Property is right by the water, theres an unpaved road you can take that goes right towards the rift zone and the main way in is a 10minute drive from the main highway - easy access to volcano. Room was clean, and had microwave, mini fridge, coffee station. Bathroom had shampoo and bodywash, so bring your own conditioner if you need that. The room was hotel style but the property felt like a private airbnb - best of both worlds. We had the patio too and it was nice to watch the sky change color in the morning sunrise. Overall very cute, perfect for adventuring and felt private. Host was very responsive and helpful with dinner recommendations.

There was no AC - which I love because we slept with the patio door open and fell asleep and woke up to bird and ocean sounds - but if you don’t like that be aware. We didn’t use the kitchen or laundry so cant speak to that either. Felt a little far and dark when we were coming back in the evening as its all the way at the end of HPP (but thats where the ocean is so cant have one without the other). Hard to find at first, felt like I was driving into someones house - my two cents is that host should put up a cute sign on the gazebo.

We needed a last-minute booking, and Andy responded quickly. He was actually a life saver for us as it was late afternoon when we discovered our original booking was unsafe. Andy greeted us and got us situated. The Inn is in a residential area with beautiful homes. We felt very safe and slept with the patio door open. There is a cute balcony and an ocen breeze that eliminates the need for an airconditoner. We felt the location was perfect for exploring the Hilo side of the island. There is also a beautiful ruggedshoreline area to explore, which is only a 5 minute walkaway.The room was spotless, and the bed was very comfortable . We were happy with every aspect of our stay. Highly recommend 👌

We really loved the place. It met our needs. Very rustic and quaint. The three bathrooms were great for our family. We could hear the waves crashing on the lava rock sea walls which was part of the charm.

The neighbors upstairs were a bit loud. No A/C, so getting the temp just right was a bit of a challenge. It looks like rust has set in, on top of fridge, ceiling light fixtures, and door stops. Boogie boards in laundry room were broken.

The property is great and 100% what I want in a vacation stay for a family of 5. The location might seem a little "out there" from Hilo, but you're a short drive some groceries, coffee, restaurants, etc. that are in Kea'au. It is a great jumping off place for getting to Volcanoes National Park. The walk to Maku'u point is easy and provides a spectacular view.

We did find some crumbs that looked like were just missed in the last clean up, and there was a dirty wine glass in the cupboard (dried red wine in it). Minor in my opinion because the rest of the place was very clean and well taken care of.

We loved the contactless check-in. We checked in around 9pm and it was very simple and a wonderful stay. Our host, Andy, made sure to send directions and was very helpful and quick to respond. We didn’t even run into the other guests while we stayed, it was perfect. We also LOVED the laundry area, well kept. Our room was so comfy and cozy for 2 people. It felt like we were at home. I can’t wait to book with them again.

If I had to complain (which I don’t want to because it was amazing) I would say the room was a bit hot. While we could prop the door or use the fan that was provided, there were a few mosquitos that got in and the fan wasn’t very strong. Seriously though, that is what staying in Hawaii is like so no problem.

Location was good for exploring the east and south sides of Hawaii. It was a very short walk to a rocky point on the water which was breathtakingly beautiful. You could hear the ocean waves from the room, and had a peek-a-boo view from the lanai. It was clean and the bed was comfy. Refrigerator and microwave were appreciated. Accomodations were basic and functional. We discovered a wonderful place to eat 15 minutes away - Paleo's Bar and Grill. There are two. We went to the one in Orchidtown 3 times in a week. It was quite busy but the service was outstanding and the prices were very fair for excellent food.

The room was very small. It was definitely just a place to sleep, not to spend any time in. There was no TV (not a big deal for us since we had our laptops).

Great residential neighborhood location, walking distance to Makuu Point, close to the two of our different friends that also live in the HPP community, and midway between Hilo and our final destination, Pahoa. Easy parking, very clean, and we could even see the ocean from our balcony, albeit between a couple of homes across the way. Very good eating reasonably close at Kaleo’s Bar & Grill. Finally, the price is reasonable!

The room is quite small, so it can be challenging to find to find places to put suitcases. However, this is so minor compared to the excellent location and accomodations.

Andy was very helpful with suggestions on what to do around the area. A quiet retreat at the end of the day after exploring to relax. A short walk to the cliffs to watch the waves crash in. Clean, comfortable and affordable all in one! This was our second time staying with Andy, he makes everything great. Have a problem - Andy will fix it!! Maholo, hope to see you again in the future

no TV or radio

The owner is very earnest and accommodating. The property is clean, well maintained and very quiet. There is a spacious fenced yard with a shaded table for relaxing, plus a balcony off the room itself. They have a full coffee pot (Yea!), small fridge and microwave. There is no breakfast, but that isn't a problem for us. Best feature is the proximity to beautiful lava cliffs, just three blocks away. Gorgeous place to watch the waves and whales. One can walk further along that shore, or drive to a park. They give directions.

Although clean, the room is small. The balcony helps. Plus we had a little trouble finding the address. A sign on the fence would have helped.

Location was great, patios were fenced in so safe for toddlers, ample parking, nice level backyard for kids to play, roomy, comfortable beds, very clean.

None of the outside doors and sliders would lock; kitchen could have used some oil for cooking, containers for leftovers, electric kettle top was broken so unusable; bathtub drain clogged in one bathroom; had to search for a broom and dustpan — would have been nice to have those in the unit.
