Food was excellent, great choice at Breakfast and Staff were really attentive and helpful. Room was huge, I was provided with a fan ,which was excellent as the weather was really hot. Bed was really comfy. Fluffy Towels and nice Shower Gels n Shampoos.. Tea n Coffee making facilities were excellent !!

Sorry but honest. The Swimming Pool and Gym areas were poor.. The floor tiles around the Pool were slippy ,the Jacuzzi water was extremely cloudy and very difficult to get into ... I felt it all looked tired and uncared for , and certainly needed some upgrading.. The lockers were either broken completely or didn't work properly..the hair dryer pipe had perished and had to be held together and pushed up into the machine for it to blow dry my hair... Generally poor.. it was a shame as it spoilt my experience.

The room was well equipped, the shower was fantastic and a great view from the window. We had 2 evening meals which again were very good, the service from the staff was great particularly the service from Arron who has just been there for 4 weeks a credit to the hotel no request was an issue to him. Also a mention to Harry on the main reception, for the first time of ever staying in a hotel we asked if we could have a different room as the first one we found noisy and did not have a great nights sleep. Without question Harry asked us to pack our belongings to leave at reception and on our return later that evening they were all in our new room which was a total transformation for the better.

Room 11, very noisy.

The staff were very helpful and friendly. Loved the pool especially as it didn’t have a deep end which I appreciated not being a very confident swimmer. The sauna and jacuzzi were great too. Having these facilities meant that even though it rained throughout our stay we still had something to look forward to doing. Ideal for young families. I enjoyed seeing people with their well behaved dogs as well. Food was excellent. Bar was welcoming . Very cozy atmosphere especially with the open fire.

Disappointed in not having rooms close to our friends as my husband has mobility issues and it would’ve been helpful if they had been closer. Despite requesting close rooms when I booked, they were opposite ends of the hotel and they did not have alternative rooms available when I asked. It was ok though and it didn’t spoil our stay. I’m fairly sure however that I paid a little extra for this when I booked??? Never mind😔

What could be more welcoming than the warm glow of a central log fire lighting the entrance to the hotel that is reminiscent of a period and comfortable Edwardian home being adorned with leather Chesterfield sofas and chairs. Our immediate reaction was wow and to find such a refuge out of the rain and gloom of the fading south Lakeland light was an enormous bonus. The receptionist Kazia (Kate) wore a huge smile and within a minute we were in room 12 to enjoy the benefit of a wonderful room overlooking the large pond that fills the ornate garden below. We discovered a model village occupying the grounds as we drew the curtains back the following morning and found that the hotel nestled in between two local hills that provide a delightful view of the countryside. Just four miles from Bowness and eight from Kendal (18 minutes by car along a winding road) it provided us with an ideal location base to explore and attend the 'Montain Festival' being held there. The evening meal was amazing (I had the lamb and my wife the con Carne) and very well priced given the wide variety of standard fayre and evening specials ( pricing for the mains commenced at around £16 and extended to £26 for a choice cut from the grill). Oliver attended to our needs extremely well and made us feel very much at home in the restaurant/bar. Our room provided a four poster bed that enabled a very comfortable nights sleep that set us up for the following day which commenced with an equally recommended and substantial breakfast. Sadly we were unable to use the leisure facilities due to time constraints in our programme. The staff were tremendous and clearly well managed into an efficient team. Having stayed in several five star establishments across the globe I would regard this hotel as a hidden gem. It may not have the refinements of some, yet if you require the basics done realy really well...then this could be the place for you.

There is nothing to offer that we did not like. I might suggest that the doors to the rooms could be fitted with soft closures and thus reduce the noise somewhat from adjoining rooms in the evening but that is but a trifling matter given the enjoyment we had during our stay.

5 Stars – Perfect Stay! I had a wonderful experience at this hotel. Everything exceeded my expectations – from the peaceful and quiet atmosphere to the delicious breakfast served in the morning. It was the perfect place to relax and recharge. The staff were incredibly friendly, helpful, and always made me feel welcome. You can really tell they care about making your stay as pleasant as possible. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for comfort, calm, and great service. I will absolutely be coming back!

The only thing you can dislike in this place that you need to leave them ....

Hotel grounds were really good, had the weather been less wet it would have been perfect. There's a miniature village within the grounds, also a pond with resident ducks too... Our room was great with four poster bed and a lovely ensuite with jacuzzi bath, also great spa facilities & gym, I made sure to book a couple of treatments with Sharon during our stay.... The staff were attentive and friendly, & hard working, good choice for breakfast, and restaurant had good choices on the menu. All 3 of us had a fab time at Damson Dean, 🥰

Although the hotel is dog friendly, we did find payment for our dogs rather expensive @£15 per night, 🐶🐶

Got lucky with our stay - got a free room upgrade for a larger bed so enjoyed that massively. It was quiet, and a lovely garden outside. Large parking. Pool and spa facilities were an amazing bonus. Swam for 2 evenings in a row and had fun. Decent traditional breakfast, also served steamed veg at breakfast (many places don't). Room temperature was great. Shower facilities ok. Great views outside the window. 10 min drive to Bowness. Overall, very comfortable.

Just a bit dated, could see it needs a bit of refresh and zhuzh up. Filter coffee at breakfast was really bad, sorry. But then again..I'm a bit of a coffee snob. Would have appreciated coffee machine coffee. The egg scramble at breakfast was undercooked and the eggs were snotty.

Hotel with all the facilities, check in was great and really friendly and knowledgeable we checked in at about 9pm There was a great breakfast too, lots of choice and was lovely see the Duck enjoying the weather pond.

Bed was a little too soft, and in contrast to the great in, the check out could have been better as it felt quite rude and there was no how was your stay or have a good day. We had checked out 10-15mins late due to my partner not feeling well. We got a very cold should and someone who was very much not happy with this at reception.

We were able to bring our dog which was a bonus. We were allowed to bring her down to the bar when we had our meals rather than leave her in the room. We liked the easy parking and the cosy fire in reception. The room we stayed in was very quiet and although quite compact it was perfectly adequate.

The room was in need of an update really but it was clean and warm. We hadn't visited the area before and had difficulty finding footpaths within easy walking distance of the hotel. Perhaps some literature on local walking routes near to the hotel would be helpful.

The breakfast buffet was extensive, and well-prepared. The hotel oozes the charm of a country inn. The duck pond added to the ambience. It was nice to know we could have accessed the spa and gym had we wanted to. (We were exhausted from a long flight when we arrived, and got in our steps at nearby Sizergh Castle.) The proximity to this castle was the primary reason for choosing Damson Dene. The authentically constructed miniature village displayed in the hotel was delightful. There is a larger one behind the hotel that is available to tour for a small fee.

The mattress needs to be replaced. The shower is tiny, but it is an old building, so I understand.
