The hotel is super pretty. I love the decor and setup even though the facilities were rather limited. Kudos to the night reception guy (my bad for not remembering his name) who is always friendly and helpful. He has a great attitude for this service industry. Definitely help to make our stay more positive.

A location is rather isolated and The stairs. No lift in the hotel and we had to lug our extremely heavy luggages up ourselves.

The hotel itself is absolutely lovely - unique furnishings all very interesting. The rooms I would describe as old fashioned but this was fitting for the feel of the hotel so not out of place. The rooms were immaculately clean with a good shower. The staff were all very nice and we felt well looked after. We had evening meal included and all meals were good but the apple crumble bread and butter pudding was definately the star of the show! Breakfast also good with plentiful choice.

We had a deluxe room and was expecting a king size bed but was just a double and the mattress wasn't very comfortable which did mean we didn't get a great nights sleep. The other room we had was a ground floor room which was king size and that bed was very comfy. They could do with upgrading the TVs to larger smart TV's as they were very old

The location is wonderful and so close to the local attractions. The staff right from reception through to the restaurant and bar staff really made this a special weekend for my wife and I. All the staff team were friendly and professional, the manager was such a nice guy and a special mention for Steve who was so hardworking and friendly to all customers. We will return with other family members.

Staff were so lovely, Matt from reception helped us upstairs with our pram, and was so chatty and helpful! all the staff at breakfast were all so lovely! Lovely refurb and bar downstairs , bedrooms need updating, however still lovely and clean! two stains on sofa chair in room 207- chairs need replacing, however still 5 stars as everything else really was spot on, we can’t wait to book again

The hotel was beautiful, the staff great and the food delicious

The cooked breakfast was great but the buffet breakfast was very poor, maybe because we booked a 10am breakfast and there wasn’t anything left. The yogurt was empty so the only choice was dry granola and dry fruit. The evening meal was excellent We have read Beatrix potter books for over 50 years so we were really looking forward to staying. Although the hotel had the theme, we thought that there should have been some explanations in the rooms and gardens to reference the books

All of the reception staff were really lovely. They offered many suggestions (as requested) for things to do in the area and further afield. The dining room staff were always very helpful and friendly and the breakfast was excellent. The house is nicely decorated with some great touches such as the carpet in the dining room and lounge area. Outside the garden is landscaped and you can walk down to the bottom of the garden and follow the road down towards the lake.

Having stayed several times my expectations were high and in the main met or bettered. The staff were excellent, particularly reception and bar staff. Our room was spacious, very clean and comfortable. The gardens remain well maintained and lovely.

Our only disappointment was the dining experience. Previously an outstanding feature, unfortunately the standards are not as high as our last visit which was around four years ago. The service was not to its past standard, condiments such as mustard or vinegar were served in sachets as would be a motorway service station. One meal was not hot, probably plated before the other meal was ready. Hopefully a temporary set back.

Loved that the breakfast was freshly cooked. There were plenty of choices and the staff were excellent. The room was lovely and big and the view was great. Dinner was good but there could’ve been a few more choices.

My only complaint was that on one occasion when they cleaned the room we were not given fresh hand towels and even though I went a requested them we never received them. Apart from that all was very good.
