Lovely location, easy to park, staff were friendly and helpful and the food was great.

The hotel wasn’t quite as ‘luxurious’ as I had expected, especially considering the price. The spa facilities were ok. The pool was small and so chlorinated it irritated the children’s skin. The decor in general was very dated and worn, including the bathrobes in our room, which had holes in them. If are you are sensitive to loud, sharp, aggressive noises, or have sleeping babies, autistic children etc, you won’t want to press the button for the lift! The beds weren’t comfortable. None of the above would particularly bother me if I paid a mid-going rate, but for a two night stay plus dinner at the hotel on both nights, it cost a total of £791 for 1 adult and 3 children.

Evening meals were tasty and wholesome.

The full breakfast was a let down. Bacon was under cooked, sausage was square sausage which wasn’t mentioned on the menu. I included beans and these were poured over the bacon and sausage. The staff member who greeted us in the morning always said “is it a table for two?” It would have been so much nicer if you had been welcomed with a cheerful good morning. They were very efficient but you can also be pleasant!

Tasty breakfast, including Eggs Benedict as well as full fry up and continental options. Very substantial evening meal servings! Pleasant bar for drinks/lunch with overspill facility into airy pleasant reception area. Lift went right to top floor, very welcome! Cheery and pleasant local staff.

Nothing really! The heritage site overall was very interesting but could have done with some more banisters on steps and benches to sit down, was very well set up for actual wheelchair users but could have done with some rest points for the less able, particularly as there were some slopes and cobbled areas to negotiate. This is not the fault of the actual hotel though, which was excellent!

We really liked the location and the unique atmosphere of the hotel. Swimming pool was an added bonus and the sauna was excellent. The family room was really spacious.

We are a family of 3. My son is only 12 years old but very tall to his age. He found the sofa bed very uncomfortable. I tried it too and was not nice to sleep on it. The room size is big another bed would fit easily. As a 4 star hotel we were not satisfied with the food. Breakfast was all right but nothing special and using the normal dinner plate to look like it was full, just a trick. Portions were actually rather small. We had the soup of the day for lunch and it was very watery, lacking flavour. We had dinner 2x. I have chicken and pork on the other night with the same type of garnish actually. Again as a 4 star hotel I would expect something better.

The staff were so lovely and attentive. I had a problem with the bed as it was too firm for me but the housekeeper provided a mattress topper so was all good. Grounds are stunning, room was very spacious

We went to use the spa, this was a bit of a let down, pool and jacuzzi was cold. The restaurant is nice but too expensive, at £23 I’d at least like a couple of potatoes or something with my salmon and for £9 ideally a fresh brownie, not one that has went stale. Our other night in restaurant was much better. The bath in the room is very narrow and slippery and I nearly had a nasty accident, I think there should be a grab rail to aid getting in/out the bath. I know this might sound like a bad review, but let me make myself clear, I did have a good time here and feel that due to the professionalism of the staff that this review will be of use to the hotel.

Location was wonderful, room quite spacious very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the tour and the historic information about the setting up of New Lanark. Easy to get to Lanark for the station or a look round the town. Staff polite and helpful.

Our only disappointment of the stay was the food. We would probably have eaten all meals in the hotel otherwise. Dinner on the first evening was mediocre but priced quite high. Breakfast was part of our package, but was also disappointing with dry wrinkled mushrooms daily, and eggs which had been under the lamps too long. Portions were also variable, but generally on the small side. A salad one lunchtime was the only meal that was not disappointing.

The whole place. Soo peaceful. We had a suite on the Top floor with a view over the Clyde. The sound of the water was lovely to hear. Birds singing. The Hotel and Staff were soo welcoming and nothing was any trouble to them. Food excellent. The Mill Cafe / Shop on site was good to visit. The Visitor Centre with a ride which took you back to how life was in 1799. Robert Owens House you cud go in the 4 rooms downstairs only. The Roof Top Garden on the top of the Hotel was amazing. Wonderful walk up The Falls of Clyde. Pool and Spa soo relaxing. Wish we had booked in longer 3 days wasn't enough!!

Suppose the only problem was arrival and we parked on a top car park paid £3 for the 24 hours and we walked down a path to the Hotel. We didn't take any luggage down thank goodness as once we got to the Hotel we were told you cud park.car down there!!! The sign was a bit misleading as it said for Disabled and Business Parking further down. I suppose the top park is really for Day Trippers doing the Walk and Visitor attractions?

Enjoyed our first stay at this hotel so we returned for another overnight visit on a trip to Scotland, as it’s handily situated not too far from the motorway and has both comfort and character. The heritage & history of the buildings and the walk through the wooded valley to the nearby falls make for a special location. Staff were helpful and courteous and the food was excellent. There was a wedding reception taking place downstairs on the evening of our visit so we even had a piano accompaniment to our meal. The hotel has a spa and pool: be aware that if you use the facilities in the afternoon, chances are you’ll be sharing the pool with little ones from a local swim club (not an issue for us but some guests may prefer a morning dip for a more peaceful spa experience) We would happily return to this hotel; it’s slightly more expensive than we would ordinarily pay for an overnight visit but certainly worth it for a special experience (keep an eye out for stay & dine offers). The hotel building is of a size and scale which suggests there are hundreds of bedrooms but in reality there are only a handful; it felt very peaceful during our stay.

To say we enjoyed absolutely everything is an understatement. The two Niamhs on reception, Alan the night porter, the restaurant, bar, and room service were simply exceptional. Every member of staff without fail, were polite, welcoming, and professional. The lady in charge of the restaurant seemed to be everywhere and took excellent care of all our needs. The food was delicious, even the gluten free options. We visited the centre and received a wonderful welcome. Thank you all so very much.

Well, I guess there had to be something, the scones in the visitor centre were really nasty, dry and powdery. Sorry, but true.

Fantastic location in a superb historical setting. Reception staff were great, reception/lounge area really nice with grand piano and spiral stairs to dining area, very tastefully decorated. Bedroom was fabulous - very spacious and well fitted out, ensuite likewise. Gorgeous looking pool and spa area - unfortunately, not enough time to sample it! Evening meal was excellent - more than ample portion size and very tasty!

Bedroom heating had a glitch so we were a bit chilly - reported to staff who were very apologetic, so no doubt that will be sorted. Breakfast seemed a little hurried and rather average - pity really, as it detracted from what would have been an excellent stay. Another little thing - a bottle of water in the bedroom would have been nice.
