I've stayed at Mansfield before and had enjoyable dinners and afternoon teas here. It is reliably comfortable with friendly staff and is well maintained, a little haven of peace and tranquility. My room was very comfortable even though I had booked for a 1 night stay as a single guest, I'd expected something a little more ordinary. It was exceptionally clean, welcoming and reassuringly perfect in every way. The fee was great value for money including a delicious breakfast. I saw 3 roe deer on the lawn in the morning which was just magical! This hotel is a hidden gem.

The fan in the bathroom was rather loud!

Very friendly staff, my room was very comfortable and a decent size. Pretty good value for money as the rate I paid included breakfast. The room had both a kettle and a pod style coffee machine, large screen TV and a very comfortable bed. All in all, a very pleasant stay. The hotel is on the outskirts of the town, perhaps a 15 minute walk from the center. It's in a fairly elevated position and is quite far away from the main road so it's in a pretty tranquil spot. One thing to note, the footpath up to the hotel is quite narrow and steep, it was also quite slippery in places due to leaves on the stairs but if this proves to be a problem, you could always walk up the driveway instead.

I would have preferred the breakfast service to be available for longer than just an hour. Also, 0800 to 0900 is a bit early, especially on a Sunday morning, but to be entirely fair, the times are advertised so it's not like the serving time was a surprise to me. I didn't manage to get up in time for breakfast but the person I was traveling with did and they said it was excellent quality. So I missed out, but if you like getting up early, you'll probably really enjoy the breakfast.

Breakfasts were fine, the rooms were comfortable, clean and well-appointed. The water was hot and plentiful for baths. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The setting, grounds and gardens were exceptional. Whilst the rooms may be pricey in comparison to some venues, you certainly get what you pay for.

I found the room rather too warm for my taste and quite difficult to ventilate without encouraging in midges. Still, that may have been because we also experienced good weather for our visit days following a wet period.

Nice greeting and very helpful staff. The room was large, comfortable, pleasantly decorated and clean. The public rooms were well presented. Just managed to get a parking space. The grounds were useful for exercising my dogs. The TV was easy to use. I was a able to have a cold breakfast at 7.30am.

Hot breakfast was not served earlier than 8am on a Sunday. The room was not easy to access having to go both up and down stairs to reach it. and I had just suffered an injury which impaired my locomotion. The bedside lamp was flickering, so not usable and reported and the bathroom strip light was very slow to light up. The noise from the wedding music was irritating and kept me awake, but it did stop at midnight with no further disturbance. When exercising my dogs in the grounds there was some glass on the track in the woodlands

The staff were lovely,couldn't do enough. So friendly too. Loved the building itself,,beautiful. Location fabulous 👌

Due to booking through Booking.com, if you check in early, there's a charge of £30 and the same again for a late check out!!! Never experienced this charge before. Rather excessive if I am honest!! I do think the hotel needs a little tlc. I. The staff are lovely. Amazing. Thank you for making us so welcome

This hotel exceeded our expectations. It is some time since we enjoyed ourselves so much and this was in a great part due to the elegant surroundings, exceptionally good food, and cleanliness of all areas. The welcome and friendliness of all staff topped a very special stay. Thank you to all and we hope to spend a couple more nights with you later this year.

Nothing to dislike.

Beautiful, traditional, Manor House style property. Suitably furnished throughout, and some fantastic architectural features, particularly ceilings. Spotlessly clean. Every member of the staff team were friendly, helpful, polite and professional. Great choices for breakfast.

Always a pleasure staying at the Mansfield, a lovely welcome from the wonderful man on reception, and when I returned later that evening the room was warm and the bedside lights were on, small things like this make all the difference. A marvellous breakfast, comfortable bed, spacious room with a huge TV and a great coffee machine, what more do you need.

Nothing, the building is beautiful and the location stunning

A beautiful hotel in a fantastic setting. The serving staff at dinner and breakfast were excellent.

We were aware there was a wedding at the hotel, which did not really affect us, however I think we would have been given better rooms had this not been taking place. We were in the basement, which was away from the noise but a little claustrophobic

The hotel is classic and has extensive grounds. The rooms are well proportioned and we had a seating area; adjacent room across hall which we also booked was smaller however bed was huge and had a walk in shower. Our room had a bath which is always a plus. The dining facilities were lovely surroundings with a dining room, bar, library area and outside terrace area. Staff were attentive and service was reasonable.

The rooms were in the basement so light was restricted however we didn’t spend much time in them. There was also pets in the other rooms. There was no problem just something to consider if you are allergic to pets.
