We booked this Hotel as we were attending a wedding at the Cornhill Castle, where no rooms were available. It turned out that this little gem was more than we expected. Our room was small but clean and cozy. We ate in the hotel restaurant. Although the hotel was full and there was a function on in the evening, the staff couldn't be more accommodating. The food served was excellent. Our breakfast was ordered the night before and served freshly made on time. I am going to another wedding at the same venue. I will be sure to book the Elphinstone Hotel again.

Very friendly manager and staff. Excellent food. Quick service. Lovely village setting. Dining room spacious and clean. Food piping hot. Extra towels in room and toiletries provided.

We wanted to sit in the bar on the saturday evening but was told that all the tables were reserved. I found out later that the tables were kept for regulars as the other bar area is closed for renovation. Ended up having to buy a drink and take it to my room. Missed out on a sociable evening, sitting with others having a drink and a chat. I would have expected residents to have access to sit in the bar. Thats the only disappointing thing about our stay.

Perfect little hotel in a great location for a local wedding. The staff were all so welcoming and friendly and remembered our preferences on the second morning even though it was different staff. Rooms were clean and noise minimal. Cannot thank the team enough for going above and beyond for reuniting my daughter with her beloved teddy who we’d mistakenly left behind after he’d fallen behind the bed. Such a thoughtful and caring team, thank you!

Staff were very attentive nothing too much. Rooms good size and met our needs.

Difficult carrying heavy luggage upstairs, however it has no room for a lift. Missed lorne sausage for breakfast especially coming from England expecting a scottish breakfast. Even a fish option such as salmon or kippers would be good. Tv did not work in one of the rooms where children were staying. When I say children one 18, one 17 and other 12 so were bored in the evening.

Very welcoming and helpful staff. Fast check-in. Well appointed, newly refurbished room. Very comfortable bed. Excellent breakfast, both in size and quality of produce.

Snagging problems with plumbing following refurbishment. Wash basin mixer tap seemed to be wrongly connected (red for cold, blue for hot). Supplementary pump required to alleviate low water pressure. It took 5-10 minutes for hot water to run through to the shower and wash basin. This is a short-term issue.

The hotel is well placed in the centre on the main street & the staff were great but the hotel is a bit like your lovely old granny...comfy & creaky with a few cobwebs round the edges

The bedroom I had was a bit dull & the lighting not great. This wouldn't put me off staying there but I think the Elphinstone is due a revamp to get rid of the creaky floorboards & update the bedrooms in general. The bed was really soft so not comfortable for me & the beds were very small singles. I had to push the 2 together to stop me falling out 🤣

The manager went out of his way to help us. We arrived late and missed supper but were allowed to eat our sandwiches in the bar with a glass of wine. The next day we had to leave early for an appointment and were able to eat a quick early lunch. The hotel was a charming old building. The beds were comfortable, bathroom clean, towels provided. The town of Biggar is delightful with alleys running between the buildings up the hill. All staff very friendly and helpful and. We wish we had an excuse to come back.

Staff were excellent for our needs, rooms were great, massive bed which if wanted we could have had a change of sheets the following day but that wasn't necessary, clean towels and bed made even when we said we were fine...

The only small fault was some of the breakfast items that we felt were undercooked but on asking the kitchen staff they returned our plates with fresh cooked sausages etc, no problem to them...

Very friendly staff and very helpful. We were at a wedding a few miles down the road and couldn’t make check in on time. When I called to explain, the person on the other end of the phone was more than helpful and allowed us to turn up a bit later than what was supposed to be the time. The room we got was also very comfortable. It had one double bed and a set of bunk beds along with a very spacious bathroom. The full Scottish fry up was also a delight in the morning after a night at a wedding!

If I was to be pernickety and pick anything at all it would be that the rooms could be modernised but as I said, that’s really digging to find something negative.
