We stayed for 3 nights at The Chain Runner and had breakfast there every morning. The breakfast was good - full help yourself cooked breakfast, a selection of cereals, fruit and croissant/pain au chocolat. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms were quiet. The staff were friendly and helpful. Plenty of free parking. There are places to eat nearby but very easy to take a train to Edinburgh to eat or explore without a car. We enjoyed our stay.

There were a couple of cosmetic issues in the rooms but nothing that affected our comfort. The rooms were a bit too warm for us even though we turned the thermostat down but we're used to having it cool.

Iam disabled and the room and bathroom was upto a very high standard ,But with one exception in the bathroom there were no shelves to place anything on and the floor is not a good place to put anything as it is very difficult for a disabled person to bend and pick things up " shelves would be a good thing"

Great location to Livingston designer / restaurants / cinema / Asda superstore etc outlet 5/10 minutes walk away .. Hotel attached to Chain -Runner restaurant / bar was ideal . Very quiet at night so got an excellent sleep

Could’ve done with more toiletries as had to go and buy some ie shower gel hand soap , there was a very small quantity but needed topped up or replaced .. Quite noisy extractor fan in bathroom that never seem to go off . Was in 212 on 2nd second . No instructions to work room heating as we visited from 12 to 14 October ( 2 nights ) as weather outside was miserable and pretty cold at night .. Honestly that’s me being picky though …

All staff members that I spoke to were so so lovely and polite. All details of what to expect during the stay were explained during check in, and the gentleman running the front desk at the reception on the 5/10/24 at around 7:15am was so helpful in helping me finding a local taxi cab number as I’m from England and wasn’t sure about what number to call. Just as stated at check in our rooms were not entered until we had our “ please clean me “ sign on the door and all the new top ups / fresh towels and new mugs were so neatly arranged after our day out which was lovely to come back to.

Easy access and parking. Good food (Dinner and Breakfast). Friendly and helpful staff. Excellent shower room for guest with limited mobility. Short walk to several supermarkets. Room was very clean.

Asked and got twin beds, however room was a bit small for this and hardly space to get into one of the beds. Breakfast was fine, but would have preferred full buffet. Difficult (Approx 150 yds) outside walk in snow and ice for wife with arm crutch to get to bar/dining room. (Hotel cannot be blamed for the weather but would be very unpleasant in heavy rain and wind)

Easy checkin and checkout.Family room double bed & 2 singles. Comfortable size. Good shower and bathroom. TV. Air conditioning. All staff friendly and so helpful. Excellent Staff. Good breakfast options for all needs and tasty no issues. Great location and carpark. Beside shopping centre and multiple restaurant options.

With minimal effort on minor issues I'd have nothing negative to say about our stay. Attention to detail in rooms would have a huge positive benefit. Think management guidance could improve this greatly.An extra 20mins cleaning would make such a difference. Net curtains stains(change if dirty ), shower curtain stains (change if dirty), base edge of bed scuffed and marks /scuff on walls (wet cloth and detergent go a long way). Bathroom fan wouldn't turn off. At times hear people walking on floor above.

Location for shopping is excellent. Coffee/tea facilities are available in the room. Staff in the check-in reception and the restaurant are helpful, friendly, and efficient. Food in the restaurant is warming and delicious.

Bathroom/ toilet fixtures were falling apart. Single beds were too narrow. The key card for entry into the inn didn't work the first time, so we had to go walk back into the pub to change it. It was rainy, windy, and cold but not really a big deal but still a bit inconvenient with our bags in that situation.

We really loved our stay. The hotel building is separate from the restaurant and pub, and it was quiet, clean and comfortable. It had easy access to shopping, the main road to Edinburgh and to the train. The food in the restaurant was so good, and the staff we chatted with were so friendly and kind and made our stay amazing. And it had a tub, something we didn’t see anywhere else we stayed in Scotland!

I wish there was a fridge! Not a huge deal but having a cold drink or a place to store some takeout would have been great

Enjoyed my short stay here - it was just a very quick overnight stay for work next morning. At check in the staff allowed me a late departure next day, as I was finishing my event at 10:30am and just wanted to get back, change clothes and head home. Thank you very much for this. Dinner was excellent and good value.

Expectations were met - no complaints Would recommend to anyone looking for a quick overnight stay, possibly before heading to the airport for a departure next morning.

The hotel was overall fine for what we needed: access to a train station (5-10min by car!) to reach Edinburgh for sightseeing. The place is in the middle of a huge retail area, although one can walk easily into the old 'village' area, which was nice. The attached pub was good for a dinner. The breakfast was ok, but not great.

Temperature at night was too hot, bedding too warm as well.
