The room was nice and cosy and the beds were super comfortable. Our hosts, Sandy and Cathy, were so kind and friendly. They helped us wherever they could with advice and even with substance to clean my glasses. Breakfast was lush, with an unexpected nice creamy bowl of yoghurt with mango, strawberry pinned to the edge of the glass. Really good place to visit Glasgow and Edinburgh. Best to get to Edinburgh by driving to P&R Ingliston and take the tram from there to Princes Street. Cheapest and most comfortable way.

The pub next door didn't do food, so we had to drive for dinner.

The accommodation was located directly on the street, which only slightly affected the view from my room, while my nephew's room faced the car park and garden. The rooms were small but well furnished and cosy for our purposes. The hosts were extremely friendly, and the breakfast was excellent.

There is nothing to complain about. Single rooms are a bit small, which makes it difficult to handle large suitcases. However, everything worked out fine.

Staying in Shawlee Cottage was like hitting the jackpot! It truely ticked every box. Sandy and Cathy who run this BnB were exceptionally kind, friendly and accommodating. They provided one of the best breakfast spreads I’ve ever experienced and they gave me some delicious goodies throughout my stay. My room was also very clean and comfortable. The town itself is quite small, however, I enjoyed walking and bussing to the neighbouring towns (would recommend the Summerlee Museum of Scottish Industrial Life in Coatbridge). I’m very much looking forward to returning!

Nothing to fault

Sandy and Cathy were absolutely amazing host. Best breakfast we had during our entire trip to Scotland! You could not ask for better host! They treated us like family. Our daughter got engaged while we were staying there and they came out to the pub next door to celebrate with us! Sandy and Cathy were the first to be invited to the wedding!

There wasn’t anything not to like! The rooms were a bit small, but the hospitality that you get while you are there more than makes up for it! The pub next door gives you all the room you need to congregate after a day of exploring! Absolutely loved everything about our experience here.

Sandy and Cathy were so welcoming and accommodating from the moment I checked in. Felt very safe and secure during my stay. Room was spacious and clean. Breakfast was made to order, delicious and loved the chats with the other guests and hosts in the morning. Close proximity to Airdrie Train Station (regular trains to Glasgow City Centre) and short commute to surrounding hospitals. Couldn't recommend the stay more! Our hosts, Kathy and Sandy, were fantastic. Their local knowledge and suggestions on what to do and see were invaluable. A generous breakfast was provided each morning in charming surroundings. The B & B offers excellent value for money. Highly recommended.

This is not a question of what we didn't like, but visitors should be aware that there is no lounge or common area where they can sit and visit or perhaps play a game in the evening.

Sandy was very welcoming and ensured I was happy throughout my stay. Unfortunately, I never met his wife due to her being ill. I would definitely stay at Shawlee Cottage again in the future and I would recommend this hospitality to anyone looking for a warm, comfortable, good breakfast and nice hosts. Thank you for making my stay a pleasant one.

Sandy & Cathy Aitken are the most phenomenal people. Their kindness and hospitality made me feel as if I had unpacked my entire home—they are where the heart is. Admittedly, I felt a ‘wee bit’ sad having to say goodbye. Sandy & Cathy, many thanks for everything! The room, the breakfasts, the talks, the laughs—you’ve made my first to trip to Scotland absolutely wonderful. Nothing to dislike at all

Sandy and Cathy were lovely hosts, nothing was too much hassle. The room was perfect for myself and the bed was so comfortable, the duck filled duvet was a nice touch. really enjoyed the peacefulness of the cottage. The cottage is beautifully kept. Breakfast was delicious! I really enjoyed my stay, and would recommend it to anyone. I will definitely be back! Thank you so much sandy & Cathy 😊
