Stayed in loads of hotels. This is by far theeee best, and my now go too for a wee reset and refresh . They have a variety of different rooms twins ,dbl,fourposter all super cosy and comfiest beds . I had slight blipp with water but was sorted immediately...the staff are all soo friendly and efficient even with refurbishment going on (did not affect stay ) all hands were on deck and always someone avaible to help . The grounds are very well kept and big space for dogs to run around also next to clydside were you can also take a walk . Breakfast, lunch and dinner menu available you can book when you arrive all In all I highly recommend this place 👌😊

i had a suite booked on the 4th and 5th of october as i was getting married on 5th at dalserf church which is 5 minutes away from the popinjay. i also had a private room for lunch for 60 guests. i also had 2 double rooms booked for 5th for the bridesmaid and best man. the hotel was good enough to give me an early check-in for my stepson Ciarans room at 12pm so the groom and best man could get into their kilts and save me seeing tommy b4 the church. my daughters, make-up artist and dresser and my sister were all coming to our suite at 10am to get our hair and make-up done. the staff were very accomadating. we are going back tonight for an overnight away

The Poppinjay is a very established hotel. It has recently gone under extensive refurbishment to a very high standard. I would rate it excellent. From the welcome and helpful reception from Andre on our arrival to the staff who offered to carry our cases. The housekeeping staff were super efficient and to be commended on their standards of cleanliness and their cheerful demeanour that nothing was a problem. We ate dinner in the beautifully decorated dining room. The food was delicious and plentiful. The whole vibe of the Poppinjay Hotel is hard to beat and ticked every box as guests. Special mention to Elaine on checkout. I had a bit of a problem (nothing at all to do with the hotel) ...but she helped immensely with her kindness and understanding. To sum up, our stay at the Poppinjay with regards to accommodation, welcome, food, staff, the whole hotel is brilliant. They have nailed it. Hard act to follow, well done and thank you so much.

Booked as a last minute stay over hotel reception was very clean booking in process very quick went to room was very clean bed was very comfy view not so good overlooking the part of the hotel that had a fire in 2022 but it was not a problem for me there was no burnt smell when i opened the windows went for an evening meal the food took about 20 minutes to arrive but was cooked fresh so the wait was worth it food and service were both excellent no beer on draught so bottled beer was about £4.20 a pint food prices are reasonable nothing too expensive but in my opinion worth the money for what we got would i recommend this hotel yes i would and will be staying here again when in the location

I have only 1 little gripe i could not fill the kettle from the sink tap as the sink is very small you could have fit a slightly bigger sink into the bathroom to get over this so i had to remove shower head to fill kettle from the shower pipe

We wanted a cute place to recover from the flight before starting our tour. The staff was SO helpful and worked with us to find dinner reservations and locations to visit. Breakfast was traditional English and very tasty! Because one of our suitcases went on its own little excursion, the hotel was kind enough to sign for it and place it in our room. My husband had a bit of a health issue on the last day and the staff was SUPER responsive and helpful, so we were able to get him back into condition to continue our trip. (The staff even loaded ALL our bags into our car for us!)

Everything was terrific! This area gave us a couple of days to figure out the "driving on the left" situation.

What stood out most was the staff. The lady on reception was friendly and helpful; the cleaning ladies we met were great and even offered to help get our cases up the stairs. The restaurant staff were very friendly and accommodating. We were staying for one night on our way back from Inverness and felt valued as customers. In addition to the friendly and helpful staff, dinner was very good and breakfast was superb. Also, bed was very comfortable. We would definitely stay here again when next travelling that way, and have no hesitation in recommending the hotel.

The only thing was there was a lot of traffic noise as we were right next to the busy main road. Also, the doors were very noisy and the people in the room next door were unable to come back quietly at 4.00 am !

Location was really pretty with gardens, farm areas and river to walk my dog. Hotel was convenient for travelling to and from Glasgow. Bowls, bedding and biscuits provided for dog too. Room service with breakfast was really welcome. Room and Bed was really comfortable and was given a fan for room during hot weather weekend. Hotel staff were lovely…welcoming, friendly and went above and beyond to help with any request to ensure a comfortable stay at Popinjay.

Rooms at the front of the hotel are single glazed, they overlook busy A road so really noisy, even early hours of the morning… so bring your ear plugs. Netflix and Prime available but WiFi not connecting on smart tv during my stay.

Staff were very helpful, polite and courteous. The room was comfortable. Lovely countryside location. Close to neighbouring towns (Lanark).

The hotel was a little tired and badly in need of repair and a bit of an overhaul. Only choice of two meals at dinner. Mine was served barely warm, vegetables overcooked beef steak pie like mush and over salted and unpalatable. Staff were apologetic, we did not have to pay. We drove to Lanark and ordered the same meal which was delicious and cooked properly. Hotel caters to bus tours and large groups, we were advised to order our supper upon arrival (around 5:00 pm) to avoid the invasion!...we'd barely got in the door! The breakfast buffet was well grazed by by 8:30, we did however manage to get a decent breakfast. A staff member provided me with a lovely yogurt and fresh fruit option. We chose not to request a warm breakfast as our expectations were low after dinner!

The room was spacious with comfortable beds. Nicely decorated had all we needed for a 1 night stay over. We all had a meal late afternoon. The food was exceptional. We had a 2 course the starters were haggis the mains were Chicken stuffed with black pudding then wrapped in bacon. We sent our compliments to the chef as I have never tasted a meal so good. Menu prices were very good for the standard of the food I would have expected to pay much more.

The bathroom was a disability purpose wet room which I didn't expect or like. High toilet with no seat and a very low sink which I presume was for a wheelchair. As I was only staying for 1 night I did not find the need to complain.

Very confortable beds, we had an issue with the room we were first assigned and the staff was very nice and accommodating, finding us another room very quickly. Staff is very very kind and courteous. A very nice walk to do around the area

Not very clean, dust and spiders here and there, in need of a refresh, squeaky floors in the rooms, we were able to hear other guests. You may hear the traffic just outside if your room is on the side of the road
