A great hotel in a very convenient location. The staff were all so friendly, efficient & helpful, especially Sylvia on Reception. Our room overlooking the pretty grounds was very good. Beds comfortable. Buffet breakfast was excellent, with good choice & poached eggs cooked to order if requested. Evening meals in the dining room were a very pleasant experience. The small swimming pool was a real bonus.

Very hot weather when we stayed, so our room got very hot. Maybe fans could be supplied in the rooms? Also maybe hotel sign off the main road (from both directions) could be clearer / bigger?

The hotel is lovely, the staff are amazingly helpful and courteous. Food is great. It’s clean and the grounds are amazing. I would highly recommend, unless you have dogs!!

We took our two cockerpoos with us, both don’t shed so no dog hair to clean up. I always cleaned their paws before going into the room. We took a spare sheet with us to cover the bed (which we forgot to bring back with us) in case they jumped up. The dogs left no signs of being there, but at £15 per night, per dog, it cost us £90 for a 3 night stay!!! Won’t be going back for that reason!

Breakfast was very good. Lots of choices with hot buffet, fresh fruit, pastries, cereals. Good hot coffee and choice of teas. Sunday lunch was very good with a good sized portion. There is a small swimming pool which we used twice. The jacuzzi was lovely and warm. Very soothing following our long bike ride in the nearby Grizdale Forrest. We chose this hotel due to it’s location and nearness to the Forrest.

The only thing that we were disappointed with is the fact that the sauna was not working.

Hotel is nice, and location is lovely, especially when we got up to a very frosty, low laying fog in the morning, looking out over to the lake was beautiful. With it being so cold atm, the carpark was fully salted, which gave us little robins coming to steal some grit that was lay, win win! Friendly staff, shown us about. I've recently had foot surgery, so needed to use stairs, which isn't a problem, I'm just slow, but the staff couldn't apologise enough for not having a lift.

Couple of spider webs in the corner of the room, no big deal, just peaked my "oh is there a spider about" fear haha

Nice friendly staff, very welcoming. Easy hotel to find. Nice bar area. Lots if food choices at breakfast, just wish bacon had been cooked a bit longer some was under cooked.

No tv reception in room 2, receptionist confirmed that there had been issues with TV reception earlier before Christmas which had not been resolved. We did get a bottle of wine for this issue. Too much external lights at night. Should have blackout blinds or blackout curtains fitted. Or reduce the lighting. Room 2 is straight above the main entrance so is badly affected by the lights.

Breakfast area very good, spacious and tables not on top of each other. Breakfast for cereals was a good choice as was fruit juices and coffee. The hot breakfast area for full English was a very good choice and was being topped up continuously. This was very good and the service by staff excellent and to be commended. Evening meals needed more vegetarian choice, one choice was totally inadequate and needs to be addressed. The staff throughout the hotel were always helpful

Needed a better vegetarian choice for evening meal.

A nice little pub/bar area for food. Great menu, dog friendly. Great location for being close to the lake. Good parking.

There is a ridiculously busy and dangerous road you need to cross to actually access the lake. Almost impossible to cross with children and dog. Breakfast had very little choice and not very hot. Radiators all on full whack throughout hotel making it uncomfortably hot when the weather was warm outside. Most rooms didn’t have a lakeside view. Pool not the best, very small, didn’t use.

They had a full breakfast every day of the week. Very nice, They had biscuits a kettle, Cups in the room, Coffee sachets and tea. In the room we were in it overlooked the car parking area, nice view, had a bed room on one side of the room and a seating area on the other, both sides had a TV. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We did stay for food for one night and that was very good.

The coffee in the room and the breakfast bar was terrible, No mini fridge was available should you want to go out and get milk for a decent coffee.. Car parking as well is terrible. The TV's ,in my opinion, wanted changing around . The larger in theory should be for the greater distance. Not that the hotel can do much but the internet is slower than the telephone signal. i used my phone as a hot spot for gadgets.

Liked everything about this hotel...set in beautiful surroundings, staff were friendly and efficient. Room was lovely , clean and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was good and was buffet, self service. They accept pets at an extra £10. I was offered use of the hotel pool but had forgotten my bathing suit so didnt use this facility but would in future. Didnt eat dinner in the hotel but can recommend the Pheasant Inn which isnt too far away from the hotel.

I asked a female member of staff for a spoon for my cereal in the morning which she duly gave me but then remarked.." you should have a spoon on your table". There was no spoons on my table just knives and forks and I expained that to her but felt that was slightly rude on her part as im not going to ask for a spoon if its on my table! Apart from that the rest of the staff were very friendly and cheery.
