We were given a really warm welcome by the receptionist after a long journey. As part of the booking process, my hubby & I requested a room with a 'walk-in' shower as I'm mobility impaired, but received a message to say that this may not be possible. However, we were allocated room 1, which is a twin with a shower room, not a wet room. But for me personally it was perfect, and the twin beds had been made into a superking which we really appreciated and was really comfy. We had a fabulous cooked & continental style breakfast, which was a perfect start to the day. All staff we came into contact with were polite, friendly & professional. The location is perfect as a stopover on our way from Shropshire to North of Inverness, hotel located not far off the motorway.

I was born in motherwell and always class it as home. My sister lives close by and going up the street for messages was full of memories. The hotel is beautiful and the staff were all lovely, especially sigma (hope I've spelt that correctly) she was so lovely to talk too. Unfortunately my father is dying and we came home for a last trip so thank you.

Due to it being close to Christmas and it being my dad's last time coming home the prices for food were very expensive and the dining room was never full so maybe offer a less expensive menu when the venue isn't busy. So we ate out as it was more affordable. Maybe add a lift. Luckily, we were able to be placed on the ground floor.

We upgraded to a superior room. This was spacious, very clean and tidy. The bed was huge and super comfy with super comfy pillows as well. Lovely tea/coffee tray with the added touch of biscuits and Tunnocks caramel wafers. Our room was on the ground floor to the front of the building but no noise from the traffic at all. Staff were polite, helpful, welcoming and very professional.

The only part I did not like was the upstairs customer who appeared to be clumping around in big tackity boots in the wee small hours - this is no reflection on the staff, the hotel or our stay - just the customer who had no sense of being quiet or respectful to anyone sleeping.

Very friendly welcome, nothing was too much trouble. I liked that the hotel had some history and is family run. Room was very clean and presentable and the bed was comfortable. Lovely breakfast & evening meal. Good value for money. Brilliant location easy access to motorways and all routes. Easy parking.

A few suggestions. The building is old with lots of character. The downside of this is having very small windows making our room very dark. I think using a lighter colour on the walls would help to lift this a little. Also the only windows that opened were quite high up and hard to reach so I had to stand on a chair so a bit unsafe. We were spoiled having fresh towels every day, but it's more environmentally friendly having the option to reuse.

Hotel was clean and comfortable and we were given the choice of breakfast options made fresh the next morning. Staff was courteous and helpful. Restaurant was full (we did not make a reservation in advance), but we were able to order food which was brought to our room. Parking was convenient for accessing the building, although you do have to negotiate a few stairs.

I forgot to ask for a quiet room and ended up being near an inner door where many other guests pass through, which is disruptive when you don't stay up late, as others do.

The property is very clean, attractive, well kept up. The staff is super kind and accommodating. Dinning area/ bar is spacious and has an elegant decor.

We were put on third floor with no elevator. They did help with the luggage, but after hiking up all the stairs, my knees couldn’t take it. They were kind enough to move us, but then we were put almost right across from kitchen which could get really loud. One night there was a party in conference room so there was a lot of noise from it. It didn’t bother us since we went to sleep late. However, others may not like the loud music until 11PM. Food was OK. I had fish one night and have never been served such a small portion, maybe three slices, 2.5 inches by 1 inch for almost 20 pounds. They never came back to check on us after delivering food. Other than that incident, the service was good.

Room was beautiful with excellent standard of cleanliness and a very comfortable bed. Bar and restaurant were also of avery high standard and excellent staff.

Booked a 9.30 slot for a cooked breakfast, however had to remind the waitress and ended up receiving it a full 30mins later than booked at 10am. Quality of cooked breakfast was excellent but my partner had asked for no egg, no beans and no tomato. I think he could have been given one extra slice of bacon but nothing offered.

I like the rooms with the walk in shower as my husband has back trouble. The staff, as always, were delightful and really attentive and even more so over the Christmas period. Excellent staff in all areas.

The room was good, even though I had to "bid" to upgrade which I have never been asked to do before. The delux rooms were not on offer when I booked some weeks earlier and as it was over the Christmas period, the hotel was not full except on Christmas day! The bidding idea, I won't do that again as I really do not know whether I under or overpaid for my room?

Staff were very attentive and couldn’t do enough for you. Sincere and actively concerned that you should have everything you need especially at breakfast service. Breakfast was excellent and great variety of continental and cooked breakfast options.

Bed was orthopaedic type and very uncomfortable. Needs mattress topper. Choice of pillows would be good - pillows also big and quite firm. Only one needed to avoid neck ache. Also had nap disturbed by dog and arrivals in next room leaving the animal while they went out. Howled and barked for a good 35/40 mins which meant we didn’t get our nap. When we reported it staff contacted owner and they returned eventually but this spoiled the day and our Hogmanay preparation.

Cannot Fault this Hotel. We've just had our 1st Grandbaby, 2 days old, and needed to come up from Hull to meet him and wanted to bring our own fur baby. No problem and only £10 per night extra for her to stay and she was allowed in the Restaurant/Bar with us. Gorgeous Building. Receptionist was so friendly Just a lovely experience. We will definitely be back Thank you x

Genuinely cannot think of anything we didn't like. We missed evening meal by minutes but they have to have a cut off time so we understood.
