EVERYTHING, from the location, the parking outside, the room, the breakfast and 2 minutes walk to the Black Bull for an evening meal. Our bedroom was lovely and spacious, with our own separate bathroom and a large lounge with comfy sofas to enjoy as well as an open fire. Breakfast was in a dining room that would have done justice to a TV drama setting and food to match. Truly exceptional. Our hosts, Margot and Les really make you welcome. If this is on your route and you need to break your journey don't miss the opportunity to stay here. We only stayed the one night but wish we'd booked on the way home as well

We had a very warm welcome from our host. This is a super find, right in Lauder and perfect as we were travelling south next day. We had a lovely bedroom with a huge bed. Beautiful bedlinen. Large shower. A guest sitting room with comfy sofas and tv.The breakfast choice was terrific and made extra special with the beautifully laid out table and matching crockery. We were treated like royalty as opposed to being just another number on a booking list in some chain hotel. Would highly recommend this accommodation.
Nothing at all.

A wonderful home from home stay. Lovely period property with tasteful furnishings very much like our own home, albeit it on a much larger and grander scale. Comfy bedding and in room facilities eclipsed by a lovely sitting room exclusively for our family groups use. Margot was forever making and topping up the roaring fires so it was all very cosy and comfortable. The hosts couldn’t be more hospitable and as for the breakfast …..well, read all the other positive reviews as they’re quite right, breakfast was exceptional. Can’t rate this place highly enough, and quite frankly Margot is a real gem and we look forward to returning in the future.

An absolute gem in the Borders. Margot is the most hospitable, accommodating and friendly host you could wish to meet. The quality of every aspect of this home, from the linen to the mattresses to the wonderful lounge area, is absolutely top notch. The attention to detail, is second to none. If there's a better breakfast served anywhere in the UK, I am yet to have it. The location is excellent too with a large numbers of attractions nearby, whilst there's also an excellent pub only a couple of minutes walk from the home. I cannot recommend this place highly enough.

Great location, super cute/vintage-like decor, very comfortable bed and pillows, all the amenities and facilities and more, super tasty homemade breakfast (with vegetarian options), but above all, THE BEST service/staff >> super welcoming and caring host! Thank you 🙏 Added bonus: dog-friendly!! Chilling by the fireplace, reading our books and painting = dream. Also, there is plenty of parking. Loads to do around the area, but still quiet/little village even during low season.
Nothing! Everything was superb 👌

Margo was so accommodating and friendly. We had asked to check in early if possible as we were attending a wedding nearby and needed to spruce ourselves up after our car journey. She was kind enough to go out of her way to ensure the room was turned around and ready for our arrival. The room was immaculate and some lovely touches - mints on the pillow, bathrobes, tea and coffee in the room. Breakfast was delicious and varied! Couldn’t really have asked for a better stay.

Location perfect for Thirlestane Castle only 15 minutes’ walk from the B&B. Off road car parking. Exceptional breakfast, outstanding quality produce from local producers and beautifully presented.
There was nothing not to like. It’s a period property which has been cherished over the years and filled with love and fine furniture, very clean, very quiet, apart from the creaking floorboards, includes all essentials, WIFI and USB ports and very comfortable beds.

This was one of the best places I have ever stayed at. Margot was an exceptional host with every fine detail considered. The B and B was warm and welcoming with a traditional aesthetic. Everything was spotlessly clean, the bedroom and bathroom accommodated all of our needs, the linens were of great quality and the bed was very comfortable. Even though it was the front bedroom onto the road the room was very peaceful. The breakfast was delicious with so many delicious options to choose from: all food was well sourced. The dining room was exquisite: the table was laid beautifully with the open fire roaring on a dreary Sunday morning. Margot catered for a gluten free diet too. Overall it was an exceptional B and B and would highly recommend.

Breakfast was generous with plenty of enticing choices, nicely presented. The hostess, Margot, was attentive and and helpful without being intrusive. She ensured we were warm in the lounge and breakfast room; it's a long time since we were able to sit in front of a roaring fire on a cold winter's night. The bedroom was cosy and comfortable, with dressing gowns provided. Being elderly and not very steady on my feet, I very much appreciated help with luggage on the stairs and outside steps.
Although the bathroom was spotlessly clean, and generally well appointed, the large mirror was not conveniently located for someone wishing to shave; also my wife was not tall enough to be able to use it comfortably. A small mirror over the sink would have been a useful addition.

Absolutely beautiful place to stay, bed is the comfiest we have ever slept in. Margo was an amazing host. She was very polite, friendly and welcoming and her breakfast was the best I had had in a long time. We felt like we were staying with a friend for the night not just staying in a B&B. You can tell Margo truly cares about her guests. I highly recommend this place to stay and if we come back up for another trip we will definitely be staying here.
