The surroundings were lovely. The breakfast was “absolutely delicious”, really lovely and tasty and it was hot. Lots of choice. The chef was around all the time checking the food was hot and topping it up, very good to see.

The car parking fee! We have been staying in the Lakes for years in many, many places & never ever been charged to park our car in their car park. Even the smallest places Absolutely awful!

The hotel is a very historical building and you can see the windemere lake beautifully from its terrace. The hotel is nicely located from the historical town and its harbour. The hotel staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. We had a very noisy and drunk group staying above us. The staff went multiple times up to ask them to remain quiet in the late hours and offered us to switch rooms. As it was 1am we initially didn’t (we were tired and in pyjamas) but the next evening the noise started again. The staff immediately provided us with a room on the opposite side of the hotel and we had a lovely room, and no noise complaints anymore whatsoever. The breakfast is well stocked, with a variety of choices. Be aware that the things that look like pancakes are some sort of potato pancake. It could be helpful if local specialties would be marked (for example the sausages and this potato cake) because it was a bit of a surprise haha. However, great breakfast. The hotel is very clean and I enjoyed the bathroom. They are not large but modern, and the water pressure in the shower is pleasant. The beds are incredibly soft, but firm. Besides the noise (that was solved) they are really nice and we slept like a charm. Upon request you can get extra pillows if needed. Bear in mind that the elevator on one side of the hotel is very tiny and if you are in a wheelchair it may not fit you. I am assuming the hotel is accommodating to this because they have a wheel chair elevator to the first floor, so I think if you let them know you have this need you can get around easily in the hotel. Especially as they are so great in accommodating and communicating.

The hotel is an older (historical) building. This means the frame is wooden and the walls and floors are thin. For anyone normal going around (mindful while they walk and talk) this is perfectly fine. You will hear some creaks here and there and some mumbles, but nothing major and easily ignored. However if you are someone that is loud, stomps, wants to get pissing drunk or are a party group, please consider a different place. You will disturb others significantly.

The staff where outstanding, helpful and friendly. The room was fine, comfy bed and plenty of towels and hot water... The main rooms at the front of the hotel have been carefully planned and are new, light and modern. All very clean as was the bedroom. The buffet breakfast was very good. View of the lake from a large outdoor terrace was exceptional. The location is very good and there is plenty of car parking space. To my mind it has the feeling of a hotel that has high demands of its staff which of course is a bonus for all residents. Worth a visit

Great location, bedroom was very clean and contemporary - we loved the quality coffee machinein our room. Just a few minutes walk from the heart of the town. The staff were very helpful and attentive. The breakfast buffet ( continental and full cooked with drinks was very good.

Parking onsite ( £7.50 p/night ) was tight / always full but we always found a space. Worth doing as the hill up from the town steep- that said there is space to set down and pick up outside the hotel. The swimming / well being facilities were advertised as an extra cost but didn't expect them to be £20 off peak / £25 peak p/p for 2 hours so didn't use. Shame there isn't an option for a flat fee for the duration of the stay as other hotels often do.

The room was a good size and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was great with a really big shower. The location of the hotel is brilliant, just up the bank from all the shops and nice restaurants. It was really nice to have a spa at the hotel with a lovely pool too. Breakfast was fresh and delicious. All of the staff were lovely, really friendly and helpful.

We booked a lake view room but this wasn't an accurate description. The view from our window was of the council estate across the road from the hotel. You had to hang out of the window to get a view of the lake. There was no TV reception and we found it impossible to use the apps on the TV too.

The location was in the perfect location . I would pay more for a lake view if I stayed again as I had a roof with pigeons on outside the window . Breakfast was yummy and there was no rush to get it and been buffet you can go back as many times as you like and the staff are professional and a credit to the hotel . The room despite the view was lovely and. Clean and decorated tastefully and the beds are one of the comfortable I’ve ever slept on . Will definitely be going back

You have to pay £7.50 per day for parking so had we been there a full week it is expensive . That’s the only negative thing I have to say about it otherwise it’s perfect

Lovely hotel and decor throughout, stunning location. We had spacious room 117 with a balcony giving breath taking views, all in-room facilities were fabulous too. Everywhere was clean, our huge bed was super comfy, spotless bedding, had a great sleep. All the staff were helpful, friendly and professional - special mention to Lynn (receptionist extraordinaire). We really enjoyed our stay and can't wait to return.

The food - such a shame as all the other elements of our stay were excellent/perfect. Evening meal - over priced, poor quality ingredients, presentation had no wow factor. I understand offering limited menu choices given many guests might prefer to eat elsewhere but what is offered should be of a far superior quality than it was which would tempt more guests to eat in. Overall, very disappointing. Breakfast - good variety of choices however the cooked items weren't hot, poor quality ingredients and the presentation was average. Unfortunately our food experiences fell extremely short from our expectations. Really looking forward to returning but, sadly, will probably eat elsewhere.

On arrival i was informed that my room was already available which was a lovely surprise. The receptionist on arrival was so lovely and welcoming .The room was also lovely with a lovely large bed , there was tea and coffee making machine which was a nice touch .The shower was adequate lovely warm water as well .The location of the hotel had a stunning view overlooking lake Windermere and was very close to all the amenities of Bowness on Windermere

Nothing really to fault but there was a hint of mustiness in the corridors I'm not sure it that was due to the buildings age .Didn't ditract from my stay .Also be aware that there is a little incline to walk for those who are carrying heavy luggage

Staff very friendly and helpful. Room comfortable, evening meal (we did have a deal) delicious. Great location up a hill, but not too steep for us. Would definitely recommend. Also like how eco friendly you are only having room cleaned etc on request.

Be nice I'd you could have eggs bebedict etc for breakfast, although to be fair I didn't ask I'm sure they would have accommodated request. Not a complaint but shower screen came half way across shower and bath mat was soaking so perhaps sliding door or shower curtain would help. Did notice some marks on the ceiling and carpet on ground floor not sure if from that.

The property was in a good location close to the main areas. The bed was comfortable too. Breakfast was nice for a short stay but not enough variety if you plan on staying for more than a couple of days. The staff were very polite and went out of their way to help.

I paid extra for a lake view room, and although the room was slightly larger than a standard room, it overlooked a council estate and also had a big tree outside blocking the view of that. If you stood to the far left of the window with your head pushed next to the wall and looked down the side of the building, you could just about see a sliver of lake between the council houses. Joking aside, the room was comfortable so I didn’t ask to move. There was noise from other rooms/guests and people banging doors at 7:00am but that’s not the hotels fault.
