Impressive setting with lovely grounds to explore and within easy reach of North Berwick and other coastal towns. All the staff were very helpful and efficient. Excellent food in the restaurant both at dinner and breakfast with an option to eat in the lounge area rather than the restaurant. The afternoon tea can be recommended.

The first night was spent in one of the large Cottage Rooms but this was nowhere near 5* accommodation. The room was dark and musty and the bed was brick hard which meant no sleep. We were able to upgrade to a room within the hotel but were charged extra for each night. This room was better but still not 5* and we had to request coffee making facilities. The windows were in poor condition. The food in the restaurant was as good as we had expected but the menu did not seem to vary at all for the three nights we stayed.

Amazing country home with so much history snd laid-back exceptional surroundings. The staff, especially Kate, really made our stay fun and bespoke. The restaurant and chef were so spot-on and it was overall a great escape from the hustle and bustle in a place that feels like home (but with a much better garden!)

The cottage lodging has only stairs leading up to it which could have been a problem for a guest with mobility issues, but we enjoyed the privacy and little walk to the main building!

This property was perfect. We were visiting the golf next door which was within short walking distance. Our stay in the hotel was lovely, everything was to a very high standard and the hotel manger was beyond professional and welcoming.

The only thing that slightly let it down was the breakfast staff the next morning, they were slow and we had to keep getting their attention. But the food very nice so we didn’t mind too much.

I have stayed in some beautiful places around Europe and America, some swanky and some glitzy. This place has that lived and loved in home feeling with playfulness and joy in its surroundings. Never has a place captured my heart like here, haste us back. Thank you to the family that has preserved that homely loving environment that we played in and experienced so much joy in.

The hotel is a beautiful Edwardian house with a lovely garden and location overlooking the famous Muirfield golf Course with views out Fife. There are lots of different reception rooms so you can choose if you want to be quiet or sociable. There are lots of interesting photos and pictures with history of the hotel and golf memorabilia. the house has real character and kind of hugs you!

staff super friendly, attentive and helpful, the grounds are so well kept, the garden was beautiful for wandering, our cottage was a great size and very comfortable. our dog was looked after as well, and if you're looking for a new mascot for the property she's open to offers !

the room could do with a bit of tlc. It was very clean (spotless in fact!), but some of the walls, curtains etc looked a bit tired and in need of a refresh.

Cleanliness unfortunately there was a lot of dust bedroom table lights dining area free standing table my wife ran her hand over the table thinking it would be cleaned unfortunately the following day still full of dust. Indian tv being played while have breakfast and under staffed first day. Service was a lot better on the second day

Lovely buildings,nice setting,and gardens. Excellent dinner at Chez Roux restaurant.

Room was remote from the main building (which we knew) and the pathway had lots of puddles and was muddy due to heavy rain which meant we had to walk on the wet grass to get to the restaurant. Room was rather chilly when we checked in but did warm up quickly once the heating was turned on. Breakfast was very disappointing as all the food we were served was cold and clearly not made to order.

The food was fantastic. Free room upgrade was appreciated. The staff were also fantastic, especially taking cases to and from the car but (see below) The garden was incredible.

The pot-holes in the drive. The room was very cold when we arrived and took a few hours to heat up. We would have preferred that the heating be turned on sometime prior to our arrival. The combined fan and light switch in the bathroom meant disturbed sleep. The light switches were not easily accessed. One bulb was strobing.

The staff are the hotel's greatest asset. Very pleasant and attentive We travelled with our labrador and the hotel gave us a private dining room as dogs are not allowed in main areas of the hotel

Our daughter had noisy guests above them which kept them awake as insulation between floors in the garden rooms not optimal
