I recently had the pleasure of staying at Château La Mothe du Barry in Moulon, and it was truly unforgettable. From the moment I arrived, Sandrine, the most wonderfully hospitable host you could ever meet, made me feel right at home. As a solo traveler, I have never felt more welcomed or cared for. The château itself is charming and beautifully maintained - full of character, yet with all the modern comforts you could wish for. My room was spotless, private, and incredibly comfortable, complete with air conditioning that made it perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring. I felt completely safe and at ease throughout my stay. If you’re looking for a few days away from the hustle and bustle of daily life, this is the perfect retreat. The surrounding villages are postcard-perfect, offering a taste of authentic French countryside charm. Whether you’re traveling solo, as a couple, or with friends, I can’t recommend Château La Mothe du Barry enough. Sandrine’s warmth, the peaceful atmosphere, and the beauty of the region will make you want to return again and again.

Everything was immaculate, beautifully presented, from the tea and coffee to the gorgeous breakfast. The guest living room was well equipped and a delight to spend time in. My room had a private terrace and a beautiful bathroom. Location was beautiful, a la campagne and the French Claret highly recommended…. On a hot day.. and the pool!

The only thing I would say is a car or a bike is advisable. I arrived by train at st Emilion and got a taxi which was 35 euros. I was at an event at the nearby Chateau du Garde, so didn’t really need to go far, but if you want to explore a car or bike from LIbourne may help..

Loved our 3 night stay. Peaceful, quiet and relaxing. Room was gorgeous and spotless. Sandrine is very welcoming and served gorgeous homemade breakfasts. Chilled water and Nespresso available all day. Pool isn’t heated but wasn’t cool. 5 min drive to Branne which has bakery, supermarket and a great restaurant called Cafe Cuisine. Can’t wait to come back for another relaxing stay. Thank you.

The stay was amazing. We had the whole place to ourselves to enjoy the living area and pool and were given an upgraded room. We were given plenty of cold water in the fridge which was a godsend as we cycled there and it was very hot. The room thankfully had air conditioning too. The breakfast was delicious full of fresh local produce. There was coffee and tea whenever we needed and most importantly we enjoyed the delicious wine made on the property. We would definitely recommend!

Sandrine was a fabulous host, the property is quiet & in a beautiful setting. Breakfast was great and we really enjoyed our stay. The Air-Con in our room was broken after a storm, so Sandrine provided us with a fan and moved us into another room for our last night which was very thoughtful.

We had no dislikes, the hotel was as advertised and we really enjoyed our stay! This stay is perfect if you have a car or plan to cycle. It is not within walking distance of anything & taxis are few and far between & very expensive. This stay is great if you’re looking to unwind completely & escape to some peace and quiet.

We had the loveliest time staying with Sandrine, she is a wonderful kind host who makes the most incredible breakfasts. Freshly squeezed orange juice with homemade yoghurt, fresh fruits and pastries each morning along with homemade jams etc. We could sample the delicious wine from their vineyard whilst relaxing around the pool, it’s super quiet and so relaxing. We stayed in the French Kiss room, there were guests in the next room and it was so quiet. That for me is important as we are light sleepers but we both slept so well. I couldn’t get over how reasonable the price was for what you get.

Quiet location with an astonishing landscape. The French Kiss room is well organized and has a private terrace. The owner is friendly and dedicated to the well-being of the guests. Cleanliness and attention to details : such as a perfumed candle, heart-shape key holder, matching color decoration for examples. Easy parking. Home made breakfast with the finest products, a shared fridge, glasses and dishes at disposal.

Despite the breakfast was excellent, there was no salty product available. More pillows with different sleeping comfort, a bigger and more comfortable mattress. The size of the pool.

Loved the spacious stylish rooms. Delighted with having a lounge area, WiFi, tv and games. Superb breakfast with local produce, home made yogurt and freshly baked cakes. Had a wine tasting on the property followed by a charcuterie board, optional extra. Would stay again for sure.

Too far from home :-(

Lovely breakfast with homemade jams, honey, yoghurt and juice. Extra treat was the french toast!. Very friendly host, whose English was better than my (school) French and a super room, generously proportioned and very quiet.

Google Maps location was slightly inaccurate which I have attempted to edit so you don't end up at Joel's mother's house!

Peaceful location, host was super friendly and was attentive to anything we needed during our stay. Lovely clean room and breakfast every morning was very authentically French with a lot of the products we ate being homemade which was a lovely touch.
