The Tweeddale was a great place for our 3 day break. The staff were really welcoming and friendly and the place had real charm. Breakfast, was a simple continental affair but with everything to a good quality. We had one evening meal, over the stay, which was of good quality and perfectly cooked. Although it was a limited menu, it had a good selection on offer. The attached bar (accessible by a separate entrance) was great. Cosy, with a good selection on offer, a great barman and really friendly locals, happy to enjoy a conversation or two.

The only gripe, if you can call it that, was the shower in our en-suite. I'm not quite sure why but it genuinely took 2-3 minutes for the water to get up to temperature.

Room was small but had everything I needed ie shower toiletries, tea/coffee facilities hairdryer etc Food was nice, good portions. Kitchen shuts at 20.30hrs so to be mindful if checking in late. As no alternatives really.

Bit dated looking Also left my iPhone fast charger in room, despite phoning hotel re this less than 2 hours later, and returning to hotel the next day - I was not reunited with it which was disappointing. Although staff gave me an old charger which fitted my phone from their lost and found box

Lovely location adjacent to Gifford village Green. Very comfortable and friendly traditional Scottish Pub. Our third stay here.

The continental breakfast was very nice. Normally I would have had a Scottish cooked breakfast however temporarily a Breakfast chef was not available. We were eating at relatives in the evening however the evening meals menu looked good and included Gluten free options which would be have been excellent for our family requirements.

Overnight stay, beautiful hotel, tastefully furnished/decorated. Bedroom was great, comfy beds/pillows and good bathroom. On street parking outside which was convenient. Food was great. Had dinner and continental breakfast. Dinner was great value for money and great selection for continental breakfast. Very friendly staff during breakfast.

Whilst all staff Very professional, felt receptionist/bAr staff who checked us in was a little nervous.

Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, super friendly and a pleasure to speak to. I needed some goats milk storing in the fridge for a few days and I was able to keep it in the kitchen fridge. I didn't have breakfast on either morning as I had to leave before it was served but I was offered a packed lunch which I accepted although I didn't see anyone on the Saturday morning to collect it. However, this was not a problem for me. The room was homely and I liked the automatic bathroom light. I had an evening meal which was lovely. Very dog friendly with a nice walk very close by.

I could not get BBC 1 or 2 on my TV, which I did tell a lady who was unaware of it. Toilet seat is in desperate need of oiling! It was difficult to get out of the shower cubicle as it was narrow and I didn't want to slip.

Room was comfortable, but poor hot water flow for bath, and single bed a bit narrow, though sheets ,pillows and duvet were of a high quality. Slightly disappointed with breakfast as I was not offered hot toast and marmalade and maybe the offer of latte would be nice. Room nice and warm Lovely,helpful staff

Poor hot-water supply for a bath,but soap etc were fine,and lovely clean,soft towels. Hot toast should have been made available…a must for breakfast. Single bed a bit narrow, but linen was excellent

The room was lovely - I had noticed on other reviews that some people had said the décor was a bit "dated" - Well I loved it. The hotel had an old Victorian feel. I think it would be gorgeous and cosy in the winter. The staff were lovely , very friendly and helpful and the food was amazing. Best steak pie I've had in a long time. Portions were plenty. Breakfast was continental but plenty of everything. I'll definitely be back

The shower curtain was hung at a strange angle which made showering without the curtain sticking to you impossible.

Lovely traditional country village hotel. We have stayed here 4-5 times in recent years and enjoy the hotel a lot. Very helpful friendly staff, great breakfast and nice evening meals. Rooms are comfortable and are decorated in a traditional style. Overall a great value hotel.

Not really the hotels fault however the nearby landowners have introduced gas guns to scare off the birds from their crops. Unfortunately our dog gets scared every time the guns go off making it impossible for us to walk our dog anymore down in Gifford. The guns appear to have been introduced in the last couole of years

Room was great with street view, very traditional furniture, which was totally in keeping with the rest of this very traditional Hotel. Staff and patrons were very friendly, the bar was great, with outside seating in the warm May sunshine. Breakfast was continental and excellent choice of pastries, cereals, fruit, toast coffee and juices, Dinner in the restaurant was good, although the huge portions meant we were completely stuffed!

Gifford hasn't changed much in my lifetime, the village retains its old fashioned charm and it has a very relaxing atmosphere away from the hustle and bustle of the big towns and cities. I mostly enjoy driving over the lammermuir Hills where I spent so much time in my younger days, the scenery is breathtaking. The Tweeddale arms Hotel Gifford is an excellent base to tour around the area.
