The room was wonderful! We stayed in a deluxe room on the 4th floor, with a unique layout (large exposed wood beams, attic feel with vaulted ceilings, very high ceilings because it was the top floor) that had a small amount of natural light (only windows were French doors to a tiny balcony). However...this was actually what we needed since we stayed in late June and the non-stop sunlight disturbs my husband's sleep at night. Also, the bathroom floors were heated and felt so nice. Breakfast was amazing - everything one could want was there and then some. Know that you can order specialty coffees (lattes, espresso drinks) from the barista if you don't want standard drip coffee.

Although I love modern Scandinavian design, the shower in the bathroom. In our room, the shower door was a partial glass door and large opening that allowed for water to easily splash out onto the bathroom floor. We had to use the shower door squeegee on the bathroom floors often.

Excellent location; beautiful building with elegant decor; delicious breakfast; quiet and very clean rooms. Last but not least, all the staff members are incredibly kind, thoughtful and attentive. In short, our stay was absolutely perfect!

The hotel staff was amazing, the location perfect. Special thanks for the caring response by Andre, the hotel director, who addressed every concern I had. Also, Kaarina at the front desk was truly phenomenal in addressing my specific needs throughout my stay. Tina, who works at breakfast, not only provided excellent service but also helped me when I had a health related issue during breakfast. Professional and efficient and so very kind. I'd also like to thank the girl at reception who was working the morning I left for taking the time to walk me to the location where I'd have to wait for the airport bus. Thank you, everyone!

The hotel occupies one of the most beautiful Art Noveaus buildings in Ålesund and is very well maintained. The staff is very kind, helpful, and smiley. The room was spacious, beautiful, and really comfy (loved the bed and pillows,great shower). Breakfast had a good variety of options and is served in a pleasant space. We had dinner at the restaurant one night, and the food was delicious and had a fair price (considering Norway prices). The location is the best in Ålesund, located in the most beautiful street of the town, in my opinion. A great experience for those who are interested in architecture.

The shower space could have a door, because almost all of the bathroom gets wet after every shower.

There were three young receptions ladies were great and extremely helpful. My friend and I wanted an one day trip visit Atlantic Road, the trip required a complicated buses and ferry arrangement. Each of the ladies is very knowledgeable and had so much patience to nail down the buses schedules, and made this one day trip successfully. Unfortunately I lost the records of their names, but we were appreciated them very much.

The hotel lies right at the city centre, perfect location to explore the city, channels and historical places. Super convenient that it has direct access to the parking and shopping mall. The hotel itself is very cosy, the room had all necessary facilities, and we had wonderful view to the street ❤️

The only thing that was missing is the opportunity to control the vent, we got some “perfume” smell to the room though the vent which was killing our heads, other than that it was great and I would love to stay in this hotel if we visit Ålesund again 😊

Beautiful hotel in an art nouveau building. The room was Scandi modern and seemed brand new, and the common areas and breakfast room were beautiful. The heated bathroom floor, including in the shower, was heavenly, and I imagine it's even nicer in winter. Excellent location in the middle of town and very close to the spectacular Aksla viewpoint.

Some of the design is form over function. The light switches and the room thermostat were difficult to operate. There didn't seem to be a way to use the coffee machine or the outlet on the desk without turning on the light, unless I'm a complete idiot. The room was swelteringly hot, and I didn't realize for hours that I had to use a separate thermostat on the radiator to turn off the heat.

Hotel 1904 is a truly first-rate hotel in every respect. The room we had was elegant, the bed unusually comfortable, the sheets luxurious, the bathroom sumptuous. The breakfast takes place in a genuinely gorgeous room, and the spread is among the most copious I have enjoyed. While we did not eat at the Michelin-starred restaurant, we greatly enjoyed the elegant bar, which serves perfectly executed cocktails in a lovely atmosphere. And the concierge was truly helpful and responsive to our requests.

The historic charm of 1904 made us so glad we selected this hotel. It was on a quiet street but just a block from the main tourist center. The breakfast was delicious and the best coffee we had in our 2 week stay in Norway.

Very awkward layout in the bathroom. The double shower doors had to be closed in the right position and the fact that you had a wet floor meant that drying your hair took a bit of a risk.

Great hotel right in the center of the town. Very nicely furnished. Great food at the restaurant. The best part - the breakfast! Probably the best one we had in Norway so far - offers good selection of fresh food and healthy options. Delicious coffee (if you ask for it at the bar). Friendly and staff.

Nothing really. Maybe just the curtains in the room could be a thicker … as it’s never really dark outside in summer
