Loved the location, the room was finished to a high standard and Cath was a great host, offering recommendations of where to eat (great pub a few minutes walk down the road) and making a booking for us. The location is in the gorgeous countryside of Lanark and this was perfect for us, it was a stop off on our way home after completing the NC500. Peace and quiet was what we were looking for, and that was finished perfectly with the hot tub, the comfy beds and warm home, and a gorgeous breakfast in the morning to fuel us for the final journey home.

Firstly, Cath is an amazing host, so friendly and accommodating- she couldn’t do enough for us. Maggie the dog is an added bonus for us - so cute! The house is in a gorgeous location and has everything you could need. Rooms are big and comfortable, with great quality bedding etc. The breakfast is the best we’ve ever had - definitely couldn’t finish it and Cath’s freshly baked banana bread is divine! Would love to stay again for sure. Thank you Cath for a lovely stay x

Everything was perfect.

My partner and I recently had the pleasure of staying at this charming B&B, and I must say, it was nothing short of fantastic! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmth and hospitality by Cath, the incredible host. Her friendly and hardworking nature truly made our stay memorable. The room we stayed in was large and impeccably clean, offering a perfect blend of comfort and style. The en-suite bathroom was equally spacious and spotless, making our stay even more enjoyable. One of the highlights was definitely the hot tub on the balcony. We spent our evenings soaking in the hot tub while taking in the spectacular view – it was truly a breathtaking experience. Each morning, Cath prepared a wonderful breakfast tailored to our requests. Whether it was a full English breakfast or something lighter, everything was delicious and cooked to perfection. Cath’s dedication to going the extra mile to ensure our stay was enjoyable did not go unnoticed. We left feeling refreshed and pampered, and we’re already planning our next visit. If you’re looking for a relaxing getaway with fantastic hospitality, look no further. We will definitely be back!

Me an my husband liked everything about this place . The host Catherine was a lovely lady made us feel at home really good company lovely to talk to nothing was too much for her . The property was 1000 % excellent accomadation large room with super king sized bed superb bathroom with huge shower .a large balcony outside the room with a hot tub an lovely farmland scenery .also a huge dining area an lounge area with leather couches an huge tv . Breakfast was a must from cereal fresh fruit yogurt fruit juice tea an coffee toast an jams an aswel as all that a choice of hot food including full scottish breakfast . What more could you ask for excellent stay worth every penny great value for money . Will defo be going back an would reccommend .

Everything was perfect. Loved the tea making facilities in the bedroom and the wine glasses. The breakfast was faultless ( probably the best breakfast we have ever had). The bed was so comfortable. Cath made the extra effort to make our trip extra special , nothing was to much trouble. We will definately return!

An amazing family home that they shared with us and especially 'Maggie' the dog, who was absolutely adorable! Really exceptional architecture im this remoddled building!

Backbrae House is exceptional.....a Jewel in Cainwath The House is beautiful & set in an idealic location with outstanding views. The facilities were perfect - comfortable, cosy & quiet. The owner was more like a friend with excellent knowledge of the area. We loved staying at Backbrae House & we both agreed it was the best B&B we had ever stayed in.

Believe all the reviews! This place is heaven on earth. The rooms are beautiful and the beds are just great. Cath was super friendly. The breakfast was delicious. Cath made us a full vegetarian cooked breakfast, it was out of this world. The dining room is really special. Everything is decorated beautifully. Thank you so much for a great start of our holiday. We will definitely be coming back!

Everything about this place, it's location is remote but perfect within travelling distance to places, Catherine is an amazing woman, couldn't do enough for us, she cooked the most amazing brekkie for us, the choice from cereal,fruit,toast,jams,fruit juice it was all there.. you would be daft not to stay here for sure, can't wait to rebook
