The location was excellent ,only a few minutes walk to shops ,restaurant and the lake. We had a beautiful room in the converted attic ,tastefully decorated Enjoyed a hearty breakfast . A lovely touch was home baked cake and cookies provided for the guests to enjoy.

There is quite a steep hill to climb to reach the property ,which may be difficult for elderly or the less mobile .

The accommodation was in the heart of Bowness in Windermere. Sat up on top a steepish hill which some may struggle with but was fine for us. It is a beautifully kept B&B. The owner Nick was very attentive for our needs. The room we stayed in, The Penthouse was very nice. Although it was in the loft and I'm 6ft 2" I didn't find it too challenging. The shower was extra special. Nick made cookies and cakes during the day for people to take. There was also fresh milk and bottles of water for people to take for their rooms. The cooked breakfast was absolutely cooked to perfection and was piping hot with a big pot of tea.

There is nothing here to not like.

Very homely place to stay. The room was spotless and comfortable. The host and housekeeping lady were friendly and accomodating. Plenty to choose from at breakfast time, including a delicious cooked breakfast. The hotel felt safe and is tucked away from the busier areas of Bowness, but within a short walk from Lake Windermere. The complimentary homemade cakes provided a nice personal touch- the melt in the mouth shortbread is to die for! The garden was full of beautiful bright flowers. The owners have made this place just perfect. I would not hesitate to recommend.

Communication was good during check-in (we arrived at a time when the owner was out and checked in by phone) and were guided to our smallish but well equipped double room. The room and bathroom were clean and well prepared. The house is well situated (a short, steep walk from the lakeside, but a more gentle walk across the hill to the main street) and set in lovely gardens with generous outdoor seating and a comfy lounge inside. A nice touch was the free provision of water, milk and freshly made biscuits or cake each day on the landing for all guests to help themselves. Breakfast was well cooked and delicious, served by polite and friendly staff.

Just one thing prevented a glowing review - we found the bed much too soft for our comfort. It's a personal preference I know, but we both found this particular bed/mattress so uncomfortable we could not sleep which took the edge off our enjoyment of a short break in the lake district.

The host Nick is very welcoming and friendly, The location is superb with parking to boot! A short walk to the bars and restaurants in the area. The rooms are well stocked with everything you would need, including the added touch of fresh milk and water in a fridge just outside your door and fresh cake! The breakfast was absolutely fantastic, options of a cooked breakfast which is delicious and plenty of cereals, Jams and marmalades aswell as yoghurt with fresh fruit and more! Overall, it was a fantastic stay, and I would highly recommend anyone considering options nearby to book with Nick! Thanks, Liam and Emily

This property deserves exceptional review! I can only say good things about the place. There were ample parking, very close to town centre but quiet place to stay. Lots of places to drink & eat nearby & its close to the marina. The room was spotless, they use quality items in the room and interior is so lush. The bed very comfy, we slept well, ventilation great, pillowcases & sheets are Egyptian cotton with high thread counts. Such a generous Host-they have tea, coffee in the room & homemade cookies in a jar. Exciting part was the treats at the landing baked fresh daily by Nick. We got spoilt with his homemade goodies & oh Nick can bake. To top it all up they have a mini fridge at the landing with free bottled water & milk for your tea. Breakfast so generous with quality produce, cereals, teas, coffee, preserves, granary, white bread. They use fine bone china, it made me feel like royalty. We were fully nourished. Thank you to Nick and his assistant for making sure we get the best service. You both are a star! We were so sad to leave we already missed your impressive high pressured, super clean shower. Everything were carefully thought out, we did not have to ask for anything because all were provided in the room. We are very picky when it comes to accommodation but this one definitely exceeded our expectations. Thanks again for making this trip a remarkable & memorable one. I cant find any faults, we just love the place. I could not complain at all. The property is just perfect, free parking and great value for money. Near town centre a lot of bars around the area and nice restaurants.

Lovely property, good sized room, very clean and comfortable bed. A short walk downhill to the centre, we were warmly welcomed when we arrived and everything was explained efficiently. Nice touches with the provision of cake and bottled water every day and a lovely breakfast.

Would have liked another breakfast option eg: choice of eggs or lighter cooked options eg: scrambled eggs. Would have liked a later breakfast time option until say 10am, especially as we were in late from a wedding the night before. It wasn’t a major issue though and we would definitely stay here again.

On arrival we were greeted by Nick who carried our bags to are room and explained what time breakfast would be. He also said around 2.30 there would be cake . Our room was very clean with a beautiful view of the garden and surrounding area. Breakfast was a variation of cereal, toast , yoghurt or a full English breakfast including tea or coffee. Nick was a wonderful host and nothing was to much trouble for him. The cake around 2ish in the afternoon was a delightful treat and we'll worth waiting for . We found Fairfield house to be in a lovely peaceful spot. We highly recommend staying here to family and friends. Beautiful location , very clean and I had a lovely nights sleep as the bed was very comfortable. Thank you Nick .

It was perfect.

Lovely B&B in a very quiet location of Bowness and just a short walk from the town centre, free car park and a very welcoming and helpful host. We went for the top floor 'penthouse' so had loads of room for all our walking gear and a lovely view across town (just be wary of low roof space in a couple of areas, can easily bang your head!). Breakfast was superb, wide selection of cereals, yogurts and fruit, and freshly cooked full English. As others have said, bonus extra of freshly cooked cake or biscuits each day, something we looked forward to after a walk in the hills.

Nothing really, if I was pushed to add anything it would be the reception is in need of a refresh, but that doesn't detract from how much we enjoyed our stay.

the communication from Nick(proprietor)was excellent he messaged to let us know room was ready When we arrived he showed us the room then explained about where and how to get to the surrounding area.the breakfast was was first class it was cooked fresh and very tasty .good selection of cereals and juices.We spent one late evening sat in the garden area which ws great.Nice little touch was he left freshly baked cakes and bottled water fresh milk in a fridge on the landing .I think the fact there are not to many rooms Nick can concentrate on the quality of your stay

I can't fault Nick for anything the staff were all friendly and cheery .
