiletries are of good quality. Tea, coffee and biscuits are available in the room. The hotel is placed in a quiet area, well connected to the city centre with a bus stop just round the corner. The hotel is a family owned business and the hosts are really kind, welcoming and made me feel at home. Since I had to leave early in the morning to catch my flight home, a taxi was called for me and I was given a breakfast box with biscuits, a deliciois croissant, marmelade, orange juice and a banana. Highly ecommended.

The breakfast was staggeringly good. Cooked fresh to order, with high quality ingredients. The home made banana cake is awesome. Small dining room means it is not overcrowded and a pleasant place to eat food. Lovely little bar which is great for a nightcap and you will find friendly other guests who are good company. Buses are frequent - it is pretty much turn up and travel to the town centre. Perfect location for Arthur's Seat. The neighbour hood is lovely and the local - The Salisbury's Arms - is a great pub. Kevin is a great host - he makes you feel very welcome, gives great advice and is everything a B & B host should be. The whole team are great and you are made to feel like family.

This hotel is such a gem! Quiet, safe, and cosy, located away from the hustle and bustle of the festival but well served by buses and Ubers. The bed was like sleeping on a cloud, the hosts were super welcoming and friendly, and the breakfasts were all divine - I stayed four nights and enjoyed a different cooked breakfast every day, along with the fantastic buffet options. Also, amazing selection of teas in the breakfast room too - think I might have found a new favourite! The room was lovely and spacious with a good size bathroom and shower, and the bedding was wonderful high quality - SO cosy and the optional extra blankets in the wardrobe were a thoughtful addition too. The shower's water pressure and temperature was perfect, and the kettle and tea/coffee sachets in the bedroom were a nice touch. In short - I absolutely loved it here.

I liked everything!

Our room was spacious and very comfortable. It was remarkable how quiet our room was and the 12 foot high ceilings added to the ambiance. The shower was quite excellent: full enclosure, choice of overhead rain shower or shower wand, both with normal to fabulous water pressure. The bed was king size and very comfortable, and the breakfasts were delicious. The hosts Susan and Kevin were delightful and the staff very helpful. We stayed multiple nights and the hosts graciously stored extra baggage for us while we traveled. Additionally, the staff assisted us in utilizing the local bus service, as well as, provide taxi service for us. Finally, the small pub was perfect for a good pint and/or Scottish whiskey.

Ceilidh-Donia is a very old hotel and although it has been renovated to modern standards there was no elevator (lift). The staff assisted in taking our luggage up the stairs, but a lift would have been the best option.

My sister and I loved absolutely everything in the hotel, especially the staff who were all adorable. The breakfast was freshly cooked and also had buffet options for cereals, fruits etc. The room was huge and had huge windows toward the front of the hotel with a nice armchair to relax and enjoy the skies.

The absence of a lift, the stairs are quite tight, but it was a very small inconvenience in the overall incredible experience.

I was so happy with my stay. The hotel/B&B is run by a lovely couple called Kevin and Susan and nothing was too much trouble for them. They were so welcoming, helpful and friendly. It was one of my best experiences staying away from home. The location is super too - it is peaceful and there are some wonderful walks nearby (I wish I'd had time for more). It is a quick bus ride into the centre of Edinburgh to go to all the sites as well. One thing - there is no dinner offered but you can order take away and there are loads of places to eat nearby and Kevin and Susan will provide trays, cutlery etc (and they have a bar open until 10pm). Breakfast was delicious (lots of choice) in a lovely bright room and I felt welcomed. My room was a single room and it was charming, clean and you could open your window! (sounds silly but so many hotels are too hot and you can't get any fresh air).

I liked everything. A tiny thing (but I think this would be the case with any B&B) is that the walls are quite thin so you can hear your neighbours. That's OK but the bathrooms have loud fans so I did get woken up if someone put on their bathroom light late at night. I'm not sure if fans can be quieter so this is merely something I wanted to pass on.

I absolutely loved my stay here! The property is excellent and in a fantastic location, making it so easy to explore. It has the charm of an old Scottish home, with plenty of character, yet still feels modern and comfortable. The stairs between floors added to the charm for me—it gave the place a unique and special feel rather than being a standard hotel. A perfect balance of history and comfort. Highly recommend!
