well placed for getting around Train station was just up the street from hotel so we left the car at hotel and jumped on the train to Glasgow -great price for 4 of us to get to Glasgow and back without it being too expensive

No lift - our room was a bit of a trek when we arrived carrying suitcase and couple of other bags -but room was clean and ready when we arrived-one small item room could do with a little of decorating wallpaper was bit tired Television was also fixed to the wall would be nice if it was on a movable bracket for sitting watching in bed

We were given a really warm welcome by the receptionist after a long journey. As part of the booking process, my hubby & I requested a room with a 'walk-in' shower as I'm mobility impaired, but received a message to say that this may not be possible. However, we were allocated room 1, which is a twin with a shower room, not a wet room. But for me personally it was perfect, and the twin beds had been made into a superking which we really appreciated and was really comfy. We had a fabulous cooked & continental style breakfast, which was a perfect start to the day. All staff we came into contact with were polite, friendly & professional. The location is perfect as a stopover on our way from Shropshire to North of Inverness, hotel located not far off the motorway.

I was born in motherwell and always class it as home. My sister lives close by and going up the street for messages was full of memories. The hotel is beautiful and the staff were all lovely, especially sigma (hope I've spelt that correctly) she was so lovely to talk too. Unfortunately my father is dying and we came home for a last trip so thank you.

Due to it being close to Christmas and it being my dad's last time coming home the prices for food were very expensive and the dining room was never full so maybe offer a less expensive menu when the venue isn't busy. So we ate out as it was more affordable. Maybe add a lift. Luckily, we were able to be placed on the ground floor.

We upgraded to a superior room. This was spacious, very clean and tidy. The bed was huge and super comfy with super comfy pillows as well. Lovely tea/coffee tray with the added touch of biscuits and Tunnocks caramel wafers. Our room was on the ground floor to the front of the building but no noise from the traffic at all. Staff were polite, helpful, welcoming and very professional.

The only part I did not like was the upstairs customer who appeared to be clumping around in big tackity boots in the wee small hours - this is no reflection on the staff, the hotel or our stay - just the customer who had no sense of being quiet or respectful to anyone sleeping.

Good location for access & in a nice area. Breakfast selection & quality were both good, very friendly and attentive service from the staff - special mention to Kris and also the breakfast team. Room was in good condition and also very clean. Free onsite car parking was nice.

Bath/shower set up was my only observation for my room - only had a side shower arm mounted low down on the wall, with no shower screen or curtain meaning you had to sit in the bath to take a shower. Not an issue for me, but might be for other guests.

Very friendly welcome, nothing was too much trouble. I liked that the hotel had some history and is family run. Room was very clean and presentable and the bed was comfortable. Lovely breakfast & evening meal. Good value for money. Brilliant location easy access to motorways and all routes. Easy parking.

A few suggestions. The building is old with lots of character. The downside of this is having very small windows making our room very dark. I think using a lighter colour on the walls would help to lift this a little. Also the only windows that opened were quite high up and hard to reach so I had to stand on a chair so a bit unsafe. We were spoiled having fresh towels every day, but it's more environmentally friendly having the option to reuse.

The hotel was well run. Not a lot to say. It did everything correctly for us. There wasn't anything exceptional, just an overall above average room, in a desirable location and coupled with a good breakfast and staff.

The only downside was the noise outside was loud through the night and the morning. The walls towards the outside of the building aren't perfect when it comes to keeping sound out. I slept fine but I assume others would have some hassle.

Hotel was clean and comfortable and we were given the choice of breakfast options made fresh the next morning. Staff was courteous and helpful. Restaurant was full (we did not make a reservation in advance), but we were able to order food which was brought to our room. Parking was convenient for accessing the building, although you do have to negotiate a few stairs.

I forgot to ask for a quiet room and ended up being near an inner door where many other guests pass through, which is disruptive when you don't stay up late, as others do.

Room was beautiful with excellent standard of cleanliness and a very comfortable bed. Bar and restaurant were also of avery high standard and excellent staff.

Booked a 9.30 slot for a cooked breakfast, however had to remind the waitress and ended up receiving it a full 30mins later than booked at 10am. Quality of cooked breakfast was excellent but my partner had asked for no egg, no beans and no tomato. I think he could have been given one extra slice of bacon but nothing offered.

The property is very clean, attractive, well kept up. The staff is super kind and accommodating. Dinning area/ bar is spacious and has an elegant decor.

We were put on third floor with no elevator. They did help with the luggage, but after hiking up all the stairs, my knees couldn’t take it. They were kind enough to move us, but then we were put almost right across from kitchen which could get really loud. One night there was a party in conference room so there was a lot of noise from it. It didn’t bother us since we went to sleep late. However, others may not like the loud music until 11PM. Food was OK. I had fish one night and have never been served such a small portion, maybe three slices, 2.5 inches by 1 inch for almost 20 pounds. They never came back to check on us after delivering food. Other than that incident, the service was good.
